Run the Six LAUNCHER, not updater.

Your tears sustain the dev team. Are you guy's making sure you've updated all the necessary files? From what you've described here (being completely ignored by zeds, not being able to go 3rd person) sound alot like the issue people have been experiencing when they aren't using the beta patch, or at the very least, the most recent beta patch. Make sure you've updated that and got all the updated dayz files. More than likely you ARE in 3rd person mode, but you've invisible. People have been complaining of this, and sometimes you'll see it on the server. They are the only one able to access sidechat, and complain they are invis or can walk thru zeds like they are nothing. My advice: Make sure you're using the proper, up-to-date dayz mod files, beta patch included. A bit of reading on your part should lead you how to accomplish this, there are several "how-to"s on the forum. If you still can't get it working, I would suggest at least trying Six Launcher. Some people (myself included) don't really like it, but when I was having issues, it certainly helped me out.

Then I would check the volume settings in dayz. Also, as I've had this happen before to me, check your mic volume in the sound settings of windows and arma2. Other than that, I'm at a loss. Should be working just fine, it's clearly not a hardware issue.

But remember, 95% of the player base will shoot first, ask questions later. That last 5% you won't even see, because you just got sniped. Follow the above advice in this thread. It's mostly golden. But it also takes time, time and practice. You'll get the hang of it, just don't cow to the carebears. If they had their way, there would be no-pvp servers where you start with a gun and full ammo, a bag full of stuff, and have a whole lot of nothing to do all day but shoot at zeds, because that sounds soooooo much fun.

Did the beta patch not remove any effectiveness of turning up your gamma/brightness? Wasn't that what all that qq'ing was about? Turning those things up don't effect my night vision anymore.

Caps was the default key for PTT. It worked that way for me, but since I hated having to toggle off caps when I was going to type somehting I switched it. Regardless of they key you press, if it says "Direct Channel" and or shows that little Mic icon, you're transmitting.

Sounds like you're going to need to confirm or deny if they can hear you first before we get too much deeper into this. (Any friends playing this game can help you) Having said that, are we to assume your mic is working fine for other applications/games? (TS, etc) I don't think there's a mic volume control inside arma options.

Calling out "friendly" is, sadly, a gamble. Even if you are being honest, truthfully, you have NO way of knowing if they aswell. Sometimes you've gotta shoot first, and ask questions later. It's just how things are going in DayZ atm.

Sounds somewhat suspect. But, if it's true. Then those are the worst snipers in DayZ history. Not watching their flank? Not providing cover for eachother? My guess is (if this is legit) is they prolly spawned that shit for themselves, or had their "friend" do it for them/ server hopped low pop servers till they found what they wanted and then decided this game was CoD and went to spawn camp unarmed nubs. These guys are pro. The best kinda pro around.

Decent story. However, other people's opinions on this matter shouldn't well... matter xD... This was your first kill/first kill as a "bandit". Cherish this moment. It will stay with you for all of your DayZ days. I remember my first kill well... I'll never forget it, almost like popping your bandit cherry ;) Also, in regards to your warning, it has nothing to do with bleeding per say. It is if you log out while SHOCKED (the 2 little white plug looking things.. I'm horrible at explaining how it looks). That will result in you being knocked out for roughly 5 minutes. If you also happen to be bleeding when this happens, there's a decent chance you'll bleed out unless you can get a friend to come save you.
