The zigzagging and such is part of Arma2's AI pathing, not by design. Along with the glitching through walls, all of the buggy zombie behavior is due to it's status first as a mod, and second from said mod being in alpha.

why thank you. In all my time i have killed 3 people all in self defence, whats the big deal with hurr durr i'm gonna kill someone for better gear because i cant spend a few days gathering my shit?
