TheRunningManZ's open letter to the DayZ developers
Habibabob replied to Kathosky's topic in General Discussion
ahhh that makes sense. I saw your earlier post, and i was like, has this guy even played the new map? -
These changes ruined everything for me (xbox)

The insulation is based on type of hunter gear. The autumn and winter hunter gear is still really good. Also the despawning thing is because youre on a commmunity server. The despawning rates are up to the owners. On official bags last 8 hours. Also i dont get where you get the idea that you need to build stashes and bases now? Also youre dying from disease because youre cold and starving. You have to make fires in sakhal to stay warm. Also your wet because when you log out your character stays on for 15-30 seconds which is why youre wet when you log in. oh, and a tip, when you get wet, you can wring out your clothes to damp (10-5% wetness). So its not a death sentence as long as you do that. -
me too

yeah you get them from cutting up down jackets

sometimes i feel that removing night vision altogether would be so much more fun. it feels cheap for the person using it, and unfair for the victim. and if 2 people with night vision fight, its just a normal fight like the daytime. it would be so much more fun if the light from flashlights, guns, and glowsticks, as well as audio are the main ways you fight in the dark. if you do have to have night vision, at least make it so its more like how it was in the 80s (ie, bad resolution, choppy and fuzzy, as well as heavy, and greatly restricting fov, so its an actual decision to put it on, not just flicking a light switch when night comes.

Rework the CR-75 and new compact revolver
Habibabob replied to Original_Name62's topic in Suggestions
keep in mind all the guns have a purpose. i dont like the idea of having to drop a gun for another simply because its better. i get the idea, but i dont really like it. some guns are like that like the bk12 and the 1911, but hey, even i keep that ij with a suppressor since it takes so many shots to ruin the suppressor and ammo is so easy to find. -
Rework the CR-75 and new compact revolver

there arent any 12 round mags irl 😞 -
what happens when they wake up in your arms
-
they should add slings for long guns, and get rid of the two slots for weapons, so you cant carry an m4 and a sniper
-
idk maybe they put it in their pant leg?
-
Remove Bottle Suppressors and rework actual suppressors.
Habibabob replied to FuzzyBear182's topic in Suggestions
then its just an extra barrel. supressors have chambers to filter out the gas. -
Well thought out and pretty intresting 👍
-
nono i like the immersive nature of it. Makes it feel so real, and the more real it feels, the more you really get invested into the game. I wish they would add some things like the maps actually being in front of you and not pulling up that dumb screen 😞

Eating fruits should boost immunity slightly.

THERE ARE BERRIES????!!! -
Lack of scopes for long range weapons is a problem and suggestions for new scopes.
Habibabob replied to Izaac Howe's topic in Suggestions
I think the more realistic they make the guns, the better. I would love if they made an attachtment system, and added stuff like taking time to take scopes off, needing a screwdriver or a wedgelike tool to apply certain attachments, and things like the 10x scope specifically for the SVD, and other things, like maybe being able to take apart weapons the way they are in real life and clean or apply them from there. maybe you can find different barrel lenghts and stocks and whatnot on different weapons and be able to take apart and mix and match? -
The bears do come for you by the way. They stop after knocking out or killing a player. Many Bears irl have parasites that are pretty dangerous. Its a pretty big survival tip not to EVER eat bear meat. I do wish some bears didnt have the parasite, that would be intresting. But dayz does best when it drives the game to realism, and the parasites is a step in the right direction for me.

Im starting an somewhat open civilization in lesogorvok, and having little notes to label peoples houses and rules in certain areas would be amazing. Its so simple yet it benefits so many players.

Im pretty sure the devs arent willing to go that far for something a lot of players wont experience. personally, i think dayz is at its best when that feeling of a real and immersive world is present, so much so that there are tons of things you'll never know. But it seems like the devs right now are focusing on updates that really only makes a big difference. Hopefully if they ever get more resources, theyll focus on things like that. Also, dont forget that they are still working on Dayz 2 right now. (i think)

Its a good idea, but i think the execution would make it jarring. maybe add a black outline barely visible in the icons so that they only show when outlined by snow?
-
As much as you may be right, the whole sum of your point doesn't fully apply. A game doesn't have to be realistic, but Dayz thrives pursuing a simulation of that realism. (not computer simulation). whether its the feeling of cooking at a fire with friends, or tracking down whole groups, the game is most fun when it feels most real and has actual stakes. Its the immersion that makes those stakes feel real and meaningful. The main quarrel i have with that ideology is that, yes, while a game doesn't HAVE to be realistic, depending on certain tones and styles of games, there is a lot to still gain by pursuing that. Even then, adding a feature thats "realistic" doesn't mean that it has to be detrimental to the game. it can be realistic, and beneficial in a game sense. The main reason of limiting the clothing slots by devs wasn't to stop people from pulling a Winchester Model 70 Tundra Sniper Rifle out of their school backpack. Rather, it was aimed to control players hoarding and looting, and making them have to make legitimate decisions instead of being overly prepared for every situation (which was the meta). I wholeheartedly believe that the core of Dayz doesn't revolve around an arcade style looter shooter (although some people make it that way similar to rust in community servers), but the core of dayz that shows and lands the game on a shining pedestal devoid of faulty intention, is when your bleeding, wounded, freezing, starving, and hanging on by the skin of your teeth. making whatever decisions have to be made, and holding your own against indubitably impossible odds, just in order to survive. That feeling of being the only one left alive, and barely so with hands slowly dripping down the rope, is what Dayz's identity is built off of. Or at least so it seems.

why wouldnt it be another helicopter then. its doesnt have to be a press helicopter if they are just looking to rescue random people.
-
its just you bro.

They could just make it so when you are moving you can only lean about 1/5 of the way, and you have to lean in the same direction again while standing still to lean the full length.

The game has become more of a shooter than a survival game
Habibabob replied to noob from Poland's topic in Suggestions
Hes saying too many weapons on the ground, not in the lootpool. There is no inherent order. The picture the devs have been trying to paint is a survival close to real life, in which the enviroment would be as big of a threat as players.
