I think we three should start a May 2012 club/unit/clan. That is when the outbreak started. I can't wait 'til zombies are an actual threat. These folks will just bitch about that.

Are you telling me that you have to have patience to be a sniper? That's cray cray! :P

Yeah, I am still not seeing what all the fuss is about. As long as I haven't just run a marathon, the sway is really not that hard to combat. Meh, QQ will always happen about anything.

Is your fire indoors? That may be the problem as fires indoors are not producing heat.

The War on Wilderness - Reclaiming Myshkino
AlfalphaCat replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
Honestly, once persistence and tents are working, the camps that players set up will become the POI in the forests and clearings. You would be surprised too, how many times people put their camps in the same spots that others think are great hiding spots. I like the idea of getting rid of some towns from A2, the whole middle of the map could be made more like wilderness if just a few of the small villages were removed. -
I think you are holding your breath too long. Almost the whole time you are not letting your char breathe, except for very short breaths. Or else you bound hold breath to another key, and it is just not working. Most of the movement also seemed to be you moving around alot, then the sway kicks in again because you are holding your breath the whole time.

Ahh, sorry, didn't know that. Just got back into the game, and I am still exploring.

Axe and raincoat are too OP to start with. Couple matches, or some other fairly useless stuff, without gear to make them useful, would be cool. I would just like to see random starting gear. Nothing inherently useful, just stuff that you may hold onto for the future. Flashlight and battery are still pretty useless. We don't need better starting gear in a survival game. It is still pretty easy to stay alive, even with the new features.

I think shoes are a big factor as well. I ran around with hoodie and beanie, and stayed warm enough as long as I kept dry.

I think drinking from wells makes it too easy.

I have never had any problems with stairs, ever. I think it is lag, or desync related.

Meh, the Hoe works pretty well, has good reach. Make sure you use official servers, i was getting the please wait crap, then checked and it was probably a poor quality server. The ones that say Dayz FL-2 or wherever they are based and hosted by gameservers.com. The Vilayer ones might be good too. Good luck...

It also would help, once vehicles are introduced, to slow down the running speed of our toons. It makes the wilderness seem so small. good luck with your crusade to save the wild places. :) -
Is a Down Jacket better than a Rain Coat?
AlfalphaCat replied to lys (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Wool jackets are working well for me. Looks funny with a chest holster and all the other gear, but is warm, has 4 slots and seems that as long as indoors, even wet, you will get warmed up. -
Being the nice guy is often the hardest job in dayZ.

Don't fret. Most of them get theirs sooner or later. Help a bambi with some zeds, me being just a little less a bambi. He proceeds to try and hack me up with his sickle, I just her an ugh behind me, "Did you just try and kill me, then break your leg", I said. Yeah, uhh, duh, or whatever he said. "You soo stupid." Was funny, thanks for that. ;) -
So if we were still opted into Experimental we got forced to stable? I'm cool with it just wondering. Spawned on the beach and in the first house I found a Mosin right of the bat, lol. Promptly died to zeds as the other player that I ran them into only had a bat and we couldn't take 'em both down. Spawned without a shirt as well, so no rags. :( i love you dayz, you so crazy :P

Try disabling shadows, they don't quite work now anyways.

So anybody know what the new update is from today. 450 some odd MB and no announcements or news hear. Do I really need to use twitter or reddit to find something out about this, or are they just slow on the forums with news on these things? -
sawn off .22 sporter poll ...should we be able to
AlfalphaCat replied to slippery gypsy's topic in General Discussion
I said no. What you really want, OP, is the Ruger .22LR pistol. Those are actually fairly accurate. I knew an old dude that shot a deer in the eye from about 50 yards out. That Chager thing up there looks soo fucking stupid and a waste of money. Why the fuck would you need a bipod on a pistol of such low caliber? -
I think what you just stated, is exactly what he meant by consequences. Not some artificial system that tracks who you kill. I also think that a large variety of weapons could help the loot spawning system to keep ammo rare. That is when loot spawns are working properly. Yeah, you might find ammo all over the place, but it is rarely the type you need. You may find guns of all different kinds, but you were collecting the wrong ammo earlier in your search. Shit like that, y'know.

Nice gamma 'sploit. I think they should code the game to take high gamma settings and then translate them to your character model. So that you glow in the dark when you pump up the brightness and gamma too much.
