I had a similar problem with Arma 2. So here is what i did: went into the steam folder -> arma 2 -> common redist -> installed all the utilities. The same folder is there in DayZ, with it's own directx and vcredist. Install them both, restart your pc and report back. Also, use the launch option -malloc=system in steam launch parameters for DayZ

So, i bought many new parts especially for DayZ, and yeah, the FPS in cities, like Cherno, and Elektro, is awesome (around 60 all the time) but when i am in a forest and look at trees, it drops to around 25, which is... weird. Very weird. Everyone gets fps issues in cities, and has fine fps in forests, and i have issues in forests ;/ My specs: i5 4670k GTS450 (i don't have money for a better gpu right now, i'm saving up for a gtx760, but it will take "some" time) 8GB 1600mhz RAM msi z87-g43 mobo windows 7 ultimate 64bit

Ahh, almost a year passed since i created this thread... i was a complete newbie back then. Been playing DayZ for the whole year, and i must say- this is the best game i EVER played.

Rich people... :D But if someone poor, like me, will read this thread in the future- i guess the Phenom 965 will be fine.

Maybe look at your antialiasing settings, is it enabled? if so, set the ATOC option to not anti-alias trees.

I... i don't really know, i cant check how it is with the memory, because when i minimize the game when it-already-started-lagging, it just freezes my pc. AND, i know it's not a good system, but it shouldn't slow down like that, you know? I mean, first it runs fine (at least for me) then it slows down.. 1 more thing: the game starts lagging faster if im traveling a lot, especially using fast vehicles. It looks like it would... i don't know, after loading some textures, models, RAM just doesn't clear, and then it loads up everything from the hdd, could it be that? ;/

Hello. In the beginning: sorry for my English. So... DayZ normally runs on my pc at like 25 fps, which is fine to me. But after some time, it starts to lag, the more i play, the more it lags, when i press escape, it takes like 10 seconds to load up the menu, building models load extremely slowly, fps gets down all the time, when i try to close the game after like 2 hrs of playing, it sometimes takes like ten minutes to shut it down, and sometimes it completely freezes my pc. I have to restart my pc then, for everything to work again fine, for another time. Closing and opening the game doesn't help. My specs: GTS 450 AMD 5200 64 x2 2.6 2GB RAM WIN 7 64 BIT I know this isn't a good pc, but it should run on 25 fps, and not slow down after time. Thank You for any help.

1. It will only be on the server you saved it in. 2. I think it's because the game is buggy, but i'm not sure. 3. idk... 4. I think they can get in while you're driving. To safely log off- leave the truck hidden in a forest.

You made a good choice. The double barreled shotgun is terrible, because of the little "magazine" and terrible iron sights. I never used the lee-einfield, cuz when i found it i already had the winchester, but i'm 100% sure it's better than the doble barreled shotgun.

Hi, i played dayz for a few hours, and i don't know 1 thing. How to put items inside my backpack? I mean, i tried to do it, but the items (DMR magazines) just disappeared. There was enought space in the backpack to put them inside. The only way i can put items inside the backpack is when i find some loot, and then open the backpack. Can someone explain how to do it without the need to find loot? ;/
