I don't know. Does this forum have a search function? Given there are already 50 of these f-ing threads you probably don't even need to use the search.

A Google Street View tour of Chernarus (updated)
AlfalphaCat replied to larrylongbottom's topic in Gallery
The terrain is based off real satellite imagery from the Czech Republic. Funny, just like the OP posted in his first post. -
Steam name gone, character gone

The experimental version is on a separate hive, I believe. -
My entire group just died... and there weren't even bandits or zombies.
AlfalphaCat replied to RangerFire's topic in General Discussion
So by your logic, you play DayZ to get 'beans' in the DayZ forums? Good luck with that.   -
How seriously do you take your gameplay?
AlfalphaCat replied to KnightFall1856's topic in General Discussion
Pretty much the same. Though it is always a gradual growth in seriousness. That is until the Mosin is almost as much a death sentence, as the Lee Enfield was. You don't need a weapon at all to deal with zombies. Just punch them to death. -
Whats the Burlap Sack For ? Here is the Answer !
AlfalphaCat replied to Ozar's topic in General Discussion
Wow, just wow. That is pretty racist. But I am guessing you are ignorant as to why. Still, unnecessary. The internet is still the 'real world'. -
That should be a feature.

You are cutting the survival aspect out of the game, entirely. Sure, one day, you might hop into a room that people are in, and get ganked, but the odds are most likely in your favor. If you want to just play with toys, get Arma 2 or 3. Quite easy to try everything out, without any danger to your character. There was a time when this game was considered 'hard' or 'unforgiving', but little boys that can't stand losing had to figure out every way possible to, 'game the game'. The game and the community are poorer for it. So is gaming in general. *shrug*

Stop cheating, and deal with it.

Just opened a can of bean soup w/knife in RL
AlfalphaCat replied to Wiggin Miller's topic in General Discussion
So many of these damned threads. There are literally a handful(in game) of different things you can open cans with. Some are better than others. Deal with it. Food is not even that hard to find, that a little waste is gonna have you starving to death. -
This is a weird topic. And yes, he doesn't wear shoes, but he seems like he know what he is talking about compared to some of the other yokels on TV. I actually think chubby little Ray Mears could out survive most people, just because he knows how to do so many things, with so little. His extra fat, probably wouldn't hurt either, in the short term. @Karmaterror, holy f-ing jesus balls, do they not teach English in the UK anymore?

M4 in your hands and Mosin on your back, or visa versa?
AlfalphaCat replied to medium00rare's topic in General Discussion
Right, and that is a pack that he probably takes the time and effort to pack in a balanced manner. Can you get a long rifle in there, or you gonna just let it flop around on your back. You could strap it onto a pack, but that would make it inconvenient to use. The word cumbersome was created for a reason. Feasibility is not all about the weight of items. -
Can we get some measures to combat the myriad of pointless/redundant threads on these forums. Perhaps not let folks with less than 50 posts, not be able to create new threads in certain subsections. Since the bug-tracker is on separate accounts that wouldn't be a problem. Let them start as many threads as they want in Recruitment and the New Player sections. Seriously, it seems most of the new people in here have never used a forum. They treat it like some chat room. Can't for the life of them use the search function. Most of it is just drivel from fappwits that don't know what an alpha entails. There are probably a thousand threads that could just be outright deleted for there lack of activity and usefulness alone. I suppose this is a little on the ranty/ragey side of things, but there are plenty of measures that could be made to streamline the forums. Perhaps even educate those not familiar with the use of internet forums, on more proper ways of communicating there issues and topics of choice. Just a thought... Later, Alfa...

M4 in your hands and Mosin on your back, or visa versa?
AlfalphaCat replied to medium00rare's topic in General Discussion
I would say it's not worth carrying two rifles at all. Better off with the Mosin and a handgun. I am pretty sure I wouldn't have died earlier, if I wasn't carrying both. Some dude/dudes with really bad aim got the drop on me, and if I could have run at full speed, I probably would have made it to cover before they finally finished the job. You can't really just drop the gun real quick either, climb ladders, or do much of anything, quickly. -
Says the guy with one post. Cute. I for one would think a conversation between Rocket and a survival expert would be much more interesting. Say Ray Mears, or that Cody Lundin guy. Anyone says Bear Grylls, gets a fire ax to the face. :)

How do you figure?
-
Right? He's too nice. Sorry guys(mods), if this came across as judgment on you. Nor do I mean to demand any of the examples I gave. You guys do a very good job of not letting people get away with murder. I just thought some things could be done to clean up the clutter(ha much better word, for what I was getting at). With the influx of new players, and new forum users I just see it getting worse in the future.

Please give me links to the numerous threads addressing the cluster**** that are these forums. Then run yer mouth. Thanks, bye. Take your own advice sometime.
-
Not saying they need to be restricted from posting and viewing in all sections, just whether or not they can start a new thread.
-
Good point that I also forgot to mention in my post. DON'T POST IF YOU THINK THE THREAD IS NOT WORTH A RESPONSE. Let it die.
-
Wouldn't it be better if they spammed already existing threads, than spamming with whole new threads? That was just an idea that I know has it's flaws. Not gonna argue, as you probably know better about these things, it being your 'job' and all. You also have a better understanding of the capabilities of this forum software. Just thought that doing anything is better than doing nothing. I always see the report button as something to be used in more extreme circumstances than just redundancy/pointlessness.

Why is the dev team trying to make the game able to support 150 players per server? It seems asinine to me, that during a catastrophic event such as the setting implies, that this many uninfected people would still remain in such a small area of the world. If you just do simple math, the population density of 'living' people would still be 1.5 per square kilometer. That is pretty dense, even in non-disaster areas. If you played the mod, you know that even a 50 player server can feel populated as all hell. Why on earth would anyone want to play with 150 people running around on the same 225km2 map? It seems ludicrous to me, and I am really missing the threat of zombies. If anything they give you something to do. Work on that and loot, not some pie in the sky server pop goal. Love ya, bye, Alfa...

Did that really just happen? Am I now a inadvertent super Bandit?
AlfalphaCat replied to TLaw's topic in New Player Discussion
Nice, best line right at the end. :) That factory is haunted, by the way... -
Why is the goal; servers able to support 150 players?
AlfalphaCat replied to AlfalphaCat's topic in Suggestions
Yeah, in no way is 40 enough. It is just too limiting of the possible situations that would be fun to experience every now and then. -
Not true. Nighttime with a clear sky and a full moon is a really fun time to play. I miss the servers being set to their actual local time. Was a neat feature. It is an exploit BTW, and it makes the game look like shit. What I really miss are road flares.
