Phantomsmedia (DayZ)

Just bumping this shamelessly and adding my one piece. I've been hunting the internet for a while, and saw that this problem has been popping up in the past 24 hours quite a bit. I play DayZ, but the problem did NOT start with DayZ for me. I know that it is NOT related to the mod in anyway. I was instead playing with the ACE setup, then the base game and this problem persists. I really hope someone figures this out, maybe caused by the massive spike of players from the Steam Summer Sale? Doubt it... but still a possiblity. Could be a game breaking patch or something. Again, I hope someone fixes this. The answer will probably pop up in this thread, and I will do my best to keep an eye out for it. ---- EDIT ----- Adding some extra information: MANY of my friends tested this by hosting a quick game. No one could connect. It isn't a dedicated server problem, it is something bigger.

Instead of worrying about stuff like this, Rocket needs to fix the debug forest. Stuff like this should be based on server preference. Play on a VETERAN server, don't whine.

The heartbeat is extremely buggy, as it sometimes shows up, sometimes doesn't. When it does show, it does on bandits and survivors alike.

For one, when spawning, I immediately run for cherno. I don't run for the hills, as the time it would take to gather all the materials you mentioned would probably take 2hrs (If you are in the woods). If you go to cherno, you can just get everything in 20-30 minutes. If you die? So what, do it again. Play careful, and you won't need to try again, I've been through cherno tons of times. If you have 30 zombies after you, sprint to the nearest building and just walk out the other side. I really suggest NOT running into the closest woods with nothing ( I might have in previous versions, where we had guns/supplies), as it simply takes longer. Plus, I think everyone can enjoy sprinting through cherno, screaming, "FRIENDLY IN CHERNO! YEEHAW!" I used this city blitz tactic on my current character, and survived. I'm about 20 hours in with him, and not anywhere near dead. (Thx NVGs)

A simple way to fix all of this, and save you a LOT of time (Crawling that far would take you ages). First, press esc, then press respawn. Then make a new character. You'll probably get all the loot you had on you back, plus more if you spawned in a town like cherno in a quicker time than crawling to cherno. Or... You could check the castle, but there is an amazingly large chance morphine will not spawn.

I can just imagine OP standing directly next to this guy, head craned all the way around and over the other's shoulder, shouting into direct. If you don't have cover between you and a possible bandit/friendly, just shoot them. Better safe, rather than sorry.

No. If you trust someone, they'll end up shooting you in the back of the head because you found the NVG goggles and they didn't.

The best part, the music at the end, right after you kill him. Amazing, and nice tactics.

After popping into NWAF, getting a ghille suit, I ran down to green mountain. Here I found a red sedan, which contained an SVD camo, CZ550 and tons of ammo and supplies. Driving off to my camp, I spotted another camp, which I raided for an M4 with CCO and an M4 with Holo and M203. I went back to camp, then drove up to berezino. At NEAF I found some small supplies, but a helo crash site nearby. I snatched NVGs and an L85A2 RIS AWS. Content with my find, I went back to my car to find it missing. Oh well. :D

Once you get the car/military loot, I suggest driving to the outskirts of cherno and see if you may spot some noobs who wish to catch a bullet for you.
