Head Set not working for DayZ
grezvany13 replied to Nick_Hextasy's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
You could check (in Windows) if you mic is the default recording device, since ARMA2 only uses that device for it's audio. Like this topic: http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f449-pr-arma2-support/107334-microphone-not-working-game.html -
That "godmode" is an username within an overlay of Mumble ;) As for the markers: it's possible and no hacks are used unless it's a veteran server ;)

Head Set not working for DayZ
grezvany13 replied to Nick_Hextasy's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Does your mic work at all? For example with Skype or another VOIP program? ARMA2 doesn't have any settings which can break the audio recieved from your microphone, so the problem is most likely within Windows (eg audio settings). -
You forgot the best Developer & Publisher ever: Bohemia Interactive :D Although I guess a "Rocket Interactive" (developer) + BI (publisher) would be the best combo.

Auto-Blood Regen when you are green on food and water?
grezvany13 replied to Spintown's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'm not a doctor or anything; but as far as I remember from school, you'll need water and food to create blood (or at least your body does). So every time you'll eat or drink, your blood level will increase (over time). So actually, instead of regenerating your blood level to max by simply eating or drinking, it should slowly regenerate to the level the consumable can give you. Example: - a can of beans gives you 200 blood - the generation time is 10 blood per second - eating a can of beans will give you 200 blood over 20 seconds (not instantly!) Example 2: - a single cooked meated gives you 800 blood - the regen time is still 10 blood per second - the items will stack the amount of blood - you eat 2 cooked meat (total of 1600 blood) - this will take 160 seconds before you gained all the blood you've "ate". This is far more realistic, but the current method (no regen) is a good alternative. -
^this It's possible to disable or rebind Windows Hotkeys (like ALT+F4) in an application. However, there are multiple other methods to disconnect from the game with a single action besides ALT+F4. My personal favorite: pull the plug! - buy a power cable with on/off switch - place this cable between power source and your computer - play the game - when someone shoots you; switch it off (turning off your computer) - switch it back on - play the game again

The idea: I love it and I would really like to see ACRE integrated into DayZ. In-game radios are the only solution to chat abuse or the need for external VOIP services like Skype or TeamSpeak (or Ventrilo, or Mumble, or ...) Problem 1: Although ACRE is very simple to setup, especially with SixUpdater, it does require some extra things for the user to do to make it work. I've seen a lot of people struggle with the DayZ setup (and even ARMA2 itself!), so another mod with it's unique install might scare of some people. Problem 2: Using ACRE in-game is not very easy, even the controls are hard (CTRL + SHIFT + Q to show the radio :o) and will require some training before someone can use it. Since DayZ is still an Alpha I don't see any training missions soon, but might be handy and will be required when ACRE is implemented. Problem 3: The system used by ACRE, by defining unique classnames for each radio, instead of ID's by DayZ, is a technical problem which isn't fixed overnight. Each radio is unique and should be saved as an unique item at the database (which creates a lot of problems). Also, the items are unique per server, not at the HIVE, so they could never become persistant. For DayZ ACRE needs to be rewritten so it uses ID's (again) and store all the data to this ID (like channel information). Otherwise it would be impossible to store all the data at the HIVE, and will will make them even less useful then vehicles and tents (which already are server bound). However, this means every player must spawn with it's own unique radio and can't be used by others. And that's something terrible, since ACRE allows you to carry multiple radios and even use them all at the same time (like 1 left ear, 1 right ear or simply switching radios). Problem 4: ACRE requires all players (at least at a single server) to be at the same Teamspeak server and channel, otherwise it won't work. This either means that DayZ must have it's own 10000000 slots TS server, or must have a clever method to make TS switch servers automaticly when you change servers in-game and use the TS server of the server hoster. The first option is simply impossible, not to mention the costs. The second option might be possible (although the server hosters need to handle more data and CPU cycles), but requires some heavy coding between ARMA2 and TS. Conclusion: I really hope that DayZ will feature some kind of in-game VOIP which works at a way we all like, but I fear that ACRE isn't the solution. Of course, ACRE could (and should) be used as a general guideline for how it could (and should) be done. As the rumors say; ARMA3 will have radios which are similair to ACRE, so hopefully the dev's are able to use that code in DayZ.

The "Official" FIX on trust in DayZ
grezvany13 replied to Bladez 0f Fury's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You're right that it's possible to create groups and lock them by a password, although your advantages are (IMHO) disadvantages to the game: The best thing I like about DayZ (and ARMA) is the fact that I can't see who is who, except by clothing and the weapon in use. The fact that we have to communicate to know where we are and discuss tactics to prevent friendly fire is essential to the gameplay. This is the only advantage I see, however, since we don't have radios in-game, this wouldn't make sense. Direct chat is IMHO the only thing which should be used (since using Skype or TS is almost a legal cheat). If the Devs decide to implement radios (which is semi-confirmed) this will be fixed too, or atleast have the in-game VOIP fixed. However, it does require a microphone, but every gamer should have one anyway (or buy one for $5,-). Like I said; only Direct Chat (and Vehicle Chat?) should be enabled and radios should handle the long distance communication. In the mean time; use Skype or TeamSpeak to play with friends. And if you're a really nice guy; invite strangers to talk with you ;) -
Rocket Check This!!! Idea to stop most bullshit.
grezvany13 replied to TheWeedMan's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Your idea makes sense, but will result in a "God-complex" (as SANDMAN DAN said) by admins, hackusations for people who are just better then the avarage player or simply have stupid luck. For example; if I shoot down a helicopter I will recieve up to 8 kills at once, which might trigger hackusations by either players or admins. If I'm correct, the HIVE does store this information (player X killed player Y) and it's certainly available at the server logs. So, if someone complains about a hacker who insta-kills multiple people at a server, this can be checked at the database or logs to find the person who triggered it. It's not a 100% guaranty, but it's more solid then having admins or survivors decide who's the hacker. -
I know that the AS50 can instantly destroy the engine, main rotor or tail rotor by a single shot. Never seen, or heard of, a single shot destruction of the whole thing... However, keep in mind that lag, desync and other engine issues might have caused some delay and actually several AS50 rounds hitted your chopper before you could notice it. I've seen it before in ArmA2, even with SP!

I had the same problem; I freshly spawned on the beach, walked towards the trees and found a nice tent full of high end gear! So I did 2 things: - I walked to our camp and stored some stuff, since I knew they would be useful to others. - I walked to Cherno and messed around with survivors till I got shot myself. And yes, I lost a AS50... but who cares, we have enough... I did store the NVG, GPS and L85, since I didn't needed that for survivor hunting ;)

Although it's not possible with the current ARMA2 engine, it will be possible if DayZ is ported/updated to ARMA3! And since both engines are (basically) the same, it shouldn't be to hard to do so. I haven't found any source that DayZ will become a stand-alone game (only rumors and discussions), or will be ported to ARMA3. However, since both Rocket and other BI devs have stated that bugfixes and ideas from the DayZ code have been used at the source of ARMA3, so it should be possible. As for the idea itself; I like it, although it would make the game even more difficult to learn for starting players.

I'm sorry to say, but I have to disagree with you... I personally try to avoid the large cities due snipers and other "not so friendly" survivors when I don't have a decent gear yer. But I manage to find everything I need elsewhere. From wherever you spawn, there's always a barn with a starter weapon within 1km and other supplies CAN spawn and be found at any locations. Medical supplies: beside hospitals, these can be found at medical tents (smaller cities), helicopter crash sites and simple supplies everywhere else. Weapons: barns and deer stands are a great source for weapons. Ammo: everywhere! Food: beside supermarkets, basically everywhere... Not to mention the fact that you can hunt animals, gut them and cook the meat. General Items: these can be found everywhere, especially at barns. If you know where to look, you can have decent starter kit within 30 minutes without entering Cherno or Elektro (or any other major city).

Are Hackers only seen by PVPer's?
grezvany13 replied to fearz0r's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The truth is; every single cheater/hacker/scripter is one too many. The biggest problem is that most people have no idea what the difference is... Right now we see a lot of no-lifers who use scripts to get more then the game would allow, like top-grade weapons, vehicles and other stuff which aren't even a part of the DayZ mod (see this a lot!). Lately there are also a lot of reports of players who use scripts/cheats to teleport players, or kill them instantly while on the other side of the map (not yet seen myself, but YT has enough proof). Real hackers (who "hack" into the computers/server) aren't in DayZ or any other game, DDOS-attackers at most. And another fact; the more we cry about those kids, the more they like it and the less we enjoy our game... So let's play some DayZ and don't worry about your beans (too much). Have fun! -
Your rules for shoot on sight
grezvany13 replied to Pappyjump's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I first make sure it isn't a friendly (as in; from same group I play with), so usally I shout: "EVERYONE WIGGLE!" If the person in my sight isn't; I take the shot ;) There are some other "rules" I have, like making sure I'm at a safe location before firing my weapon (no zeds around, able to take cover and retreat). Also when playing in a group there's only one person who can give the "open fire" command, so we all apply to that. -
My contribution to this EPIC thread PS. Y U NO SHOW IMAGES?
-
You still have the same problem as other "solutions": not everyone has a perfect internet connection and you might get disconnected by technical problems, instead of ALT+F4 I'm not saying nothing should be done against ALT+F4, but also take in mind people who got DC-ed by accident...
-
Hmmm... I could just lure you in an ambush and take all your gear, instead of trading my precious L85... Not to mention the L85 is worth much more than a "crappy" NVG ;) Road Flares FTW!

" Arma 2 Reinforcements Has Stopped Working "
grezvany13 replied to entryfive's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Ahhh... never thought of that! I'll try this tonight when I'm back home. However; doesn't this give problems while playing DayZ? Since DayZ requires the beta patch and thus the latest BattlEye. I just hate to modify the dll every time I switch game ;)
