  1. I'll be honest, if this went through, most people would /maybe/ put only marks down with no labels and remember what's what. But most people will continue to just right things down on pen and paper or maybe a notepad .txt file. The map marking would only be really good if you could share it with other players in-game perhaps.

  2. Put some time into finding one single good server. Some admins actually advertise their server on the forums. But because all the servers are run by private people instead of the DayZ staff or anything, you will run into this kind of thing. If somebody is kicking you repeatedly, report them. If a server is locked, report them. If you've got bad FPS, tell the admin so they can force a restart (which can fix some things like that). At the end of the day, forum admins are players too that want to care for their particular server, scare off hackers, and ensure that the server is well-run.

  3. Yeah I suppose you guys are right. But there are ways around it, like only being able to build fences, etc. in established settlement areas, rather then anywhere at your own free will.

I don't know, I just feel like having only underground settlements really take out that interesting, survival dynamic of having a zombie infiltration

Don't worry, Rocket has said that you'll be able to make underground lairs to store things, farm things, etc. Not that they'd be safe from zombies or other players. To paraphrase Rocket from a recent interview: "How do you keep people from attacking underground locations? I don't, the players do."

  4. I would be so bold as to say the tent and vehicle bugs are VERY bloody game breaking. I mean what's left if you can't fix up vehicles or place some bases/tents around the maps. Only really pvp in Cherno/Elektro left with those.gone.

Continue playing, surviving. Look for better gear, assist friendlies, play medic, play trader... Heck, my friends and I have been living out of our packs and been hunting for snipers and bandits.

  5. This is a secret and somewhat profitable marketing strategy. Slowly and discretely "break" the mod-based version of DayZ while simultaneously hyping the standalone version's stability/playability so that by the time it is actually released, people will be throwing cash at their computer screens faster than Rocket can count it.

Can't tell if trolling or just stupid.

  6. For a lot of us (check the bug reports section of the forums) we CONSTANTLY spawn on the beach (sometimes without any gear!) and despite rumor to the contrary, there is nothing you can do to fix or avoid it if it is affecting you, I have tried everything.

Post by Griff should be a sticky as I bet the others affected by this bug are just as upset about the lack of updates and communication from the devs. I hadn't seen it.

The post by Griff is in the middle of the 1.7.2.5 rolling update thread, can't exactly sticky that. And are you spawning on the beach every time you log in or is it because you're changing servers frequently because that was added as a feature to stop server hopping AFAIK.

  7. I know that the OP wanted to say. We had good support till now and the dev's even talked to the folk on these forums, whereas other dev's can only be reached in your dreams or via an lawyer lol

But I start getting the feeling as if DayZ mod gets pushed aside more and more, which is understandable as they are focused on the standalone. But no dev, replied in long time now, and no new update info is leaking out. The forums being slow as fuck and no one makes an official statement about it either. A lot of things changed here after the last update that lead to a suspicious conclusion that they just left us sitting here on our own. I don't say they did, but it feels like it with each new day.

Artifacting? Just delete bodies out of the game. And remove barbed wire. I know its easier sometimes to try and fix stuff then removing it but do something as the artifacts are now for months present and I believe its NOT THAT OF A FUCKING COMPLICATED PROBLEM for you to not have figured it out yet how to fix. I just smell lazyness here.

Idk. All seems fucked up the last 1-2 weeks or so.

And flamers aka "mighty wannabe defenders of the devs" , go ahead and do your thing, wont bother to reply or read this thread anyways. Peace

I would rather they fix the artifacting bug to determine what causes it rather than just dodging around it. As for updates and replies from the Dev Team, Griff posted this in the 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update Thread:
Right due to the amount of PMs I am getting, the patch will not be released till after the 6th September. When Rocket returns from PAX. Funnily enough that is also my birthday I accept presents....

The amount of gifts showered upon me will not impact the date of the release of the update and Dean is still working on the update while he is away in the US. I apologise for the wait but patience is a virtue. As we are developing the mod and the game at the same time, updates for the mod are likely to be less often due to the increased development tempo on DayZ standalone.

As I say, you can't always have your Tiramisu and eat it.

  8. I didn't miss, i frapsed it...And DMR I said is one hit knock out, not one hit kill. I know they do 8k damage. Should be two shots to kill one person with either gun, except hs. And when I prone and hold my breath, I still get some sway and that is the only gun I get that with.

edit: I guess I worded it wrong in my OP. I was trying to say, one hit to knock them out, and then one more hit to kill them. Apologies..Should take 2 shots though.

    Derp.

  9. 19 days since an update. As for 'game breaking' bug, what have you encountered? Have you reported it? Yes, there's artifacting, but you can still play the game. Tents and vehicles don't save contents after server restart and some vehicles disappear as well, but you can still play. Annoying bugs? Absolutely. 'Game breaking'? Definitely not.

Again, if you have run into a real game-breaking bug, please tell us about it so we can join in testing it and make a detailed bug report.

  10. Smokeless powder is the name given to a number of propellants used in firearms and artillery which produce negligible smoke when fired, unlike the older gunpowder (black powder) which they replaced. The basis of the term smokeless is that the combustion products are mainly gaseous, compared to around 55% solid products (mostly potassium carbonate, potassium sulfate, and potassium sulfide) for black powder.[1] Despite its name, smokeless powder is not completely smoke-free

    http://en.wikipedia....mokeless_powder

    I rest my case.

Oh, wasn't an arguement or anything, just joining in and agreeing. :P

  11. On my first try I got this as well, make sure you join the server with the lowest ping and change your graphic settings to very low or just low

Actually, this is can be a bit of a trap. When settings are actually too low you place the majority of the processing on only the CPU and little on the video card. It's an ARMA thing. I actually get worse FPS at 1920x1080 on low settings than I do at high and very high. Easiest way to work out your proper settings is boot up the armory in standard ARMA2, set the view distance to 1000 (which is the hardcap for servers for DayZ I believe) and play with your settings until you're happy.

  12. There will be less muzzle flash and less 'smoke' because silence rounds aren't made from anything special, they just have less propellant, so they move with less force and therefore don't rip a silencer apart. The silencer is what really does the work, the SD rounds are to ensure the silencer can work. Whether this has appropriate visuals in game, I don't know. Infected treat all silenced rounds as if fired from a silenced weapon but it's hard to aim SD rounds with a normal weapon because of a different ballistic arc. This is all more information than you asked for so: TL;DR, it should be less.

And for schrapple, yeah, it's not smoke it's actually steam and some other gases not actually smoke as from the traditional burning of old school gunpowder..

  13. Try other servers. I've got a beast of a computer (again, buy a damn desktop, learn to put it together yourself, save a lot of money and do upgrades yourself) but some servers for whatever reason have some TERRRRIBLE frame rate issues. This isn't lag by the way. Lag is when you click to pull the trigger and the gun doesn't go off or you click to make a fireplace and it's forever before you begin the animation. Lag is a slowdown between your computer communicating with the server, framerate issues are when your game seems to slow down and get choppy. But yeah, change servers, reboot, make sure your laptop isn't overheating.

  14. Do you mean the Shooting Range map by [MIC] Murcielago? I have just installed it but can't find the AS50 or the L85A2. And I have checked all three boxes. Do you know by an chance in which boxes they are?

Regarding sniper hill near Elektro, I know about the hill northeast of the power plant but as I understand they also have another position. Is it the hill northwest of the powerplant or let's north of the barn?

AS 50 is in the box of sniper rifles the L85A2 AWS is in the box with the rifles. It's all clearly labelled and in alphabetical order. I've fired both in the mod, though I've not used the ACE version so it's possible it's not in that one.

  15. Everybody know about heli crash sites , i lol'd.

I mean about Barraks as himselfs - to military base wich will spawn maybe as Heli crash sites and will stay maybe a WEEK in one place on ALL SERVERS OF THE GAME - it will improve bandit group tactics, your group will need start creating new tactics, it would be nice i think.

You want Rocket to program in a system where a full military base spawns randomly throughout the game? The concept is interesting, and I've suggested similar for the standalone, but I doubt it would make it's way into the mod. The sheer chance of it breaking things, causing artifacting, or any number of other glitches is a bit high at this point.
