Yes, yes, yes. A billion times yes. Particularly if there's no way a single person can handle those kind of encounters.

You can recover your humanity with blood transfusions and zombie kills. But yes, even if they shoot first, you still killed a guy. The only way you'd get away without losing humanity is if the guy had low enough humanity to count as a bandit kill. Honestly, don't get too hung up on the negative humanity.

Holy crap, I might have to hunt down some NVGs for that exact reason...

I have officially played too much DayZ!
Lonrem replied to Teach (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No disrespect taken. Just spreading the word. Also, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada are known to prefer the word 'soccer'. :D But on a more on-topic note, back when I was playing WoW more often I actually thought during a long drive: "It'll be okay, I'll get there, do my thing, then just hearthstone home." -

Blah, blah, cool story. But seriously... Brits came up with 'soccer' first. You just stopped using the word because other countries called it 'football'. Read up: http://en.wikipedia....ki/Oxford_"-er" -
Holy crap, we got Dr. Wasteland and DancingBear in here. And yes, I agree, getting to work with strangers, however, nerve wracking is awesome, and I don't mind the paranoia that they could be setting me up. But right now, except for somebody just being nice, there's nothing to keep someone from shooting me in the back. It's why I liked the old bandit skin system, flawed as it was. My hope is to see some very basic skill tree system that encourages you to work with others. Farming, building, mining, etc. Non-combat oriented jobs to allow some diversity. Allows you to do something together you could never do apart.

Server Handling: Once you die, you're out!

And I will play with my friends how? One death and suddenly I'm alienated from my friends? Interesting concept for lone wolves though. -
Harsher penalties for dying and game balance.

My last 2 deaths have been due to glitches. Twice I logged in and immediately died while my buddies logging in beside me were fine. They recovered my gear and I continued play after trekking all the way up to recover it. There is no 'failure to survive' in that. I understand the idea and mechanic that you're looking for but a blatant 'lose all your tents upon death' won't work. Mostly because people will start storing everything in vehicles and use them as fullproof mobile tents. Also, you can destroy tents buy chucking a grenade, blowing up a jerry can, or (I believe) just hatcheting it. -

First off, tents and vehicle hoarding isn't exactly secure. Also, it rewards people who've played a bit longer and worked together to get those tents and gear loaded up. I can understand some of the irritation, but honestly, that's how things are for now. As for the standalone, I don't expect that you'll see vehicle hoarding in particular, as much as it is in the mod. And if they introduce some kind of end game content where you run the risk of losing your gear to some zombie horde, that will help dissipate any hoarded gear. But as a guy who's been playing for several months now, my group of three has just now gotten to that point of having gear in tents to make a speedy recovery but it's not like we've got tons of end game gear stashed away. A lot of what you may be seeing are script kiddies spawning in gear for their buddies. Once the gear is in, anybody can use it without any real fear of being banned or anything so the original script kiddies never get reported and the clan enjoys their goodies. Stand fast, keep the faith, all that crap. The Standalone is coming. -
Technically I believe there is a loophole that allows it, but it's not officially supported and it's a bit of a douchebag dick move. Like the mod, want to see the eventual standalone, support the guys making it.

Right now that is the problem, there is no reason to be friendly. That's one of the things Rocket has said he'd like to address.

True, the O+ would do it. But honestly, once it takes up three places, I'd rather have separate components so I can move them about more easily. This is one of those suggestions that on the surface could be cool, but after playing with it, I don't know if I would find it all that useful. What happens if you use the 'blood bag' aspect of it? Does it still take up 3 spaces? Can you still use the painkiller and morphine?
-
Honestly, I'm friendly to a point. If you're near me and don't see me, I've got my crosshairs between your eyes, I'll tell you to leave before I shoot. Out of range of Direction Communication or I think you may have seen me and might be able to shoot me, then I shoot first. Han Solo, mutha-fuckah.

Yeah, M16A2 doesn't exactly fit into that. :D Sadly, no such luck in my inventory.
-
If you're looking for something more long range, also have an AKM... I actually don't think I've got anything actually in the M-class of weapons.
-
Got a AK74 Kobra that I can part with, 3 clips of rounds.
-
Now attaching a military flashlight would be really cool. Make them worth picking up.
-
I like the idea of headlamps, but flashlights in general are just bandit bait at the moment. In the standalone with the options of underground caverns or whatever they end up being, headlamps would be awesome. Night vision merely amplifies existing light, so it could be cool if NVGs actually didn't work in the tunnels. However, I'm not up-to-date with real world NVGs, it's quite possible they emit a little bit of light themselves and could be 'self-sustaining' so to speak.

So what... it makes all the other items useless? Also, what first aid kits have you got around your house that has a IV bag (not to mention filled with right blood type), morphine and an epi-pen? Not to mention the 'cures all ills' magic antibiotic? Yes, it would be nice to reduce how much inventory space med supplies take up, but that's part of the game, carrying what's vital, etc.

Had a successful trade with RazorWire. Took us a bit, finding a right server and meeting up. No ambush waiting, no guns pulled, etc. L85A2 for a pair of ghillie suits.

Trading my As 50 and L85A2.

Just a quick confirmation that Razor was a legit trader. No back stabbing, no buddies hidden in the trees, etc. -
Underground Exploring / Cave System / Mine
Lonrem replied to SteveMac555's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Apparently his idea was entering the place via grates and such in the ground. So cisterns or existing sewers perhaps. I would love for a full blown sewer system that people split up. "Your group has that area, we have this area, we band together to kill invaders." That would be AWESOME. -
You're asking this question in a forum devoted to a game. You might try some place less biased. But as Montrio said, I don't know you, so I wouldn't know. That said, I've enjoyed this more than Skyrim for sheer multiplayer sake.

Some of the hacked weapons take the place of your primary slot and backpack slot when equipped. I don't know how, I don't know why, but that is the information that's been floating about the forums.
