easiest and safest way to download??
Confus replied to banditoralf's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Don't worry, Sixupdater is completely safe and also very convenient. But if you don't want to use Sixupdater, here's a link that can help (make sure you follow the instructions that fit the Arma 2 that you have: either on Steam or retail): http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/1808-guide-installation-guide-steam-retail-mixed-beta-common-errors/ -
easiest and safest way to download??
Confus replied to banditoralf's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The most convenient and update-friendly way is to use Sixupdater. Here's a series of screenshots I made in conjunction to this written guide: http://imgur.com/a/OnDiU 0. Download and install sixupdater from http://www.six-updater.net/ 1. Launch Sixupdater. The window should look like the screenshot when it's fully loaded 2. Click on the "Mods" tab 3. Type "@dayz" in the text box to search for the mod. Right click on @dayz and select "Use mod in dynamic preset" 4. On the top of the Sixupdater window, check the "Beta" checkbox 5. In the left bar, your "Dynamic" preset should look bolded like this and with the same mods under it, but with blue icons instead of my green ones 6. In the top left corner, click the arrow under the green icon and select "Install and update mods" 7. Wait for it to finish downloading and installing the mods, then click on the arrow under the same green icon as in step 6, and select "Launch game" -
We need things added that relate to roleplay, not killing.
Confus replied to brightlitefilms's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I never knew that weapon modifications were not "killing" gameplay mechanics. Those explosive rounds must not be very lethal. And weapon mods have no relation to roleplaying. -
DayZ Staff: Start doing something about hackers. Now.
Confus replied to Colten (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Obviously, anti-cheat devs like the Battleye devs never constantly update the Battleye client. They're so dumb and incompetent that some random guy on a forum can come up with the brilliant idea "stp hakers pls" and totally blow the minds of the DayZ dev team and the Battleye dev team. Now that this brilliant thread has been made, the Battleye devs will jump to their computers and bang out incredible code that will stop all hackers in the world, even ones who haven't been born yet. I congratulate the OP for being a shining beacon in the cesspool of Internet stupidity. -
Brainstorming new features - part 2 - Stamina, baggage load, containers and locks
Confus replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like all these ideas. I also feel that carrying capacity of backpacks should not be limited by an arbitrary number of slots, but rather a volume capacity like in ACE2. -
Brainstorming new features - part 1 - Character Evolution
Confus replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think having the skill system would allow some grinding unless there is some restriction. There should be a very gradual progression for all skills, training by doing stuff like shooting cans wtih a pistol should have a cap to the amount of XP you can get from that kind of training, and proficiency should not be expressed as a number, but rather as a vague desceription like "incompetent" or "masterful." -
Wow, Battle eye or whatever needs to be improved.
Confus replied to DarkFireTorch's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The devs are waiting in the wings, just looking out for an incredible, high quality, insightful OP like this one to jump out of hiding and update the shit out of Battleye. Just like all other anti-cheat devs. -
Shooting a flare up illuminates a huge area. Throwable flares and launched flares are different and aren't interchangeable, so if a flare gun is added it should use its own ammo, and maybe M203 flares, but that would be a stretch.

Church Bells should attract hoards of zombies.
Confus replied to zorisx's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Where would the hordes come from? Spawning them in the town would screw over people who were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Also, a sudden horde could have an impact on server performance, which needs to be considered. -
What a very arrogant and idiotic post. Arma 2 was never made for something like Day Z so naturally there are going to be a few problems. If you took all the buildings off Day Z that weren't enter-able there'd be barely anything left. Think before you post. Even for vanilla Arma2, making every building enterable would create interesting potential situations for urban combat. However, it's also not surprising that Bohemia didn't have the resources to initially make every building enterable. Now that Arma2 is almost three years old though, it's possible that there is some room for improvement as well as people who have the resources to make such an improvement. Even making all currently non-enterable houses have one small hole that can accommodate a loot spawn would have a large impact on loot distribution.

I like the 3d models, and the water purification and fishing ideas. More weapons never really has any drawbacks, but they shouldn't be too much of a priority.
-
Unfortunately, making interiors for every building in Chernarus would take a ton more effort than it did for Takistan, so I understand if Bohemia won't make every Chernarus building enterable. However, if some system were added to let players loot any building, it wouldn't really matter that some buildings couldn't be entered; the outcome would be the same, you get loot.

The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell
Confus replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Currently, part of the problem is that stealth is by far the best way to dodge zombies, but grouping up offers no benefit to staying safe from zombies unless you want to shoot everything. For the smart/efficient player, grouping up has no benefits while the player is trying to gather resources, only downsides. Therefore, there is no point in grouping to loot unless you feel like blasting your way through a city. Making zombies more deadly and making weapons rarer would make it even worse. Reducing loot spawns for consumables like food has negative consequences as well: most of the map will be neglected because it would be too difficult to find supplies. Small towns like Pavlovo wouldn't be worth visiting because it would essentially be a waste of time. Only big cities like Cherno and towns with abnormally large numbers of enterable buildings like Mogilevka would be worth looting, which would condense players into certain coastal cities. Add this to the fact that sneaking past zombies is a solo job, and you will find that everybody will be in the same few cities but no one will want to approach each other because they don't want to be screwed over by the others. I do like mechanics that encourage teamwork, though, such as sharing food. But making zombies harder without revamping their detection system wouldn't solve anything.
