Lemons... somebody said LEMONS :o btw... I have no idea what you're talking about, just play the game and go with the flow... The ingame economy will stabalize itself when more content is added and more options for teamplay is created. -
I voted Yes, No, No The reason for the yes should be easy ;) The 2 no's too; nobody should have something that others don't have, just because they paid more (Pay2Win). However, it would be fun to play the game and run around with a "Anyone in Cherno?" or "I played the alpha and all I got was this lousy t-shirt" t-shirt ;) The only problem with the CE is the fact that DayZ will probably only be available by download and not retail, so adding special items would be impossible. However, if the price is high enough ;) they should send it to me anyway :D

Zelf speel ik bij een grote Nederlandstalige multigaming clan (Double Dutch Clan) waar er regelmatig ARMA2 en DayZ wordt gespeeld. Het niveau is zeer wisselend; van beginners tot mensen die ook aan het grotere werk meedoen. Sindskort hebben wij ook een ArmA2/DayZ squad, waar op dit moment rond de 40 leden in spelen. Uiteraard worden er ook andere games gespeeld en ook daar is iedereen welkom. Gezien wij tegen de 600 leden hebben, is er natuurlijk een eigen forum en TS server beschikbaar waar er altijd wel iemand online is. Voor meer informatie mag je gerust een PM sturen, of gewoon even op onze website kijken (link staat in m'n signature).

Please note that DayZ uses the same engine as ArmA 2 (it's even a mod), and usually soldiers (since it's a militairy simulator) won't use their hands or random items to kill someone (or something). I do agree it would be great to have more day-to-day items and homemade weapons in DayZ, but since the engine was never intended to have this it will take time to build it. Rocket already stated that this is on the wish list for the standalone game, and due the possibilities they'll have by going standalone I'm sure it will be available.

You have my beans for explaining (and therfor really understanding) what DayZ is all about. Even with the current bugs and minor problems, which is normal during an Alpha, I have the same experience as you have within the world of DayZ. PS and I support your idea about zombies. -

I'm running DayZ (and ArmA2) with a NVidia 9800GT which works without a problem. However, since my GPU is so bad (actually it isn't but compared to newer cards it is) the game uses my CPU to take of some heat. Since I have a decent CPU (Intel i7 940) I can run DayZ at High grafics, but without the gimmics (HDR, AA, post-processing, etc). The mimum specs for ArmA2 are: - Processor: Dual Core CPU for Intel or AMD - Memory/RAM: 1 GB - Video Card: Nvidia Geforce 7800 / ATI Radeon 1800 or faster with Shader Model 3 and 256 MB VRAM But I suggest to get a little better CPU for DayZ (due zed pathfinding). So your computer should be able to run DayZ without any problems, but everything at low graphics. -

They started working on it 2 patches ago, since they need more data before they can really build it in. Right now, every time you disconnect from a server (either legit of ALT-F4) it's stored at the database. The devs are trying to make an algorithm which checks a couple of things to make sure legit disconnects aren't punished for crimes they didn't commit. So, for now we have to live with the guys who're afraid to die and ALT+F4 every 5 seconds for no reason. -
I already thought it might be GUID, but non the less asked it ;) However, since you can't find your own GUID anywhere (unless you login, which obvious fails), here's a method which should give it to you: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?106913-How-to-find-my-guid PS this doesn't work if you're banned by BattlEye, since you can't join the servers at all ;)

Maybe a weird question; but how should we read this banlist and how can we find ourselfs here? I'm a technical person, but even I can't see if my nickname or PlayerID is in the list.

Whahahaha.... I should try that sometimes! Shoot a survivor in the legs and drag them all the way to NW Airfield; let's see how they like that! Comon... it's funny... At least you're not nuked by a hacker or sniped to death every time you spawn. They had a little fun, and you should see that.

Invasion 1944 + DayZ = zombie nazis... Interesting combo, but not sure if it will be as popular as DayZ is now. However, when the DayZ server files are released to the public (officially!) we might be able to create something like it and test it!

Please Host activate SideChannel

Personallly I prefer servers without SideChat. It's not that I don't want to meet other survivors, but the fact that you can't just talk with eachother just makes the game more thrilling. Even Rocket said that without SideChat the great phrase "Anyone in Cherno?" would never exist, but now that it's gone it became a harder yet (IMHO) better game. However, like I already said multiple times at this forum, we do need an alternative method for long distance communication like radios. This will improve teamwork without the useless chatter of strangers (which anoyed me the most). -
If you're Dutch speaking I can invite you to the Double Dutch Clan (see link in my signature). We're a multi gaming clan with almost 600 members and 40 members (and counting) who play ArmA2 and DayZ. Our skills are from beginning players to ArmA2 veterans and we're always ready to help eachother when needed.

Those location orbs are a feature of ArmA2 and called "peripheral vision indicators", which are disabled at the Veteran setting. I'm not sure if you can set them locally or are set by the server, but the keys are: peripheralVisionAid = 0; // see "orbs" at border of screen visionAid = 0; // see "orbs" everywhere on the screen You might want to try this, but I think it's a serverside setting.

Can I install the ACE mod along with DayZ?

You can install any mod you want, but you have to make sure the other mods are not activated when playing DayZ (or the other way around). I use SixUpdater myself to have multiple presets for different mods and even servers, so I never have to worry about the mods except by starting the correct preset. -

Start steam and run both ArmA2 and ArmA2 Operation Arrowhead at least once (no need to play anything, just start the game till the main menu and exit). This should put the CD Key at your registry and will fix the message you recieve.

Wow, great list and nice drawings :D Although I'm sure we can find more different styles of players. eg. I'm a Squady He never play alone and always cover someones back or has his back covered. Teamwork is essential and perfect communication is required. You can't kill one without being killed by the other.

I'm not sure how you came up with this idea, since the "bottle on a gun" has nothing to do with sound suppressors (the correct term). The method of suppressing the sound from the muzzle can not be done by simply place a stuffed bottle at the barrel of shooting through a pillow. It might help a little bit, but won't help a lot at close range. Even real sound suppressors can't make the gun silent, it's still loud back which can be heard clearly when close enough. It will just suppress the sound to a level which is "normal" in loud places like a busy city centre or a bar full of people. And, not to forget, the ammo makes the most difference in all of this. Subsonic ammo (slower then the speed of sound) won't make the loud bang just like regular rounds. So by using a (real) sound suppressor AND using subsonic rounds, you will be able to shoot someone from a distance without the target knowing where it came from (unless the muzzle flash is seen). Anyone at close distance can still hear you. Hopefully this explanation helped you to understand that bottles are no silencers, and it takes a lot more to stay silent while firing a weapon.

That's the reason why I suggest to send it to the official channels, so they can 1) check the given logs and compare them with the HIVE logs (to make sure it's not a bug) and 2) issue a global ban since 1 server out of +1000 won't harm this (or any other) guy.

It's simple; this player spawned a weapons box and therfor confirmed as a hacker/scripter. Send the log files to the devs/ban crew, and they should be able to issue a global ban for this person (unless you can do it yourself as a server admin).

Well, it's stupid to hack in any way, even if it's your own private server... And by having Battle Eye enabled you banned yourself by hacking... So, it's simple; you've been stupid and now you expect us to help you... I think you can guess the answer yourself. -

Possible hacker "andre" with a Laser Marker US 1687

You know it's possible to be killed from a distance and with silenced weapons, right? So it's possible someone killed you with a headshot without you even knowing what happened... I've heard a lot of hackusations just because I can kill at larger distances. 2000m is no problem at all, so with the max distance in DayZ set at 1600m is easy mode ;) About the laser marker; no it's not a legit item, but it's possible he found it at a tent or by killing a hacker. Hiding it with the body (and therfor destroying it) is indeed the best thing to do!
