I've logged in out and in a few times to test and it seems to be persisting. Oh well if/when it vanishes I'll just grab an AK or something and sob onwards :-) -
Just a quick post to mention that the thermal beast is spawning , thought folk may want to know since there were a lot of folks concerned it was gone. I'll enjoy this one I just found at a crash site (first time I've seen one that wasnt looted already), at least until my next random death from crawling too near a tree or turning in a doorway. Having just found GPS and a bunch of other fun stuff yesterday the guy that kills me is gonna dance a jig!

I think i understand the "real" issue. 2/3rds of the folk posting are annoyed because they spent ages camping on a cherno rooftop to take out weaponless noobs and don't get the glory kills. They hate the idea of not being able to log out when in towns etc because they'd have to leave their precious sniper spots and risk danger themselves to get back out of town. All makes sense now. Understood... I'll leave you all to discuss this then :-) I'll just poke my head in from time to time in case there are any reasoned arguments like the one Tigerhawk made, instead of the usual 2 line posts with no rebuttal or counter propositions.

2 cents from me: I would love to see: 1. A 10sec logout timer. 2. Prevention of logout with any Z's within 100m or while inside designated "danger areas" such as towns or airfields. 3. Logging out at these points (e.g Alt F4) would cause you to lose all progress since the last login. 4. Trying to log out would give you a warning message about loss of progress, but still allow it if that's what you want. 5. Most important - you cannot log out if bleeding, doing so will kill the character outright (a warning message would tell you this). Yes, there will be crashes during firefights that get you killed, or a net connection failure. But since I've never once had this happen while bleeding (neither have my mates) I assume its rare enough to be an accepted flaw. Why dc anyway? Accept it like a man I say! Some of the best fun I've had in this mod involves being attacked and trying to SURVIVE... you know, the whole bloody point! little example if you can be bothered to read it: Just after my first ever trip to NWAF, I left the airfield alive, but with only an AKM to show for it (didn't know about the barracks at that point) and headed south. Ran across an open field to the west of a small town and stopped when I seen movement. The 2 guys had seen me as well and when I zoomed in I could see what looked like a slung rifle being taken off the first guys shoulder. Next 5 mins were me zig zagging my way across the field with sniper shots pinging and cracking past me, even taking out a poor innocent cow right in front of me with one miss! Once I made it over a rise I waited to see if they'd follow, looked over to see 1 running and the other aiming, ducked down and it sounded like he just missed again. I had to run all the way to another town to hide amongst the zeds! Waited for them, showed myself and waited for the sniper shot to draw a ton of aggro... then I got to lay in to them with the Ak as they fought off the infected. Why miss out on that kind of fun! Oh and if you're the guy that hit the cow, you may be glad to know I never got the chance to loot your gear, too much attention from other players!

Great to see everyone making good suggestions instead of the usual flame wars! Of all the ones I've read so far, probably the most viable is to stop people logging out either in "danger areas" or within x distance of a zed. I guess it would work like fast travel in oblivion where it says "it's not safe to do that here" or something. You could even take it further by having "it's not safe to do that here, if you continue to abort you will lose all progress since your last disconnection"... something like that. While we're at it why not stop you from disconnecting while bleeding as well. This would stop you disconnecting in any of the "premium loot" areas to farm via server skipping, it would stop you disconnecting to avoid zed aggro, and it would make disconnecting during a firefight pretty costly if you've already been hit! Keep adding good ideas, or giving constructive critisism if you disagree with one. It's feedback and discussion like this that Rocket hopes to find when he reads these forums etc 6hrs a day! -

Ok, first things first, yes I KNOW ITS AN ALPHA. Just thought I'd clear that up before flame wars begin. I've only been playing since 1.7.1 when someone told me about the mod and I dusted of ARMA2&OA, so far love the concept but there are a few things that I just can't stand. The most pressing is the ability for us to spawn anywhere. Why I hate it: 1. Folk use the mechanic to spawn in well known premium loot spots, grab the loot and leave the server to do it again elsewhere... mildly annoying 2. Folk use it to leave servers, flank round in another server, rejoin original and kill. Mildly annoying, congrats on the effort of any who do this! 3. Most important will be illustrated with an example - Myself and a mate spend AGES scouting a town with binoculars, sneaking in with a crossbow to silently take out any zeds we have to. We slowly loot the small town of Mogilevka without making a damned sound or alerting a single zed. Then as we head into a small shed like thing I ask my mate to watch the entrance while i check some loot and suddenly we both die instantly, without a sound. Why? because someone else spawned in behind me in the little shed and (presumably out of surprise at us being there) shoots... with his bloody rocket launcher! I was only able to piece it together because although I heard nothing my mate who was slightly further away heard the bang and I hauled @ss for 10mins back to the spot to find that the guy had in fact killed himself with the shot as well. This happens all the time, especially in places like the church or station in electro, or the control tower on balota... you know the places. Cant we force a no spawn area around each town so folk still "get there", but have to actually enter the towns each time they enter a server. TLDR: Spawning inside towns/cities is a broken mechanic, needs a fix
