  1. Knowing which houses are open is crucial to the enjoyment of this game. Having a map is something that can be considered "cheating", but can greatly enhance the enjoyment and smooth out the learning curve quite a bit. I printed out a simple map with just town names on it. Nothing else. So I know where I'm going, but along the way, I'm still discovering the area. No compass still forces me to orient myself within the game world, and not just blindly follow a cursor. I can now loot basic equipment withing first few towns and be in good shape for the rest of the character's life.
  2. There should NOT be "Player XXX was killed" messages in this game. I see a lot of people sniping from long distance, and that message is a dead giveaway if they hit or not. Diving for prone after first shot is heard and missed, is not as effective if they know they haven't killed you due to no message popping up..

    Is anyone friendly anymore?

It seems that if, God forbid, something like this happens in real life, after some time when all the confusion and horror of new situation dulls down, and people realize there is no more government, no more police and therefore no more consequences, and death is cheap and awaits beyond every corner, this is exactly what would be happening in real life. An asshole with a gun murdering and raping anything that moves, just because he can. What is this drive that haunts us, and gets adrenaline pumping when we hunt another human being? Doesn't matter if its virtual or not. Why do we get our jollies off, when we have another person in the iron sights, and squeeze that trigger to see that red puff and him dropping down? I'm saying this, because I felt it too. Its that predatory instinct of stalking your pray, and then moving in for a kill. A consequence of death you say? You die, that's it, no respawn, no new character. Well, when your life is in danger every minute, what difference does it make if you are eaten by a zombie, you starve to death, or you brake your leg and slowly die somewhere in the forest? When life is cheap, nobody will bargain for it, unless they don't want to waste a bullet on you. We are still on the evolutionary step of predatory animals, with just fancy fangs and claws. Love will not save this world, you are all witnesses to that. One might save a dog from the burning building, but there are five others waiting in line to kick that same dog, to death. This mod is not just a game, this is a social experiment. No pass or fail, no right or wrong, but just simply looking in a mirror at ourselves.

    Is anyone friendly anymore?

Oh, c'mon this whole "I'll split your skull and laugh at you" shit is getting boring. How many insecure, real-life wanna be bullies are out there that enjoy senseless violence in virtual world? Seriously, I was playing today, and a fucker was trying to sneak behind me with a hatchet... yes a friggen hatchet. He was so chewed up, he looked like a zombie himself. Seriously, do you think coming at an armed man with a hatchet will get you more headway than just typing "I'm friendly, need help" ??? Of course, looking back at this, it was a nice moment for me. A crazy, beaten up guy sneaking behind me with an axe to get my stuff, while there are zombies all around. Desperation, fear, greed. Made a nice movie moment there. Up to a point where he got one right between his eyes, and I had to bail out of there, because of the sound of a gunshot. Instances like these, from time to time are priceless, but the whole PvP no questions asked, shoot first, is getting boring.
