Flares wouldn't really work as a weapon i don't think, although you can't really quote me knowing how that would work. In all honesty, flare guns should be there, but not really out of any other reason than "reality", signals, and what not. Would work well with my factions idea, especially if you made multiple camps, had a "color flare" system and enough flares to do so. I actually agree flare guns would be a good thing to find in the back of a pickup or something

Wolf Zombies in woods and the ability to leave notes.
[email protected] replied to munchy's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Reading things is a part of the zombie apocalypse. While trying to find some sort of human to contact, either via radio or via some other means like flare guns, you would want to create notes for someone who happens to come through here. Example: "Watch out, crazy guy holed up in grocery store" or "Contact radio channel 8 near Pulkovo." It's more or less another means of communications for not finding a radio (if we ever get them.) -
free range zombies and more wildlife
[email protected] replied to oktyabr's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Actually, i've seen quite a few zombies randomly in the woods, it's just like you said though, that random guy who took a stroll. plus, there's not really any deer stands, so no deer hunters. Plus there's no deer. PLUS, you have to go into towns anyway to get food and water, usually. And ammo. Not to mention random shacks in the middle of no where... and random houses in the middle of no where... I do agree we need a LITTLE more wildlife.. only a little. Just more variety if anything. Also should add "hunting" to it. Meaning you can't just run up to a deer and shoot it, you actually have to be sneaky. -
The problem is, however, "Run run run get to place where ALLL my friends are at, take 30 minutes doing so, get killed from sniper" "Run run run get killed by zombies" "take 4 hours crawling, get killed by friends thinking i was zombie." In all honesty, you have to FIND a tent before you can even do that, so it makes it slightly difficult to begin with. And from there, you don't just get all your stuff back anyways. Plus, while the game recognizes you as a completely new person, to other people you are not. Might as well be somewhere they can find you/can't find you. Plus it makes having tents have a purpose. Yeah it's nice to spawn on the beach the first few times learning what to do and all that, but having to do so when you've been playing a while... can get a bit annoying.

Well i see what he's saying, he's saying that we should be given a "purpose" to try to survive. Personally, I'd like to see "player driven purpose" Example: Someone manages to build a safe-haven boat island thing. (which should totally be a thing), invites people to boat on out to safe-haven boat island thing. Again, you'd have to have acre and long range radios for this to work... Or if there was an abandoned carrier that you could only reach via helicopter? eeeeey? Or small island free of zombies? You'd still have to return to get more food and supplies, but you could be free of people. Something like that.. but player driven. with acre.

Not really a class based things, but lets say you find a book. You can "read" a book and go down that 'class' route. The reason i say this is because then you can't just be god-tier everything. You still have to rely on people, but if you find say "medical studies", a book that gives you the initial perk of "Base Medic" or something like that. From there if you find other medical studies books, which should be relatively rare mind you, you can then gain more perks for yourself. Probably a max of 4. So the first perk just makes it so bandages heal a little blood or can have the same effect of painkillers, or something like that, and blood transfusions give 40% blood instead of 25% or something like that. I'm actually getting tired now from typing so much, lol. But that's the general idea is Open Ended. You can also "delearn" your perk trend, go back and learn another one. And it uses up the book when you do. -

I don't know if that's possible in the engine... really... -
Well my other idea was that the tent disappears after some time. Here were my thoughts of how the general script could go: Person leaves, tent stays after for 10-20 minutes. If someone comes across it, they can't "Take" the tent, but they can rummage through and steal their items. Person comes back, tent returns almost immediately give or take about a minute or two (could also vary based on if players are around or if there is an object in the way, in which, let say another tent was there, the "players" tent could simply move about 10m. Again players could rummage, but not steal the tent.) If player leaves and joins another server, tent will be instantly removed, but added to the new server, even if player disconnects quickly. The reason i say you can't take their tent is that you're already probably stealing the rest of their stuff. Now you're taking their spawn point. Though, i'd have to think a little more about how the game dynamics would change with that, haven't even drawn ANYTHING about this, too busy with my other ideas. And i don't mind with people agreeing with me. Nor disagreeing with me. If you agree with me it means that my ideas actually have merit and i should keep trying to make them better and even see if i could script it myself.

Flying bird people or Crows attack humans

No on crows. See THIS THREAD as for why I disagree with animals turning into zombies. -
Fighter: Can you by chance see if they could get one to me as well?

Wolf Zombies in woods and the ability to leave notes.
[email protected] replied to munchy's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
:D hahaha. Yeah... But let's not digress into Noob-politics here. Ambient life would be great. Hawks to shoot, more animals to gut and possibly make items out of. >-> I know that this isn't minecraft, but... Zombies and post apocalyptic stuff SHOULD be about making stuff to make do. Hell, maybe you could find a way to TRAIN a dog. o.O -

Haha, thanks Mensing... And i'm not even done writing it yet XD Hahah. (I have about... 40% of my ideas just for these things alone written... Let alone i still want to draw some things up and maybe even take a crack of scripting it. Though, I would need someone to help me as I've never tried scripting before. -
Munchy: You shouldn't have sandbags, hesco, bunkers. What we should have is wooden structures, like Shack Housing, wooden "guard posts" (like ground based ones), barriers, and possibly razor wire. In all honesty, camps should mostly be a camp, but if you go out and procure items you should be able to build up a camp-fort type things. Just... you have to make it kinda... Janky and "apocalyptic"
-
Personally, i'd like to see encampments be persistent. At least when i put a tent down it should either stay there forever, or disappear when i do and come back when i do...
-
For the most part, i would rather have a camp than nothing at all...

Wolf Zombies in woods and the ability to leave notes.

Zombie dogs are not really necessary. I think a dog or two that get scared off or a group of dogs protecting their homes would be find enough. Zombie dogs always turned me off of zombie movies and what not. What's next? Zombie COWS? Dafuq? All in all, i think ambient life SHOULD be there, like a bear or dog, but only should attack if you A) Shoot one of them B) Invade their home. If they're just roaming about, you should be able to scare them off or just ignore them. Wild Life should just act as normal. This isn't resident evil where GIANT SQUID ZOMBIE OF DOOM COMES OUT OF THE OCEAN AND ATTACKS YOU D: Note's or "journals" would be wonderful. >-> -
Personally i think gas stations should run out over time, and have a respawn time of like, a week or something... if the mission could stay up that long... lol.
-
Personally, an end game would completely ruin it. I think the end goal should be survival, and it should allow you to "recreate" a small civilization. I kind of put my thoughts into the "Factions / Trading / Role Playing" thread. An End Goal gets rid of the entire "Zombie RPG" feature of this game. Now what WOULD be interesting is if you flew so far or if you drove so far you could "drive" into another server that was another map. But an end goal.... the zombie apocalypse doesn't end. You either keep surviving or you die. That's pretty much how every zombie movie ends.

Settings & Clans not good for Mod
[email protected] replied to Rl-Warrior's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Personally, Rl-Warrior, and I realize you wern't talking to me, but you seem to be the kind of asshat douchebag who has a job I don't really think you deserve. In all honesty, I've never even heard of you, though i have heard of most of the people i've seen playing lately, and even the dev's of this mod. To be frank, i feel like your life doesn't matter to most people and you're doing this vying for attention, or you're just a complete sociopath who feels like you can disregard people on the internet simply because you don't feel the threat of getting punched in the face. Now, i personally have to say i'm currently unemployed, my last job was at mcdonalds, and i don't have all the things i would like, although I will admit my computer is better than most people. (See Grass and distance thread). My personal opinions of you are as follows: I am not jealous of you in any way, shape, or form. Personally, my life is great. My girlfriend is awesome, and actually have some people wondering how I got someone so beautiful. My computer skills are, somewhat lacking lately, but i'm relearning, and I'm happy to know that most people think i have a lot of potential. That SAID, Your english skills are quite atrocious, your attitude is that of a 12 year old who has no friends, and your mentality, well... let's just say if I was in the position of hiring you, i'd rather call the cops. I'd recommend you stop making yourself look like an ass. You're going to find yourself on the wrong side of someone's mood and you're going to regret it. Edit: Also the fact that your title on the forum is "Player Killer" and your "status" in your signature that says bandit informs me that you're just some sort of meta-troll feeding on this thread. Mind that i realize that i'm feeding you, but at the same time the fact that my post's are somewhat nonchalant and uncaring gives you a form of dissatisfaction, mainly because you realize i'm not mad or angry. I'm just telling you. Personally, it doesn't matter. You'll die eventually and no one will ever remember who you are. -

Settings & Clans not good for Mod
[email protected] replied to Rl-Warrior's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Personally, from what i've heard among my friends who are NOT hardcore players on UO, they actually wish ALL the servers had forced First Persona and no reticle. And that was about 7-8 people. Actually, funny story. One person, who i never saw on UO, came in and asked "First person only?" Everyone replied "Yeah, its forced." Person replied "Good. How it should be." You're just butthurt. Plus, you can force first person through the GAME ITSELF, there is NOTHING the mod can do. =/
