Rocket, Please don't. (Dayz on Console).
sfscriv replied to alcatraz968's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
PC-level quality products are gone for Battlefield, Call of Duty, Crysis, and others due to Console Casualization. The influence of the console platforms to ensure all platforms are equal must be powerful. Equal means significant degradation of the PC product. -

kotaku The Makers Of DayZ Want To Put It On Consoles 15 AUG 2012 Source: http://kotaku.com/59...-it-on-consoles Whipgeezbrut MordorHQ 15 AUG 2012 FunkyChunky1 MordorHQ 15 AUG 2012 DICE violated the trust of the PC platform fans with the multi-platform sales pitch which turned out to be a console port. DayZ going multi-platform is HORRIBLE news. DICE lied to their decade-long PC platform fans consistently for a year. The talons of big business and COD Console Casualization fever look to be striking again. -
1) Do your homework. Find out how to play the game. 2) Team-up with someone who has played the game. 3) Start a post similar to this one to ask folks how to play the game. ------------------------------------ - Spawn-in, don't move, look around, and then head inland. - If there is a zombie very close when you spawn in, drop the prone and crawl away. - If a zombie is chasing you, do some research to find out how to loose a zombie - Use a second monitor to view a the map with loot spawn sites highlighted - Identify your location and determine where you want to go next and which areas to avoid - Find a weapon, ammo, drink, food, etc... - Link-up with an in-game character that already has the basics to survive and who can share some of their hard earned items - Prepare yourself mentally to die. It is not the end of the world. Simply re-spawn and start anew. - Learn, develop your in-game skills, strengthen your in-game character, and enjoy one of the best mods/games available - If you are not having fun, you are not doing it right

Would you be mad if they were working on a separate game instead of a mod?

Bundled with ArmA III is another option > Bohemia Interactive benefits ... good publicity demonstration of good relations with mod community ... greater sales to general population ... wider audience ... military sales > DayZ Team benefits ... formal agreement with Bohemia ... a percentage of revenue ... design freedom ... payment for brand name products used in-game > Community benefits ... DayZ directly tied to Bohemia ... expands community ... potentially less expensive for the end-consumer (instead of buying two separate games) -

- The zombies are a lot more likely to detect humans using their vision. I have had many instances where I would not have been detected in the older version. - A buddy of mine could not shake a zombie on a steep hill or get the zombie to trip and fall on the down hill. - Ever since I have been playing this mod, I have had many instance of teleporting back in time and space. I played for several hours on 10 JUL 2012 using the 1.7.2 version, the server lost connection, and I started a different server and it was as if I had not played at all. Other instances before this last patch where I teleported back about a kilometer. Once it happened, it ended up happening several times. One instance was really bad, I would keep teleporting back to the center of a medium size town. After it happened three times, I decided to switch servers.
