I'm gunna jump out on a limb here and say... Bandits really aren't going to be your problem for this type of venture. As much as I would love to attack this I believe I would keep away. Script kiddies are going to be the major problem because as much chaos and confusion a bandit can sow through an event... Scripters can do much more. -
Bullets are easier to find than Antibiotics. Bullets are 100% effective all the time.

My first Axe Murder was one of legends... So this story starts out when I died... the heart was still racing from the battle earlier. Where I spawn outside of elektro and see an axe directly in front of me... From that moment on I say to myself "it's on" I ran into elektro like a crazed viking... but something was wrong in all the loot spots its like there was someone looting ahead of me. Needless to say I was getting angry. It's now getting dark and this isn't helping, until I hear gunshots in the distance. North of the station on the hill apparently there was a firefight. So I'm sneaking up the hill and out of nowhere I see at the top of the hill a campfire. I break neck sprint towards my prey... he's facing away from elektro (and me) trying to get onto the fire to cook... he finishes cooking to see me standing on top of him. Now this is back when you needed to slap a guy a couple times before he got the clue to die. He had enough time to bring up his m4 fire 3 shots till it clicked because he didn't reload after his first fight to him being passed out in the dirt. Just as I'm about to square the final blow I say in Direct com "Shhh... Only Dreams Now" This was my first and only hatchet kill... but Damn I don't think I'll have another like it. Cheers TL;DR I killed a guy in awesome fashion.

Ok I feel like I need to weigh in here... My BIGGEST pet peeve is another sniper who always keeps their sniper rifle out. Especially the 50's. (*I have followed someone for 1.5 hours just to ensure he could no longer carry that peice.) I generally don't care if you have to pull out your axe to take the place of a primary... but that stuff needs to be hidden. In life as in this game, a sniper is looked at as one of the highest personal threats to an enemy combatant. So "IF" they spot you and you only have a generic bloc weapon they will attack with much less care or prejudice. But if you have the tower of power in your hands, you become their entire world. As much as it may cut into carrying supplies, find a decent secondary just hide the big boy. M107 rounds have a decent spawn rate in deerstands so you really shouldnt ever be starved for ammo. You know how to survive thats great. The biggest thing I can think of when you do have the AS50 out... always look over that blindspot on your right... IF something comes, IT WILL come from that way. Think a man named murphy said something like that. And if finding friends to overwatch is out of the picture, stay more towards the west good deer stands good open fields decent loot towns if you ever want them and most of all rarely travelled by anyone other than clans and generally they'll give more reward for the risk. Just don't lose it. Cheers

Question: Sniper's second weapon?

Stopping power... required. Ammo/space conservation... required. High ability for target acquisition and accuracy... Definitely Required. Find a M249 SAW. 200 round belt takes 2 slots. Total of 12 slots used for a weapon that has a very high rate of fire, a sound that screams get away, and enough ammo to push back anyone trying to attack. The ammo is rather common at deer stands. Not saying this is the easiest weapon to find... but it should be a contender just because of the economy of space and firepower provided. Also you look pretty tricked out with an AS50 and an M249. 'Cause c'mon thats what were really here for... right? -

Ok as the subject says... is it? I don't see the point of walking into those places when all it seems to be is TDM (on a persistent survival simulator seems odd). Also when squads "Lockdown" the cities what are you really gaining? You're fighting under equipped people... like unless your starting a flashlight collection I don't see the purpose.

I think that this is very interesting. Our favorite game is under attack... The devs are working hard to fix it... The flamers on the forums are mainly attacking the person(s) involved in the attack and Battle eye (everyone's favorite punching bag)... The bandit/survivor chatter is low, because everyone just wants to get back to doing what they do. Could it be that this day will forge the community anew through the fires of hack attacks at least for a bit? Flame all you want, but the next time someone tries a DDoS on Dayz again I can see a new realm of elitism forming remembering this day... Welcome to DayZ's Crispins Day 07/02/2012 and should tomorrow come and the Dev's give up trying to stop the hackers, at least we can all say we were there at the end. But should the devs prevail I look forward to killing and being killed anew in a great mod. Cheers TL;DR, today is a social experiment that could help or destroy the community and I think its awesome.

I'd like to approach this idea of "impossibility" and "game" For something to be impossible it cannot be able to be interacted with or dealt with in anyway. This is one post of rants from one character who is completely over shadowed by the land slide of "rocket this is the best game ever" etc. Could this game use a tutorial sure... but the ever constant reminder that this is an alpha is still present and listening to interviews this game won't be getting any easier. Game -> an activity that is done for fun or amusement. If your not having fun don't play, coming to the boards to complain isn't mature or smart and will probably be made into a meme at some point. My suggestion to you, educate yourself. Learning how to use a compass in game is the exact same way as using one in real life same with reading that topographic map. These are the realistic elements that make the game fun for us. If you can't educate yourself about these elements ask about them on the forum or in new player discussion there are helpful people on here but its not about WHAT you ask its HOW you ask. Good luck -
Obvious troll is Obvious. So the thought here was make a public admission that your going to try and steal an already previously made idea (which is still in alpha leading to your largest concern bugs glitches etc) Man go work for Funcom I hear they tried a similar thing couple years back.

@Zipper Ok I can understand that in fact that really kinda opens a new idea on the Cherno Elektro thing for me at least. But still my biggest complaint is that there is so much more world out there that the average time alive still creeping around that 30min mark. It doesn't make sense to myself when you can get everything you need to survive in the same 30 mins by going like 2 kilometers north. -

@Oompa I've always played that way... I guess I just can't get into the mind frame of "survival" while running headlong into a high population area where most others have firearms.
