i think they will just respawn. Sniper rifles should be removed from the game in my opinion. They arent used for killing zombies and are a pain like they are in every other shooter.

Hi, You need to press G to bring up your inventory right click on the flash light and select remove from tool belt which will equip it to your secondary weapon slot. Then when you press L it will work. Note when your running it moves all over the place which is normal but is usable when your working. Your starting with the correct items everyone starts with now. I've read to ignore the cfg weapons error. Doesnt seem to affect the game in anyway.

Hi, After seeing several intersting youtube videos I eagerly pucharsed Arma 2 CO on steam leaving it to download over night. I awoke this morning like a child on Christmas. Arma 2 CO runs fine getting better FPS than I thought with all the settings cranked up. Then I installed the beta patch and six updater which i used to install DayZ.... Steam says I've played a total of 58 minutes of Arma 2 Today and half of that must have been Arma tutorials as I've never played the game before. The bottom line is when I log onto a server with a ping of 16 - 30 the game lags and freezes every 5 - 10 seconds and fraps is showing 7-10 fps down from 40-60 in Arma 2 CO. I've read the various forum posts of optimisations including reg tweaks, hyper threading and tried various resolutions and graphics settings the result 7-10 fps with freezes every 5 -10 seconds. Don't get me wrong despite been extremely disappointed and £25 out of pocked I do appreciate as TotalBiscut says Alpha is Alpha and your experience may vary but to not be able to play the game at all is kinda pushing it. Does anyone have any idea when these issues are going to be addressed or when the next patch is due?

I think it just might be. For anyone who's had the pleasure of reading Frank Herbert's novel Dune or seen the film may remember one of the opening lines "If history teaches us anything, it is simply this: every revolution carries within it the seeds of its own destruction. And empires that rise, will one day fall." I was just shot in the back in Electro, no big deal I was out to kill players anyway so fairs fair and this was my 20th-ish play though. The problem is after 20ish play through's I know the buildings you can go in, I know where the good weapons are (Cant seem to find Alice packs though) and I understand the zombie AI so as not to trigger it.... What else is their todo but kill other players? Then, faced with another baked bean hunt I realised if I wanna shoot people why not play Tribes Ascend or BF3? ARMA 2 is a Military Similator, the combat and controls are just too clunky to enjoy PVP like you can with a game that's designed purely for PVP. Not to mention the appalling player models and textures. I know they are planning to add more stuff to the game like different clothes for weather etc but its just seems like delaying the inevitable what do I do now? Oh lets kill other players... As a concept DayZ seemed to bring together the simplicity of an addictive game like Tetris with the life taking over engagement of an MMO. In reality the baked bean hunt just gets a bit tedious while the final goal of PVP is ruined by ARMA 2. OR maybe I've just played it a little too much over the last couple of days.

Hi, I often hear the loud buzzing of flies which i though meant there was a dead player around. However after a thorough search I probably only find 1 in 10/15. Are the bodies despawing but the the noise is still there or is it a bug? Thanks.

Getting pissed off with game functionality working correctly such has hardly any explorable buildings or a spawning without a way to defend yourself is perfectly ok but as you pointed out its alpha despite the version being 1.7.1.5 which would indicate a version 1 full release with a lot of patches its actually 0.3.1.7.

Hi, When I start without a weapon during day light hours I sneak and then run around buildings if I get zombie aggro. At night the former is difficult because you cant see the zombies and the later isnt possible as you cant see where your going with the flashlight bouncing up and down. What am I suppose to do?

First 3 players I met shot me. No I shoot first and don't ask questions later just loot them. The exception to this rule is if they are unarmed.

I agree with him. NO way to defend yourself makes the game boring and tedious. I actually tried to get a refund on ARMA 2 CO (why would I want to play that now?) but steams a bitch.

This thread seems to have generated a lot of hostility. The guys expressing his opinion of the game as many others have. I agree with him. Starting with no way to defend yourslef ruins the game. I dont want them to make the game any easier dont turn off PVP dont add bandit skins back in. Dont weaken the zombies or slow them down. Starting with no weapon sucks.

I've seen a lot of threads like this and have made a similar post myself. Computer games these days are too easy and many people have been spoiled by things like auto aim etc. I like challenging games and have been in Masters for Starcraft 2 for quite a while. Games dont get more difficult than SC2 (Apart from SC1) and the learning curve on that game is way beyond this. However..... Starting without a way to defend yourself makes the game tedious and boring. I've done relatively well a couple of times had plenty of ammo food etc and both times been killed by other players. No problem. PVP should be on. I didnt want to be a dick and kill people because the game is hard enough but if i played again you gotta do what you gotta do to survive so I would. Seems to me the developers need to make a decision to keep the hardcore nature of ARMA 2 and its community or keep the game challenging and realistic but make it more available to mainstream players. I actually was planning on getting a refund on ARMA 2 CO I bought yesterday as I've no interest in playing it but Steams refund policy is its digital you cant have one. So maybe I'll look in on the game at a latter stage.

Agreed after sleeping on it and playing a couple of times this morning its not very fun in its current state.

I too am pretty frustrated about with DayZ. Maybe I just had too high hopes for it. The start of the game without anyway to defend yourself is unrealistic, tedious, boring and just no fun. Oh a single zombie has caught me again YAY This mod has come from the mil sim community for the mil sim community. My guess is the game is only going to become more frustrating when you start with no clothes a broken leg and 30 seconds to crawl into a building with a zombie in hopes of finding what you need.

Hey, So after several hours of frustratingly tweaking setting patches installing game booster and RAMDisk I finally managed to squeeze 20 FPS out of DayZ (Despite ARMA 2 running at 40-60 FPS). So now I've just spent the next 2 hours frustratingly crawling around buildings you cant go in finding no weapons then been unable to defend myself when a single zombie spots me from 30 yards. From what I understand everyone used to spawn with a Gun. Now to keep the game real I can understand not everyone carries a Gun but you need some way to defend yourself against a single zombie. I'm sure those who love to spend their Saturdays sitting in a tank for 10 hours in ARMA 2 just love this hardcore shit but its mainstream appeal seems pretty lacking. Dont get me wrong perma death and one shot and you dead fantastic. Make the zombies even harder to kill if you want but spawning without a way to defend yourself. Really??? Like I said in the title this game is the biggest let down since I encountered my first wonderbra.

I'm having similar problems with DayZ apparently it started with the 1.7x patch and they are working on it. If your system can run ARMA 2 CO ok then hopefully when a new patch comes out you'll be able to play. I've spent several hours today applying various tweaks and managed to eventually get 20 fps but do yourself a favor and wait for the patch to come out. Looking at Rockets twitter and previous release dates shouldnt be more than a couple of days.

I agree my mothers 65 and suffers from old age incontinence. Nothing in that draw but a bad time. But you can throw a bottle or can. Get them to look the other way and then walk out the door. Yeah I just been trying this but I hit the door frame alerting the zombie and got stuck trying to get out. Doors and zombies this game will be the end of me.
