  1. Interesting, that's almost the same setup I have, except mine's a desktop, so the GPU isn't the mobile edition and my processor's overclocked to 4.0ghz... I get fine framerates though with some mixed settings, 40-60 generally with some bouts of 25 in the cities (ugh). I think they should force shadows in the SA, otherwise you've got an automatic disadvantage for simply wanting your game to look good.

What to do after you have the best gear?

Well, I generally run around for a while... maybe even put a car together, then get bored. And do one of these three things, depending on my mood: 1. Go to NWA and kill as many zombies as I possibly can. Don't forget to loot all the buildings when you run out of ammo! It's amazing what it can do for your score, and strangely enough, I've never been killed by players while doing this. After I run out of all ammo, I hack zombies till I die. 2. Go to Berezino and try to give away my stuff to someone without them killing me. It's only happened once, successfully (unfortunately). Then "restart". 3. Go to Cherno or Elektro and kill people who have guns. (edit: sometimes I substitute Balota for the cities)

I am not proud: DayZ Mass Murder Montage

Nice vid... Wait, are we all supposed to post kill montages now? :P

Anyone else miss when you were a noob?

I remember crawling everywhere to avoid the dreaded zombies... took so long to get to all those closed doors. The most fun I've ever had army crawling a character for hours at a time, lol. My wife must have thought I'd gone crazy. I always avoided Cherno and Elektro because something in the game description talked about the cities being more dangerous because of zombies, and the forums talked about all the bandits. I was expecting some impossible death trap or something. Finally, one night playing during night time hours in-game (something else that was still fun as a newb), I decided I'd take a look at Cherno, so I snuck up to one of the hills outside it. I can still remember coming over the ridge and seeing the ghostly buildings silhouetted there, and right then someone lit a flare in the city and started shooting. Scared the crap outa' me, but I watched for a couple minutes and then ran. Yeah, I sorta' liked all the newness of it. I'd go back if it was possible, but on the flipside, I also like being a "grizzled veteran" too. Edit: My avatar is a screenshot I took right after I made my first kill of another player... that's another big thing that gets lost over time, that gut wrenching, heart pounding uncertainty when you get in that situation. I remember wrestling with whether or not to take the shot for an "eternity" before I finally pulled the trigger...

What is so fun about this game

All of the above. DayZ basically is the best game at taking away the psychological distance between you and your character. I don't know exactly why it's so good at it, but my theory is that it is because of the investment demanded to get anywhere, and the high price of dying. Over time you become more and more attached to your character until you start feeling like you're actually part of the game. This is what leads to shaky hands and pounding heart, those are real life reactions to situations where your life is in danger or huge consequences are on the line. Arma2 is an exceptionally good mil-sim, DayZ is a post apacocalyptic life-sim, and the best one out there at this time.

Where have you found your NVG's?

I've been playing this game for a long long time, and never found a single pair of them. Not at helis, not at NWAF, nothing... A while back after I convinced one of my friends to start playing, he found a pair on a crashed heli the second night he played. I was a bit annoyed. :P I don't kill a lot of players though, and I don't kill a lot of zombies, so it seems that's the best way to find them, and may explain my troubles.

Why do you use 3rd person?

Maybe you could be locked to first person for a set amount of time upon firing your gun (with the timer reset every time you fire)... that way once you initiate a firefight with someone, tactics and "realism" kick in. But for everything else (scavenging, survival, running around and scouting, etc.) you would have the nice third person "game" feel.
  8. I think I like the zombies best for now. Improvement needed? Yes. Complete change of monster? Nah... Headshots being the only thing to kill would be nice. Definitely make me avoid aggros more.
  9. I play on this server all the time, and it's a good one. Thanks for the good work guys. I'm definitely excited about using ST_movement, so annoying getting hung up on stuff. :P

    I Ask Elektro Snipers This

I go to Cherno and Elektro to die after I've tired of my current character. It's like the "elephant graveyard" or something. Since I mostly play solo, there's only so much fun to be had in the north. So when I'm ready to start over, I stock up on steaks and ammo and go to Elektro or Cherno to see how long I last against the banditos. I don't kill unarmed people though, I usually just ignore them and run away to find a new area of the city. :P I've never actually been sniped by any of these fabled "spawn sniper" creatures though.

Few new ideas to implement in DayZ

It would be nice for the rope if the first time you used it there was a fifty percent chance of falling to your death, and then every other time you use it, the percentage drops a little, until you're a pro. :P

Would you Abort if in Danger of death?

I have never combat or zombie logged. I actually played the game for about a week or so before I got on the forums, and the idea never even came up in my mind, and this is when I was dying the most. After I hopped on the forums, I started seeing a lot of "Alt+f4" hatred and "combat logging" stuff, and my first thought was, "Huh?" Anyways, since I've learned what it was, I've never done it, although I do understand the excuses better now that I consistently get good gear. Gear is not a good reason to screw up the whole game though. It may be easy to justify, especially as prevalent as it is, but not everyone does it, and most everyone hates it when it's done to them.

Why do you survivors kill me? I'm a hero!

Heh, some survivor ran up to me like that once saying, "Friendly, friendly! Do you need any medical stuff? Blood? Morphine?" Since I did have low blood (like, 7000 or something around there), I decided to give it a go and instead of running, I told him I was friendly and needed a blood transfusion. He came up and shot me in the head. :P That happens enough, and you start getting jaded. Although, you'd think the hero skin would help out a bit...
  14. You walk outside and glance down your empty street and think it's time for a server restart because the zombies haven't spawned yet.

    Weapons Nerf - Rocket responds

Has this been fixed or are they still "nerfed"? I'm just curious because I saw comments about it taking four shots to kill a zombie with the revolver, and I just killed a zombie with one shot from a revolver last night with a fully up-to-date copy (and it wasn't even a headshot).
