It's called server hopping. Lots of people do it but it's considered cheating. Not much you can do about it except be extremely careful looting high value areas because you never know when a server hopper will suddenly appear. It works both ways tho, I loot places with friends and we cover the rooms while looting, caught a few hoppers out this was and looted some nice gear off them.

I don't like it but I understand why I can't do it. Personally I'd like to be able to boot someone to make space but I'd much rather have a full server and a reasonable community on it. I would like to be able to ban people for things server hopping and alt+F4 in combat, these can be awkward to prove 100% and I wouldn't wish to ban some one unless I could be 100%. However I feel these problems will be corrected by dev team in time.

I hate ATVs in Arma 2, they are anything but "All terrain Vehicles". You only have to drive them over a matchstick and they will flip over....

Currently helping friends get into the game and to the lvl I am. Patrolling the area around the camp we have set up and ambushing bandits. We do try and help players we come across but the amount of times we have found a person or persons in game and had to shoot them because they wouldn't listen to a warnings or tried too shoot us when we spoke to them is astounding.

Server hopping is lame as fuck and only losers do it, the same sorta scumbags that install aimbots and wallhacks. That's my two pence on it. That said its something we have to put up with and learn to deal with just like the glitches. Exact same thing happened to me and a m8 yesterday, we were looting the airfield and a server hopper got the drop on him in the barracks. Fortunately my m8 was quick to the trigger and took the tosser down as well before he died. I looted both corpses of all the good stuff I could take then put the rest into the bag on my mates corpse and hid both bodies to prevent any of his mates getting anything. I got the fuck outa there after that. Words of advice: Don't get attached to any gear, you will lose it in the lamest and most irritating fashion at some point. Deal with it. Always assume there is someone there especially around high value places like the airfields. The fact you're there says it all. When looting buildings like barracks, supermarkets and hospitals be quick and expect a server hopper to suddenly appear. Have a friend cover the building if you can and always shoot on sight, server hoppers always will.

That's all well and good until someone finds it. As big as this game map is people always seem to find your sent and trash it.

Start running east. It takes between 20 minutes and 2 hours. Odds are you will make it :)

Same problem. I'm using ARMA X retail boxed set. I get passed the lobby screen and passed the loading screen with the tanks, then sometimes it will say "creating character" but usually it will just stick on "Loading". Longest I have left it on "Loading" is 1 hour so it's broken for sure. I sometimes get to see some text come up in the bottom left in global chat, stuff like "Regroup" or sometimes a bit of text in Direct Chat. This happens on any server I try. I'm using Six Launcher. So far I've tried: Joining servers from inside ARMA 2's own browser Beta patches 94444 and 94700 Reinstalling Battleye Deleting the ARMA 2 folder in "My Documents" Copying the ARMAOA.EXE from the beta folder into the ARMA 2 folder. Raging on the forums Shouting at my Monitor Playing Battlefield 3. Spending time with the kids. Doing this though spawned me on the beach with a new character, I lost all my stuff (Alice pack, matches, pistol with 7 mags, compass, watch, binoculars, hatchet, hunting knife, water bottle, food, plenty of morphine, blood packs, pain killers, epi-pens, road flares, bandages etc etc) I had all I needed to survive :-( but I'm just happy to be able to play again. I haven't tried to roll back to 1.7.1.5. Losing gear and starting again doesn't bother me. Maybe a dev could comment on what makes ARMA X so special that it's such a bag of fail when it comes to DayZ. It would be nice to know why, even if it's something silly like letters in the player ID when other copies of ARMA 2 use only numbers that causes a headache with coding or something or the CD Key is one character longer on copies of ARMA X and it fouls things up. This isn't the first time ARMA X has been to blame for issues with characters loading.

The hot fix will only work on servers running the hot fix. You can't install it the jump on any server, it has to be a 1.7.2.1 server.

Yup I'm using this now, sucks tho because I can't play with any of my friends but it will do for now. The above suggestion works for me flawlessly so anyone else with a similar situation to me I recommend you try this.

I'd reckon it might well be you and the free version of Arma 2. The free version simply isn't meant to be used in the way you are using it, you could be getting all sorts of file errors.

What version of Arma 2 are you using? Retail? Steam download? Arma X retail bundle? Don't give up just yet, there are some solutions you can try if you are using a Steam version. If like me you are using Arma X then you're likely stuck unless you want to update to the experimental 1.7.2.1 patch.

The game is broken atm for some people, seems most people with ARMA X can't play since 1.7.2. There is a server hotfix 1.7.2.1, I downloaded the client files for this and it works. Sadly I was respawned on the coast and had lost all my stuff. Shit happens tho, it's part of the game. At least I can play again. Would have thought someone would have been checked the 1.7.2 patch works for people with ARMA X prior to 1.7.2 being released tho.....

I can play again now using this release. I respawned so I lost that tin of beans I had and my hatchet boo hoo. Oh well lol. Quick question anything I find from this point on I'm gonna lose again when 1.7.2.1 becomes official?

Same here, I'm stuck at the loading screen. From what I've read it might be something to do with ARMA X boxed edition, peeps were posting in another thread that like me they own the ARMA X boxed retail edition and cannot get past the loading screen. Do you have the same version of ARMA?

I'm stuck with the same problem and also have a boxed copy of ARMA X, all my friends have steam copies and don't have any issues so I'm wondering if this problem is an ARMA X issue. Will try this experimental patch in the morning and see how it goes.

I tell you what's really making me angry. Staring at a loading screen.

All these people complaining about the Zombies detection range and losing gear, think yourselves lucky you can actually play. I'm still stuck staring at the fucking loading screen. Fix that shit first to hell with missing gear and super Zombie senses, I couldn't care less about that. I just want to be able to play again.

As the title says, is there anything I can do to resolve this on my end? Since the latest patch I can't join any servers :(. I've tried rebooting and leaving it at the loading screen for ages to no avail someone suggested I format and reinstall Windows....fuck that. Seriously tho is there anything anyone can suggest or is it just a waiting game until something is fixed or another patch is released?

You'll have to talk me through this so I can try it. The beta patch I'm already using but I don't have an OP Arrowhead folder or a beta folder. I do have a ARMAOA.exe tho inside my ARMA 2 folder.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I tried the latest beta pack already but I'll give the other suggestions a try the second I get back online. Woke up this morning and there's a storm outside like something outa the Bible! It's killed the phone lines, Internet and power :-/ so I'm posting this on my iphone lol. Ho hum it's always something :-D The board games will get dusted off soon to give me and the kids something to do.
