There are other games like DayZ? Never heard of any; sounds interesting! DayZ will be released in about 2 years from now and I think it will have A LOT of changes and additional features at that time, + post-release development. I agree right now it is kind of repetitive and lacking compared to DayZMod, but the way the DevTeam has expressed their thoughts about the future of DayZ, I think they will actively try to eliminate the repetitiveness and introduce new game designs into the game we haven't seen before.

Some things are better left untouched. Never speak of this again.

Thoughts on dead corpses and Situations generated from putrification

1 or 2 crows circling overhead 5-30 minutes is also a great idea! -
Hopefully they've included different power output settings for people who don't want to transmit over 2 kms. Nice 30 km is great! Does anyone know if the signal is frequency or amplitude modulated? If it's FM we don't need to transmit shit in morse code all the time to get a quality signal.

Think of it like this: 1. This is Alpha 2. People cheat because they know it is Alpha, it is easier to cheat 3. BattlEye does a great job and updates to keep up 4. DayZ gets updated with more anti-cheat measures 5. People eventually get banned 6. Cheaters have to repurchase the game for over 20 $ 7. Game development quality and strength increases as more anti-cheat measures are put into effect 8. Developers realise a steady-income instrument is available to them at all times. Ban the hackers 9. Game quality increases from strengthed development in all aspects through increased profit 10. Game gets better -> more fun -> more popular -> more attractive to cheaters -> parasitic self-sustained development with the hackers being the losers -> No crappy Valve markets or DLC mayhems 11. Effective consequences: Always a few, steady-number hackers, better and more popular game, less impact of hackers on the average player

I never die lol. B) :beans:

At beta-state in a few years, the in-game overlay should be forcibly disabled in hardcore difficulty (also hardcore-hive tied). And yeah more advanced map features later on sounds good.

Intresting article on DayZ on Wired
vitdom replied to [Outcasts]Massacre's topic in General Discussion
I'm really not appreciating the journalist's apparent approach on DayZ (or the other games being discussed) as a behaviour transforming social game where anything can happen as analyzed from a mature viewpoint, focusing on immature jokes as practised by YouTube Whores. Guessing the headline "Why Online Games Turn Players Into Psychopaths" has been devised with honesty and professional intentions by Wired. Sigh... -
I was going to loot Kamenka docks, and found two new-spawned friends. I sneaked up until they were at firing range near the water without any escape route and fired at 1 of them immediately killing him with my AKM. The other one jumped into the sea and began swimming away. I got closer to get a better kill and the guy started yelling at me calling me sick and crazy. I waited a moment while teasing him by shooting a few rounds next to him and then killed him. Proceeding North-East, proud over my recent feat.

Handheld mux radio tranceivers already exist in-game and enable channel dependent side channels voice/text transmissions/receptions + signal deterioration effects, max ok quality range ~1 km. (I think it should be increased to 2 km) All you need is a battery for it.

Sounds like an excellent feature for base building. Both pre-engineered and dynamic player designed locations is something I'd like to see.

So I found a bug that I think I have seen before. I was wielding a Lee Enfield + 3 mags and I wanted to pick up a Hatchet onto my primary weapons slot. I did it but then my Lee Enfield and its magazines disappeared, not to be found on the ground or anything. This is really irritating... :P Really great patch though!

There are three types (the one you have is #3): Yellow chain: Desynchronization. (lag) Red chain: Extreme desynchronization. You might get issues if you do things other than moving around Broken red chain: No connectivity. No data exchange, i.e. nothing will be saved and server/your internet connection probably crashed There might be a broken yellow chain as well, but I don't know what that is. Anyone saying anything else is wrong. Always log out only after 30 seconds of undisturbed connectivity.

Hopefully the DayZ team will release an official automated anti-hacker server tools with the next update, fixing this very issue. I mean all they have to do is read a certain log file and issue a ban for the player on the local server and not save 1 min's progress.

I am amazed by the huge proportion of people who does not know how to command and operate a simple personal computer, or even follow simple "download, copy, backup and paste"-manual installation instructions. Is DayZ asking too much of the community?
-
This is already in. I don't know how many uses this feature though, as I haven't played DayZ for some time... I recon some of the professionally hosted and administrated servers use this by now; but no idea what servers those are... :|

Beta updates coming out like crazy?
vitdom replied to Noise (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The most recent patch release notes can be found in the BIstudio beta test forum, in it's respective topic. http://forums.bistud...A-PATCH-TESTING The most recent patches added: Server logging of vehicle spawns, animals, weapons and ammunition to counter hackers in DayZ Other server visibility and stability issues fixed We should see some new official automated anti-hacker DayZ server tools coming out shortly or with the planned next update. If Rocket is not actually stupid enough to handle a DayZ project... -
If you updated to 1.7.2.5, probably a bug or deliberate reset. Still running old version, try another server immediately.

So I bought some RAM yesterday...
vitdom replied to Evinyl Scratch's topic in Technology/Programming
Don't buy stuff if something seems weird, you'll just get yourself in trouble when you could have gone / bought something else. If you're unlucky like me, the worst thing that can happen, will happen. The only way to avoid it is to be sure before you buy stuff. -
No.

You can select which files to download when you're torrenting. Vuze has the functionality to check the integrity of all files & parts and refetch all the missing / corrupt parts. This enables you to paste the 1.7.2.4 files inside the target directory, check the integrity to skip download of already fetched / untouched files, and save bandwidth. Doing this in 1.7.2.4 --> 1.7.2.5 saved ~20%!

Thank you Rocket! :beans: You're the best. :) Also, what undocumented changes? B) I hope it is what I think it is!
