I don't give a shit about the arguement going on. I do want to point out though that the arguement that people wouldn't just fuck each other over and be quick to kill if some sort of Shit Hit the Fan scenerio happened is about as wrong as wrong can be. I'll tell you what, you want to check out what its like to live in a lawless area where it is every man for themselves? There are some places in Africa, the Middle East, hell even some inner city neighborhoods you can check out, have fun with that. Trust me, people will turn on each other given the chance. Funny how violent crime rings and things of that nature seem to strive where there is little to no system of consequences or even order in place. Where survival and bettering your own position in life are the only rules, shit gets hairy.

That makes my dying yesterday even more frustrating, first gun I found was the CZ and it was my buddy all the way till I got my face eated.

Yes I never got to play before this change was made so maybe I just don't know any better but I like the challenge of having no gun, It added alot to my experience. I will say however that I do agree that having NO way to defend your self starting out is a little odd. It was said earlier but having everyone start with a 2x4 or something would ease alot of frustrations with the decision but not unbalance things much if at all.

The only issue I have with not starting with a weapon is the gap that it places between new players and everyone else. This is not to say that there should not be a gap but I know it can be frustrating for people to start a new character and be shot and killed within 5 min. Don't get me wrong, I'm good with the system thats in place right now. The idea behind the no weapon thing can have the opposite effect of what was intended. So removing a starting weapon to prevent rampent PKing does work, however now anyone with a gun in the starting areas just shoot on sight with little fear because a good deal of people in the area don't have any means to defend them selves. So on the other side of the coin, everyone starting armed can also act as a deterent. Just my 2 cents, I'm good either way.

I going to answer this under an assumption you are fairly new to ARMA in general. If not then don't take this as demeaning or insulting. Given that assumption, unlike other games, ARMA doesnt have drastic differences between weapons past what sets them apart in real life. So for example, differences in barrel length aside, two weapons that fire the same round are not going to have much, if any difference in the damage the bullet does. The big difference you will find with weapons of similar caliber, is in handling charactistics, like accuracy, recoil, etc and like the M4 in question, optics. So the difference between a M4 with a CCO and one with out is purely the optics. Personally I don't like the CCO type sights in video games because the reason they are great in real life is completely lost in a virtual setting with the exception of them maybe giving you a bit better field of view depending on what the sight/weapon is. I wouldn't get too attached to it anyway, since by the time you read this you'll probably already have been killed and lost it :P
