I'm loving this "Loading Screen"..... patch is epic fail in my eyes since I can't even play it now.

So what happens when a few bandits kill some good guys and start wearing the captured outfits? :D

I hate Bandits with a passion but I feel they are an essential element to this game, it adds to the tension. If you come across someone on your travels will they or won't they attack you? Do you attack them? At the end of the day if the world went to shit and it was every man for himself like in DayZ. Some people would band together to help each other out but there would be plenty of people running around willing to bury a hatchet into your skull for the tin of beans in your backpack.

Finally been able to log back in, I was near Green Mountain in the woods. Now I'm in the middle of nowhere... All I can see is barren featureless terrain with hills in every direction. I still have all my stuff on me thank god. The only clue I have is that when I log in on the bottom right it says "Wilderness". I'm assuming I might be off the map somewhere, I have a compass so all I need is a direction and I can start walking I guess lol. Also people occasionally spawn in front of me then vanish after a few seconds, so far I've resisted the urge to bury my hatchet in the back of their heads :D

Took about 20 minutes and I ended up in the forest, it's dark but I continued through the woods and found some telephone lines. Been following those south and have found a road :) Thanks for the help guys.

Yup heading south east. Just glad I have a compass, food and drink. Cheers for the advice guys. Don't suppose you have any idea roughly I should end up once I get back to the map?

I'm at a loss as to why ARMA 2 looks pants for you. I'm Running a Core 2 Quad Q6600, 8GB of DDR2 RAM and a 2GB Geforce 560Ti. Except for the Graphics card I build this PC in May 2008. It runs ARMA 2 in 1920x1080, not on Ultra high but above normal on everything just fine.

I was thinking perhaps a few things in game could be tweeked to make surviving a lot harder. I mean it's tough atm but how about changing some things with regard to how food and water work, for example: A penalty for drinking water from some sources or needing to purify it perhaps? Cans of food, needing to find a tin opener or one of those swiss army knives to open it. I realise a lot of cans are ring pull now but it would add an element to the food situation. Food spoiling and preserving. Maybe have meat from hunted animals spoil after a time but have the ability to preserve it through drying, salting or smoking it. Weapon maintenace, maybe have weapons degrade if they are not looked after? I don't know if any of this is possible, I was just thinking while stuck at work with nothing to do :P. I apologise if these have already been suggested, I did a search but too many threads came up for me to check through

I like it the way it is atm, when it gets dark in game I log off and go to bed. If it was different I'd continue playing late into the night which would make me late for work. I start at 5am lol

+1 Also for not starting with a pistol. I whined like a girl when I first started because I had nothing and the Zombies were raping me in the ass but I stuck with it and learned how to avoid the zombies and most importantly how to lose them (thanks to some pointers on here) when they see me through a building with their xray vision lol. I've not found a firearm yet but I have a hatchet and that's kept any Zombies away. I've found pretty much everything else I need that's essential and have been alive for 3 days now :) I just wish I could log in and play, I have ARMA X and I'm getting the server version error thing that won't be fixed for me until 1.7.2 :/

Seriously not being able to defend yourself at the start is lame. I have hands and feet both of which are weapons all be it crude ones. If the game limitations prevent punching and kicking zombies at least give us a stick or something with which to try and clobber the lone chasing zombie. I enjoy this game a lot and think the idea of it is awesome but after playing through 5 characters (for around an hour each time) and finding no loot at all I'm starting to lose interest. I want to get out and explore the game more but atm all I seem to be doing is trying to steak into a village until a bugged zombie spots me through a building then begins the endless chase through the woods. :(

You also drop your stuff while swimming. Cheers for that I wondered where my pack went lol

Even some sort of "shove" to knock a zombie over and give you some precious seconds to leg it and put some distance between you and the zombie would be nice. Feels at the moment that once your spotted it's useless to run because you can't out run them. The only way I found I can get away is to go for a swim in the sea and swim away then come back to the shore further down the coast. Not much help if your inland tho.

I know it's an alpha the whole point of that is to point out bugs so they can be fixed. Prone. I've tried this, it doesn't work. I got told by someone in game that crouching doesn't work any more and to use prone all the time. I've been doing that and only that with still no luck. I was in a village on my last try and it was pitch dark. I couldn't see anything hardly, yet a zombie comes running from behind a house and starts hitting me. I spent ages crawling into the village, I avoided other zombies and got closer to them than this bugged one that spotted me through a building.

I feel your pain man, zombies are bugged and have x-ray vision. I'd be happy with the ability to punch or kick as I can do that in real life last time I checked. I'm sure if I was faced with some crazy zombie I wouldn't just stand there and get munched I would be lashing out with my fists and feet.

Prone doesn't work very well or the Zombies are bugged to fuck! I've crawled into a few villages now after patiently waiting for a nice big gap in the wandering Zombies only to have some random Zombie run through a building and start hitting me or come running from a good 100 metres away after somehow spotting me :(
