I think you are over thinking it, if it fits on a wall or a tent it's not too far of a stretch to assume it would fit on a car.

Agree on both points. You shouldn't be able to move and loot and dragging body's would be a really great feature. Even being as to drag dead infected into the woods or a house to hide your tracks.

You could easily solve this by having the string crafted by something other than rope that couldn't be crafted from guts.
