DayZ Livonia Server Switch and Server Shutdown
psylnz replied to Greensek's topic in News & Announcements
I dont have Livonia, and have no intention of buying it for awhile. When I browse servers now, there is not a single server, official or community, that i can log onto, as they are all either livonia or livonia dlc. Is this how the game is going to be now? You have to buy the DLC you don’t want to play the game you've already paid for, or will Dayz non Livonia map and non Livonia DLC servers be up and running again, and if so, when? -
Standalone Modding Forum Category - it's never to early to start talking about it

I'd like to know if they are using already available modding tools that were used in other Bohemia games, like Visitor, Oxygen, Bulldozer, or Terrain Builder. Content takes a long time to create, and If the community could know which tools they are using, we could get to work making new maps, or models, and have them ready for when Day Z is a full release. -
If I understand this correctly, and that Central Economy, means the hive will decide and limit loot spread across the servers, than this is a huge mistake on multiple levels. First, hackers and those that play 8+ hours a day will snap up all the good gear and no one else will ever see it again. Those of us in North America can expect to go die with a shitty ping on a Russian server where all the good gear is. Second, this will overload traffic on the hive, as people keep server hopping shitty loot less servers. Third, given the lack of zombies and that they mostly just stand there waiting to be shot in a ZOMBIE game, given all the glitches, the crappy melee, that almost a year in persistence is just starting to enter the game, that tents have just made it in, that vehicles are still not in, I could rant on for a couple of pages, but I'll stop here. Given all that, central economy (which shouldn't be implemented anyway) shouldn't even be thought about right now. There's way too much priority stuff that needs to be fixed, sorted or implemented.

Can anybody confirm weather or not the 1911 does 4500 blood damage now? And is this a DayZ thing or an Arma2 thing?
-
Is there an accurate current table of weapons damage? Cause if the DayZ Wiki is correct, I think I'll forget about the PDW @ 899 blood and hang on to my 1911 @ 4500 blood.

I'd recommend you try one of the mods of the mod, at least until the next patch comes out. Most of the mods of the mod don't have infection, and most of them have a lower zombie aggro effect, meaning while you still have to be careful, you can crouch walk around, instead of spending hours crawling prone through towns. I believe the Devs have said that currently, rate of infection from zeds is bugged too high, and that rate of antibiotic drop is bugged too low, and that these will be fixed in the next patch. And you're far from alone in thinking that the current hotfix is over the top frustrating.

Maybe it was the server. I stole a car last week from a guy who shot me unarmed :) and managed to keep it for three days, on a server that restarts every three hours. Don't know if somebody found it, or it was my abscence on the server for nearly a week that I lost it. Out of curiousity, does anybody know why we have to save vehicles again, post 1.7.7? I had a private hive server just before 1.7.7 and I didn't have to save vehicles and they were still there, even after me not playing for one month with an automatic 12 hour restart.

If you have two computers and a router, I remember seeing a thread that explained how you could change a port setting so both people could play at the same time (still needed two CD keys, and two Steam accounts). Can't find that thread though :(
-
You can play a different character from the same PC on the same server, but you need to purchase another CD key. It's a bit cumbersome and confusing. Cumbersome because, at least the last time I did it, you had to log out of dayz, restart steam with your other account, fire up arma 2 and afterwards arrowhead with your other account, at least to the menu screens, change your name (this part is optional and why and where it gets confusing). Once you've run both games, close whatever one you still have up, then try DayZ Commander. You'll be logged on with your other character. You can't use your name as indication of anything, cause your name doesn't change unless you change it in Arma2/Arrowhead, regardless of what CD key you use (again that caused me heaps of confusion). Once you want to use your first character, then you have to repeat the process with your first Steam account and arma games in that steam account.

R4Z0R49, From the changelog; 1) [FIXED] - Infection divide by zero error. 2) [FIXED] - Infection will now be properly removed at tents after logout 3) [uPDATED] - Infection base chance. What do these mean to the layman? And once the next patch goes live, will we find Antibiotics in the Med Boxes? Medbox1 Contains. magazine = "ItemBandage"; count = 5; magazine = "ItemEpinephrine"; count = 2; magazine = "ItemMorphine"; count = 5; magazine = "ItemBloodbag"; count = 2; magazine = "ItemPainkiller"; count = 2; magazine = "ItemAntibiotic"; count = 3;

Why not wipe the public hive every update, tents and all? (I know tents are saved on servers, but wasn't there a full wipe last summer? or am I mistaken) Then we can evaluate changes from a level playing field.
-
Bullshit. Fuck you and anybody else who says I wasn't trying. Got infected entering Novy, and got blood beat to low. Tried to look around for food, antis, then made my way to Stary, creeping around prone looking for antis. Started passing out crawling through tents. Suprise, Blood went to empty. After a couple of bouts of fainting, suprise. Died. It was a maximum of 45 minutes. What were you on the same server at the same time counting goats and cows around Stary?

If it's too frustrating, the fun is lost. Would you want to be on a server where you spawn on the beach hungry, thirsty, infected, bleeding, with no bandaids, and antibiotics rarer than sniper rifles, with nearby zeds per-aggro'd and running at you? Most of us wouldn't, but that would be brutal. If putting on a pair of pants in the standalone is going to kill me in 45 minutes because I don't have antibiotics that take 6 hours to find if I'm lucky, than I'll pass on the standalone.

Applejuice pretty much nailed it. Although I think the infection is the big kick in the gonads. Last time i played vanilla dayz, i got infected in Novy Sobor, during a very mild Zed attack. I then went from nearly full to fairly low blood, but not empty. I bandaged up and got away. Tried eating, ate everything I had, but got no increase in blood. Had one little down arrow on my blood icon. Tried drinking fluids, no improvement. I made it as far as Stary Sobor, and started looking through the tents. I started passing out, and despite not bleeding, my blood icon was now empty. Less than 45 minutes from the time I got infected. I passed out a few more times, than just dropped dead. How am I supposed to survive an infection like that? Also, I've never been able to increase my blood while infected during this patch. I've read before that due to the fact that ArmA was designed as a military sim, that the ai for the zeds will always be somewhat bugged; ie that zeds hitting through walls, weird pathfinding, poor hit detection, etc. If that's true, than I don't think infection should be in the mod. I really think it adds nothing, except for frustration, under those circumstances. As of right now, every parameter of it (ability to find antibiotics, ability to survive with it, ease to contract it, number of zeds carrying it), are all heavily scaled against the player, coupled with the bugs. I'd suggest instead just making the zeds attack more damaging, but without infection.
-
I agree, infection as stands just makes the game too frustrating to enjoy, especially with all the other glitches you mentioned involved with zeds. I stopped playing regular Dayz, and moved to the mods which don't have infection like DayZ+, or DayZero - you should give them a try.

Started playing DayZ on a new laptop, a clevo P370EM. If i hit the caps lock key, the computer goes to desktop, same as if the windows key had been pressed. Doesn't happen in other arma2 games or mods, and didn't happen when playing DayZ on my desktop. Im running windows seven pro. I've reassigned the mic key, but caps lock is still very easy to hit at the worst possible moments. Any suggestions?
-
I ended up disabling it; I think it was a checkbox called hotkeys in MSCONFIG. Thanks
-
Yeah. I'm switching my server over to a mod of the mod, probably DayZ+. Infection is just too frustrating, especially with ammo now being rare, and melee combat so glitchy. Hope they side to ditch infection, or at least infection via Zed in the Standalone.
-
Yeah, there's a small pop-up in the top left corner? Any idea how to disable this? Still, strange it only happens in DayZ.
-
It's not that the game has gotten so hard that it's impossible; it's that it's gotten to a point where it's more frustrating than fun. I can safely slither into towns on my belly and wait motionless several minutes while the zeds in my area finally are all far apart enough that I can sneak across the street. But that's just boring, tedious, and frustrating, and by comparison, makes tetris look appealing. Infection only servers to amplify frustration. Take a couple of hits from a zed, and you've got a character gimping infection, that you'll either spend many hours looking for extremely rare antibiotics to cure, or, get yourself killed, and maybe spend about half an hour running back to your body. The choice get's pretty obvious there. It seems like both the Mod and the Standalone are hellbent on making the game difficult and that fun is completely expendable to this end. I think the game can still be quite challlenging, and that Zeds can be a threat, and that players can be required to be careful.......without making them slither around in the prone position for hours, or be forced to choose suicide or to set out on the quest for the mythical unicorn of antibiotics. My suggestion would be to allow players when crouched and not moving to be less visible to zombies, almost as invisible as when in the prone position. Also scrap infection altogether, and drastically increase zombie attack damage to compensate. That would lessen frustration, keep things difficult, and speed things up.

I have to somewhat agree with Dukstuf. I've been playing on my own private hive server, no modifications, and after spending about 12 hours scouring Cherno and Elektro, I've only found 2 antibiotics. In that time I was infected a couple of times, but was never able to find antibiotics in time to save myself. And that was in the two largest Cities, the biggest loot drops. If the choices are crawl for hours with a gimped character or die and run to your body, people are going to go for the latter out of furstration. I'd say either make the antibiotics a bit more common, or make the infection more rapidly fatal - like having to use antibiotics withing 5 minutes of showing an infection, or your dead. On a postivie note - I do like what R4Z0R49 describes in the original post - about having one hour to mitigate the chance of infection by using more commonly available items. And alot of the spawns seem better now - It took 12 hours to find a cammo'd M4, an M16a2, an ak74su, and a g17, and I had to make the decision to pass them up for a winchester and a makarov based on the amount of ammo I could find. Food is about right - it was too easy to find before. What's with hatchet's though? I still haven't found one.

Server Happened On : DayZ - US 3305 (v1.7.4.4/build 99515) [VETERAN|3DP:ON|CH:ON][GMT+7]dayzmod.com - hosted by iogaming.net mods:expansion/beta, @dayz. @hive Time: approximately 22:50 Atlantic Standard Time What Happened : Was on a public hive server. I was in a barn and was teleported to some army base looking location, kinda like the medical camp outside Baloota. Other players were there, and some kid on a mic said something about "thunderdome, and you have to fight it out, anyone who leaves dies. I tried to leave and i got killed. It wasn't the death screen, but a grey one that said "no quitting" This is not a first on this server - its been happening for months, according to these posts. I would guess those who post only make up a fraction of those who it happens too. Here are some others who posted about it in the forum: http://dayzmod.com/f.../page__hl__3305 http://dayzmod.com/f.../page__hl__3305 http://dayzmod.com/f.../page__hl__3305 http://dayzmod.com/f.../page__hl__3305 http://dayzmod.com/f.../page__hl__3305 EDIT: I had to use the task bar to minimize the game in order to write this. When I maximized it again, the "no quitting message" had changed to "< YO BITCH, SUCK ON MY BIG MONKY". These losers can't even spell.

Exactly what the topic title says. Tried disabling passwords, tried accessing control panle through URL, reset everything to default. Tried logging on to see if that would start it. No luck. Any suggestions?

Problem solved. Went on their IRC channel, and got help from one of thieir people on there. Apparently for some reason my server manager was locked up.
