I think a cool idea for a map would be a hot map, set in like a desert with few water sources.
A cold/shade mechanic would be essential much like heating yourself up with heat packs for Namalsk we could have handheld fans and desert robes/hats to keep shaded and cool.
Being out in the heat for too long with little shade will give you heat stroke and start losing health and feinting.
Much like deserts, at night time the temperatures would drop to below freezing so having some warm clothes/heat packs will also be essential.
Catching rain water with containers will also be crucial as on this map rain would be rare and most wells would be dried up other than those close to water sources and oasis'.
