I personally consider the M4A1 Holo to be the most versatile weapon in the game. Full auto, nice sight, M203. Can't beat that. M9 SD is best for zombie killing but the PDW comes at a very close second due to it's bigger clip size and easier to obtain ammo. M24 is my favorite sniper just because I like the way it looks and feels. It's just really fun to use.
-
They are interchangeable in the game though.. If you have a PDW, it uses M9, M9 SD, G17, PDW, MP5 and MP5 SD mags. Pretty useful. I'm not 100% sure but I imagine the MP5 functions the same way, able to use all of those as well.
-
As far as I know there's absolutely no reason to take the M9 over the G17. G17 clips have more ammo, and the G17 can use both G17 and M9 ammo clips. Keep the G17, take the M9 clip. Headshot zombies all day and not have to worry about ammo. Also, don't listen to that guy about the M1911. It was a great gun before the nerf, but now pistols are only good for zombie killing. If they're only good for zombie killing, you're best taking the quietest pistols with the highest ammo counts. IMO the best pistols are as follows: M9 SD > PDW > G17 > M9 > Everything else.

The stupidest spawn in all of DayZ
Sephka (DayZ) replied to Inception.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Kamenka is an amazing spawn and highly underrated. Lots of deer stands, a supermarket that is more than likely untouched, quite a few barns. Best way to gear up decently without the worry that someone will shoot you in the face like in Balota/Cherno/Elektro. The worst spawn in the game is Krutoy Cap. Solnichniy would be better as you could just run straight to Berezino, Kamyshovo would be better as you could run straight to Elektro if you wanted to. There is very, VERY little around Krutoy Cap, you have to run a fair ways before you get even low value loot spawns, let alone anything good. -
Please wipe all servers of items, tents and vehicles
Sephka (DayZ) replied to harken (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There's no point until duping is fixed. Duping can't be fixed in the mod, only in standalone. Not to mention all the hackers who can just spawn items in non-stop for all their friends. Same with vehicles. It sucks, it really does, but there's really not a lot that can be done about it. -
40m for text, 80m for voice, although it sounds pretty faint from max range.

Check your PM's.

You're not trying to be friendly very well. It doesn't fucking matter how bad you want it, some people just do not want to be your friend. If they continue to shoot after you call friendly and make no threatening moves towards them whatsoever, and they keep shooting, it's pretty fucking obvious they're going to kill you. Like, I'm all for trying to be friendly to strangers. It's all I do when I play solo. I'm just not so naive as to think that EVERYONE wants to be my friend. You just need to know when an agreement can be met and when you need to let out some good ol' winchester justice. If you actually want to be friendly, start being smarter about how you do it. Otherwise don't act surprised when people kill you for doing stupid shit.

US 366 Chicago was kicked for #97. Pretty much the whole server. Wonder what this is all about.

I've only ever found radios off of bodies. Never spawned. Usually off of questionable characters. I'm actually holding onto one at this very moment. I dunno if it's spawned in by hackers or not, but right now it doesn't do anything.

I kind of understand abusive admins...certain ones at least
Sephka (DayZ) replied to Slyguy65's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's no excuse. There are strict rules for server admins that aren't hard to follow. Kicking people, banning people, resetting the server all for the sake of your camp is complete abuse of the system. I have the right to blow up your camp if I want to. I have the right to take all your shit if I find it. What makes you think it's okay for admins to take all the work I put into finding their camp and moving everything into a getaway vehicle? Why is it that because they're server admins they're suddenly not allowed to have their stuff stolen like everyone else in DayZ? It's not okay. It never will be. Abusive admins should lose their rights to host DayZ. Plain and simple. -
Play what you paid for
Sephka (DayZ) replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The problem with this thinking is that combat in ArmA II is not nearly as intense as it is in DayZ. When persistent characters and permanent death aren't a part of the equation, it becomes very similar to other shooters we've played, if only more drawn out and on a larger scale. When your group suddenly starts getting shot at, things get really fucking intense really fast. You start worrying about losing your 24 day survivor and all the experiences he's been through. You actually CARE whether you live or die. Playing ArmA II would most likely not give this same feeling. You were saying in another thread how you didn't like people telling you how to play the game, "You need kills to have fun bawwwww" well it goes both ways. Some people just enjoy it that way. Let them play the game their way, that's the whole point of a sandbox. -
DayZ Chronicles- DAY 0 "The Hunt" OUT NOW!!!

Your trailer had me interested in your series, thought it might be worth checking out. Then there was all the alt+F4 bullshit. Would have been a decent video otherwise. -
ENDGAME: what keeps you entertained?
Sephka (DayZ) replied to Jay Shack's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You will find plenty of people up north on mid pop servers. If you're really itching for a fight at NWAF, join low pop servers of around 10-12. I know it's not always the case, but I find that on 50 man servers, if I run into anyone at NWAF, it's only one or two people. If I join low pop servers though, more often than not half the server is at NWAF. Personally, I want to one day ride an ATV off Pike Kovlova. That's just one personal little end game idea for me. You could start looking to infiltrate and engage other clans/groups, get some rivalries going. You could make it your mission to protect the noobs of the coast, handing out low-mid level gear while killing all those pesky little bandit snipers off the hills and buildings of Cherno and Elektro. Get creative. It's true there's not anywhere near as much endgame content as their could be, but we won't see most of it until stand alone. That being said, there's plenty of things you can do with all that fancy gear and all those vehicles you have. The key is to use your imagination and, most importantly, not just horde it. -
gun automatic fire after come back from looking the map online
Sephka (DayZ) replied to dogtree's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If this happens to you all you have to do is left click to get rid of it. Funny story. I had a friend who had alt tabbed out or ctrl alt del, whatever. He comes back in and fires off few shots from his machine gun and starts running. I ask him why he fired, said he alt tabbed. He keeps running trying to find his precious, precious motorbike. He finally spots it in it's hiding spot and runs up to it. As soon as he stops running he unloads like 50 bullets into it. Funniest thing I've ever seen in DayZ. -
is the m4a1 camo sd worth the risk?
Sephka (DayZ) replied to drunkenteddybear's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Personally I don't like the M4 SD. It's a nice gun and it has it's purposes, but it's short range and low damage aren't enough to make me take it over an M4 Holo or something of that nature. It really depends on your playstyle and what you're going to use it for. It's a shit PvP weapon damage and range wise, but it's great for getting in and out of towns without attracting attention. That being said, a bizon fills that role better. Although the M4 is better if you end up in a surprise close range engagement with it out. It boils down to personal preference really. -

I've added a tl;dr at the bottom, just for you lazy ones. I know I tend to ramble sometimes, so I figured it might be necessary. For various reasons I would rather not discuss here, my current group isn't working out too well. So now I'm looking to either find a group with a similar playstyle and similar ideals to my own, or to start one up myself with some like minded individuals. Before I go any further though, I feel I should mention that I'm looking to play legit. I hate the fact that I have to mention this but it's become obvious that it's necessary to (hopefully) ensure that I play with a decent group. This means that if you relog for ammo constantly, dupe purposefully, abuse indestructible tents filled with unlimited supplies, combat log etc. etc. then I probably do not want to play with you. Now that that's out of the way... I'm a close quarters guy myself. I prefer to be right up in the front lines where all the action is. While this doesn't mean I'm opposed to serving a sniper or spotters role, which I am quite proficient at, it's just not my preferred role. If those roles are filled, I'd be much happier in the front lines with an assault rifle or an LMG. I prefer to only carry one primary weapon when I can get away with it so I have room for supplies to keep the group going, but am more than willing to sacrifice room when it becomes necessary to fill multiple roles or hold onto someones weapon, or if I just have two weapons that I really really want to keep, which is pretty rare. I prefer to play somewhat of a medic role, blood bagging, bandaging, applying epi's and all that good stuff whenever possible. I find it enjoyable and quite honestly, I just have fun raising my humanity and getting rid of that pesky little heartbeat. I'm not opposed to acts of banditry or the KoS mentality for the group, but for me personally I prefer to at least gauge a persons intentions before gunning them down. Unless they pose an immediate threat or we're in a PvP hot spot like Stary or NWAF, I see little reason to cut down every Mr. Winchester we run across who clearly poses no threat. That being said, I love a good firefight and will never shy away from a good fight, even if it gets me killed. I just love the adrenaline rush you get from a firefight. Basically, I have my own way of playing but I'll play whatever way the group decides, so long as it's not mindless server hopping for kills in cherno/elektro etc. I don't like hoarding tons of vehicles or equipment either. While I have absolutely no problem setting up a sizeable camp, or even several on several different servers to keep ourselves geared up should things go wrong, I hate letting vehicles and equipment go to waste. There's no point in having an AS50 or an L85 if it's just going to sit in a tent all day. Same with vehicles, what's the point of that UAZ if we never use it, if we just let it sit in the forest and rot? My play times are very flexible and can be adjusted to meet the needs of the group. If everyone is on in the afternoon I can do that, morning, midnight, whatever. I can change it up to fit any time. I suppose I've rambled on enough, so I'll end this here. I'll add more if I think of anything else. If you have any questions for me, let me know. So, to recap, or for you lazy ones... tl;dr I play legit and expect the same of whatever group I'm in, whether it's my own or someone else's. I prefer to be on the front lines, but am proficient as a sniper and/or spotter. I like to play a medic role when possible. I prefer to carry a single primary as to make room for group supplies but this is always subject to change depending on circumstances. I love firefights, I have no problems KoSing, but I would like some judgement to be exercised when possible, but I'm not too picky on this one, so long as we're having fun. I don't like to hoard, why have something if you never use it. My play time can be adjusted to meet whatever needs, I have a very flexible schedule. I only want to play with experienced players. I'm fine with teaching people how to play and all, but if you have no will to learn, are needlessly reckless, etc. then I do not want to play with you. If you're interesting in either adding me as a member of a currently existing group, or you just share some of my ideals and want to start one up with me, feel free to respond here as well as add me on Steam. Steam ID: Sephka EDIT: I also feel I should mention that while I'm looking for a group, I'm most likely not going to join a clan. Depending on how it operates and the number of people I may make an exception, but I'd prefer to play with the same people consistently. Most clans I feel do not offer this, so unless you can promise me otherwise, I likely will not join. -

I apologize for this bump, but I'd like to see who else I can get, different time of day and all. -
Oh I'm well aware of the M4A1 CCO SD. I just don't like it. Sight it nice, sure, and silenced is always a plus, but I don't like the drop in range or damage. It's just not worth it to me. However, attaching a nice little M203 to make up for that lack of range and damage...well, I'm more willing to accept that. Honestly, if the Holo SD was a legit weapon, I would probably still carry an unsilenced one around with me as well, for those longer range engagements, assuming I have someone else with a sniper to deal with all that business.
-
I found a camp full of those beautiful, beautiful guns. Holo SD's up the ass. I wanted to use it so badly, but alas, I know it's a hacker weapon and cannot bring myself to do it. I hope a Holo SD is added to standalone, I love the holo enough already, making it silenced is just...so perfect. I can understand why it wouldn't be added though. But yeah. Hacked weapon. Too bad. But hey, you can't get banned for using it, so that's up to you. Long as you aren't spawning things in you're okay. I'd advise against it personally though, admins might check logs and ban ya and whatnot, not to say anything of the fact that you're using a hacked weapon which itself is just pretty freakin' lame.

I could be wrong but I'm fairly positive that he was aiming at one of his friends behind him, with a more threatening weapon. He probably didn't expect his entire team to get iced by one guy with a makarov, so he didn't see him as much of a threat.

Forgive me if I missed it on your website, but I can't seem to find very much information on your clan. Do you guys usually stay up north? Snipe noobs on the coast all day? Build sizeable camps or just say fuck it? Also, I've made a small edit to my original post about clans, that I probably won't join one unless I'm assured to be playing with the same people at least semi-consistently. I don't like getting to know someone and their playstyle only for groups to be switched around constantly. -

Sephka (DayZ) replied to Slyguy65's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I can't say for sure this was your problem, or if this is even true, but it explains several things that happened to me earlier today. Depending on when you did this and what server you played on, this may have been the problem. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/64413-a-public-service-announcement/ -
Can anyone explain how aiming works in this game?
Sephka (DayZ) replied to sostronk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If what you're saying is true, that you were literally right on top of him and managed to miss 250 rounds, the only thing I think it could possibly be is some really weird, fucked up case of lag/desync. That, or he was a hacker, but you seem certain that he wasn't. Did you see blood come out when you hit him? I've shot hackers before, you usually still see the blood squirt out from the wound but they take no damage.
