  1. Yes, you'll still get poor fps in citys. There's no way around it. The only possible way would be if you had an INSANE amount of RAM, made a RAMDisk big enough to fit the whole arma 2 / arma 2 OA on it, and ran it off of that. If you read anything in this thread you would know why that would help

Do you have all your filter options set the same?
  3. I fully recommend this server - good performance and haven't had any bad experiences (abusive admin or whatnot) yet. :)

This is ALPHA FOR A REASON. You aren't PLAYING, you're TESTING ;)

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2.4

This is literally IMPOSSIBLE to do because the arma engine doesn't support it!
  7. Cars only stay on one server.. they're SUPER ass rare because on most servers people have already taken and hid them.

    Helicopters??????

Yes there are no working choppers.. if there were, people would have them. There's not that many possible spawn locations for them ( at least there weren't before).

    Low frames GTX 580

It has to do with the server.. try a new one. For odd reasons, low server performance can effect local FPS. That's why most servers restart regularly

use it however you want... mildots are mainly used for rangefinding... very useful on the as50 because you can actually zero the damn thing. Anyway, the basic calculation is the height of the object ( in arma, a human is 1.8 meters tall), times 1000 divided by the height in mildots. So an example... let's say we have a target running across a field. He's 1.8 meters tall * 1000 is 1800. Next, put the horizontal line on his feet and measure how many mildots it is to his head.. lets just say 2.2. In arma, you can normally round things down when the target is at a reasonable difference, so we'll just round to 2 mildots. 1800/2 is 900 meters. Since he was a little bit taller than 2, we know he's a little less than 900 meters away. Now you can zero your scope to 900 meters, aim a little below center mass (DON'T go for headshots, as50 is a 1shot anywhere on the body), account for how he's moving, and shoot.

Auto run is a must !

most people cant afford one and anyway it's overpriced crap... you can get 2x the power (almost) for the same price with a desktop
  14. I agree with this... I wouldn't do that currently but once I die (it's inevitable unfortunately), I'll take that job.

Crap I'm writin this on a phone and accidentally hit submit... Anyway... That is a short list too, but the disadvantages are pretty severe, but not unworkable. So, to combat the disadvantages and make use of the advantages, you're going to need to do a few things. First thing is practice your stealth: youre goin to need to be up close and personal to get anything out of the damn thing. Getting within 20-30 feet is essential, and preferably without your target noticing so he Isn't moving around haphazardly. Next you're goin to want two pieces of gear bad: a good side arm and a hatchet. If you get caught in a medium range engagement or a tight spot, you might be able to bail yourself out. A hatchet to finish off downed targets silently if you run out of crossbow ammo, you won't want to give up any of the crossbow's small list of advantages. Sorry for any typos, this was typed on an iPhone. Also, hope i helped some :)

Crossbow is mainly useful for zombie killing; it's quiet. Anyway, pointers. Keep in mind I havent used the crossbow too extensively myself, but from my experience here's what I have to say. First let's start with the advantages of using it: *its quiet *powerful, usually knocks a person out in one shot *recover ammo *ammo quite common Well that's quite a short list, but workable. Next the disadvantages: *low ammo *high reload time *hard to aim N
  17. I'm primarily a sniper right now but I could also fit as a navigator/scout.... Something like I'm the rabbit and survey the situation before everyone else goes in. I'm all geared for sniper/looter combination right now since I'm solo... Dmr + m4a3 + ghillie in the bag FTW :D anyway pm me if you'd like... Im currently somewhat involved elsewhere but I'd be happy to switch over here, tighter community :)
  18. Sorry dude but that isn't your role as an overwatch sniper. Your role would be to counter-snipe and eliminate high-value targets... Leave unarmed people for your boots on the ground to take care of and keep them protected from other snipers and armed enemies.
  19. Date/Time: June 21, 2012 What happened: I was heading west towards a deerstand near the NW airfield, and as I was running across a clearing I saw a bunch of zombies and then saw that they were patrolling around a crashed heli site. My heart started fluttering because there was a good chance I would get something really good. So I crawled up to the heli, scroll wheel.... nothing. Thinking maybe I needed to go to the other side, I crawled to the other side and tried again... still nothing. Seeing as there was nothing I could get from it and I was vulnerable to snipers, I took off across to the deer stand, but I'm really disappointed that I didn't get anything because it's not every day you find a crashed heli site ;) Where you were: East of the NW airfield What you were doing: Explained above *Current installed version: 1.7.1.5 *Server(s) you were on: Dallas 22 PS... if it's still there I will add screenshots later today.
