I do enjoy the punishment of not taking zombies seriously, as encountering them not only endangers you and your fellow players, but reveals your position and forces you to shoot them or, even harder, evade them. Simply running by zombies is not possible and reminds me that this isn't just another game where zombies are just bystanders over a PVP/Looting/MMO element.

The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell
zorisx replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I would enjoy more of a horror, must live element. I however don't like the idea of being forced to do something The purpose of creating such an atmosphere is to amplify the social psychological aspect of the game of never knowing who you are going to come across, let alone if they're going to shoot you. If we can somehow implement a "proper" zombie behavior whilst maintaining a world of scarcity and fear...then we will have something truly epic. -
Idea for getting people to team up ...
zorisx replied to ATOJAR's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Make some :P -
This mechanic would have to be severely disciplined, I don't know how you could regulate it. Make a group of atleast 4 people Each person must have a certain amount of required resources Only 1 structure per group OR Only 1 main base and 4 towers per group ( you get the idea ) Just throwing ideas out there. The server hopping would definitely have to go.

My friend Logan shot my friend Alex in the top right shoulder and killed him whilst trying to save me from zombies. 1 shot Makarov killed our friend lol.

Is this still available?

A solution to the bandit system, maybe?
zorisx replied to michael.lerch@hotmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think keep the psycho-social aspect of the game simple yet immersive is the key element. Too many statistics and calculations, groups and standings can be too cumbersome to a newborn player...as if this world isn't as tough as it is. Sometimes a little basic is what we need. :) -
Thanks Rocket for making a great Alpha of a game. I hope you continue to make this game flourish and keep in mind to stay true to yourself, make sure whatever your doing...you stick to your guns. I love the hardcore aspect of this game and would hate to see it become an EA bi-product where it caters to the player. Bugs aside, this should be a hard, infuriating, amazing, heart-pumping, suspenseful thriller of a game. I hope you listen to the community and make sure any creativity never ceases. Congratulations and I hope to see you on the forums half a year or so when this Alpha turns into a smash hit. -Zoris

Realistic noise levels for prone/crouch/standing
zorisx replied to shadowvfx's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'd like to see what steps will be taken in the next patch to adjust issues regarding Zombie behavior, player discipline and logic will be reassessed. -
Hey add zoris oreillias on skype from Canada. I'll join you! I play with my friends after work and such, so the more the merrier :)

The best weapon in this game would follow the criteria of having the most silent shots to not attract zombies, the most available ammo, and the most effective damage. I would honestly say that a M1911 would definitely be up there in terms of quality/quanitity and effectiveness. Mainhand I would take an M16 w/ Silenced.

Why painkillers (Starting gear gripe)
zorisx replied to DinkyDogg's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ahhh, why not painkillers? :) -
There is no need to power survivors. We are struggling to survive for a reason. One bullet is all it takes, no matter from whom. Large groups have their benefits, lone wolves have theirs. Don't forget that with every choice, there is a consequence.

Today was my first day of survival, and here is how it went. I spawned today at Kamyshovo. My friend Logan spawned in Prigorodky. I heard Elektro had some interesting loot, so I recommended that us having nothing, we had nothing to lose and everything to gain, despite the threat. After lots of running, sneaking around zombies, and trying to communicate with a passer-byer, I had arrived along the outskirts of the vivid Elektro, where Logan was holding up within the Firestation with an empty Makarov. I've never been in Elektro so it took some coordination. After 3 days IRL we finally found eachother and it was a joyous moment for sure. Among the city ruins I had found a ghillie suit and some meds as well as some Makarov ammo. This proved to be a great opportunity for us as the entire game just changed as soon as I gave him the ammo. It then became a secondary goal of finding medical supplies. Luckily the medical center stands out from afar within the city, and getting some love from it was never in question. When I was in the process of looting the medicine, two young survivors ran by with a horde of zombies following, looking for medical supplies. Shots were fired and I ran as fast as I could through many covers and laid down. Made my way through the outskirts and found Logan within the supermarket. He had been struck recently and was bleeding out in the backroom of the supermarket. A zombie had broken his leg since it materialized through the wall. Amazing bugs. After we took care of the wounds, we left the center of the city and found a little factory overlooking Elektro to the N-West. As we were approaching Logan claimed I should refill on meds before we head off. I left back to the hospital to get what I could and soon after that I heard a humungous flurry of shots being fired. Logan said he was shot! I bolted from the hospital and found him behind a house. Bandaged, Blood Transfusioned the both of us and we took ourselves over a hill and ran the coast near Drakon Island. We searched a few buildings under the massive docking cranes, one particular door we opened revealed a survivor, dead and all. We both gasped and rummaged through the belongings. Found some ammo and made our way past the road/tracks and into the brush. The roads were relentless. Long hiking is definitely a must in this game as I feel that this simulator has accomplished the look, feel and essence of the forests. Very Canadian-like. (live in canada ^^ ) We made our way up hill, downhill and my hunger was flashing red...I had little time. We came across a road with an abandoned HUMV across from a desolate mini-church I suppose it was. After finding only zombies and empty cans we were deprived from our preemptive hopes, and more morphine was used to cure Logan's brittle bones. Trekking the trails and hitting the dirt we were starving. Logan was red from hunger and my character was getting dizzy ( flashing red ). We came across the smallest little hut with a zombie inside which I ended up aggro-ing. This was the most fortunate mistake so far, as this soon-to-be dead zombie gave me a Can of Pasta!!! Feeling much better about my status, we hit the road again in pursuit of another city. A castle sign let us knew what was ahead and I couldn't be happier from what came next... Approaching the castle, we were surrounded by infected. Hacking and shooting our way through, we were rewarded with beautiful scenery, extra can of pasta, a water canteen and my first weapon! Luckily I kept extra Makarov rounds =) Unleashed a bullet and it felt sweet....so sweet. Made our back on a path that led us to the Crane docks outside of Elektro, near Drakon Island again. My intent was to get more food and find a place to hold up. Logan was flashing red. This ended up being a fatal choice. Logan and I split apart. I think after doing so well we both got really cocky. Shooting zombies, finding little of loot and losing ourselves. I followed the trail of opened doors and dead zombies until I heard Logan screaming that he got knocked out and that the zombie was eating his flesh!!! I quickly bolted over and kept calling to where he was. The message appeared. Logan was killed. This was horrid. I was alone again. I searched for his body and was surprised that a fellow survivor was being chased by zombies. I shot it up and bandaged the stranger survivor. He didnt have a mic so we communicated with nods and head movement. I told him of what happened and we made way to slaughter the zombie that killed Logan. I grabbed what I could of his and made my way to refill on supplies so that next time we meet, we would be ready. END OF DAY ONE //// TL : DR Version:: My friend Logan and I found a pistol and supplies in Elektro, opened a door to a dead survivor across from Drakoni. Went to a castle Rog where we found my first weapon a Makarov and Logan ended up dying from a single zombie hit that knocked him out. TLDR's END OF DAY ONE////

Thank you for your courteous mod. I hope it never shifts to the casual commercial game and stays true to it's roots. That being a hardcore, SURVIVAL, realistic zombie apocalypse where your greatest gift....is life.

I like that you start with nothing. it immersifies ( lol not a word ) the game and separates the weak from the patient.

Do I NEED to get supplies before I literally go to sleep???
zorisx posted a topic in New Player Discussion
I saw a guy post this on the forum and was wondering if there was any validity to it ? "Your next step is to survive, Collect more food, water, ammo, and gear so you can survive the nights (Logging out, then logging back in without food/water is a death sentence.)" Does he/she mean that if your hunger and water levels are minimal before you log out at night, that in the morning/noon your character will be near-death or dead? -

Oh god, thank you lol. I just looted a VSS with 100 + rounds and was about to call it quits for today ( don't have watercanteen and hunting knife. ) -
I'm literally at the same position you are. I just found a body with a VSS with 100+ rounds and my next priority is food and water. I'm waiting till my friends get on so I can have a chance at living with this character lol.

There are a number of things to do. 1 ) Find a comfortable server and favorite it. Make it your main 2 ) Construct a vehicle 3 ) Rescue others, befriend survivors. 4 ) Establish a foothold. 5 ) Construct a helicopter. 6 ) Take out enemy threats. 7 ) Find NV goggles

If your able to get a guillie suit, then you earn that little bug in my opinion....then again, so does your killer ;) I'm not too bent on the whole "well this item doesnt show" issue. Its just one of the perks of being lucky :)

I don't know about you guys, but I'm finding it much harder to find a water canteen than anything else. I blame myself for the starvation, as I have received a few hunting knives in the past, but after a solid day playing this mod, I have yet to come across a canteen. I understand that in previous patches, canteens were gratuitous. Can anyone give me a hint of what I can do to quench my ever-growing thirst?

Thanks, I'm coming across empty cans 99% of the time. At the moment I have just looted a VSS rifle with over 100 rounds ( my first weapon in the game ) and I'm very passive about playing my character now. Just to say, I didn't kill the guy. I heard a huge explosion...went to check out the scene and the poor fellow died! Just to say, I didn't kill the guy. I heard a huge explosion...went to check out the scene and the poor fellow died!
