As I have repeatedly said, I have no problem with PvP - but sniper rifles are too prevalent, and they essentially force PvP, in a mod that Rocket very clearly stated was 'not PvP'. Twisting someones words -the childish rhetoric I was talking about. Besides, if I didn't like PvP, I certainly wouldn't play the offline version of DayZ, there are 100+ better mods for that kind of gameplay.

Simple and very good, another 5 stars.

Who said anything about matrimony? I'm talking basic human necessity, as important as eating and sleeping. Who said anything about romance? You obviously don't have much experience with online gaming if you think that men don't like playing female characters, and clearly underestimate the female gaming demographic and the universal appeal of the Zombie culture. Furthermore, the majority of DayZ players don't come from a milsim background. Your post is full of more non-sequiturs than I could shake a bible at. So long as there are no silly elements such as kissing animations etc. involved, I think any man comfortable with his sexuality wouldn't really care about the mechanic in the way you seem to suggest, so long as it provides some kind of benefit. I appreciate feedback in general, but your post was very poorly if not completely unresearched, and the link just plain silly.

This thread is silly, but the OP did have a point, stop arguing off topic nonsense about the M9 being removed too. Learn how to structure a logical argument people, and not resort to infantile rhetoric. There is a problem presented by the fact that there are a great many sniper rifles in the game, which more-or-less force PvP as they are good for nothing else. Like I said - make ammo VERY scarce, so that we are encouraged to stash them somewhere, rather than use them as a primary. lol so just because it can be civilian-owned doesn't make it a military-used weapon? don't get into technicalities, this is just a game, and in the frame of dayz, some weapons just don't fit in You're right the military uses the M9 as well, lets remove that too. And you still don't get it - the M9 is not a military weapon, although it is used by them sometimes. It was designed as a universal sidearm by Berretta. The M109 on the other hand, was designed exclusively for military use, as an anti-material rifle, then laws were changed to allow people to own one in certain places.

Fact - it is a military weapon.

Thank you :-)

Can't we have forum moderators add warning levels for things like this? We don't need people who think and speak this way in our community, please guys.

I think the best solution is to make the ammo even rarer for the top tier weapons. Find a way to prevent server farming - loot spawning should be dependent on total player number, as should be crash sites - they shouldn't occur at all on half-empty servers. Read my crash site suggestion to help improve this, and prevent the boring bandit-farmers from just collecting loads of stuff and killing everyone actually trying to make the most of the mod. I'm not against PvP, just the immature kids who can't think of anything else to do other than snipe.

Helicopter Crash Site Implementation Change - More immersion, realism, fun.

There is nothing in the lore that suggests immunity to the virus. One of the good things about the background is how vague it is - without researchers out there, how would we know the details anyway? As mentioned, I offered story possibilities in a previous post, but it would revolve around having someone in the crew 'turn', or it could have been evacuating an infected individual, either thought dead, or not fully turned. The crew that survive the crash are infected and that gives you your Zeds. OR - A completely different possibility - as I don't think crash sites even need more than 1-2 zeds with this change, is to have it draw a random number of zeds from the closest town, just to add to the 'mad dash for the crash' that someone mentioned! I mean, if they can hear me opening my Pepsi, they can hear a fully fuelled, fully armed UH1-Y exploding! -

NPCs - Doctors, Hunters, Mechanics, Dogs, Prostitutes etc
7-75 callaghan posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
These could be very rare 'spawns' that are found in specific places. Each could be persuaded to join the player group (using the existing group system in ArmA 2) either for some kind of item/s or a 'quest' - such as, bring me five pieces of raw meat, kill a Rabbit to prove your skills, find my Coyote backpack 'I left it somewhere nearby' etc. Maybe you would have to have several players within a 5m perimeter for some to join to encourage teamwork. (i.e. the 'prostitute', this is actually what the unit was called at one point, changed to 'City Woman 1/2/3' after a patch). They could all be killed for loot, but you wouldn't get the other advantages, and humanity would be lowered. Any human NPC could be used for additional 'storage', an extra pair of eyes and a fighter in combat situations, a distraction/bait, something to investigate another player to see if they are friendly or not etc. Doctors - rare and found hiding in hospitals, they come with one of each med supply, but can be trusted to give you blood transfusions in a way that players cannot be. Cannot be armed. Can be used as extra storage. Hunters - deep in the woods by campfires. They would have their own CZ550 or similar, you would control them as per regular AI, and would be skilled combatants. Dogs - these are already planned by Rocket, so i'm expanding on this idea. They would aid in hunting and could track players and animals/be used to 'fetch' items in dangerous places without aggroing Zeds. Mechanics - Found hiding in factories etc. Have their own toolbox, but no weapon. Same benefits as other human NPCs, could be commanded to repair with toolbox via action menu/standard command system, and then you could take goodies off them. Prostitutes - in Cherno/Electro, could be used as distractions, send them over to a player and make em say 'hey babe, wanna party?', just to piss them off and get that shot in, block their view, reveal their position, or just as Zed bait. Or you could arm them and have a cool killer lady in red with you. This is just a rough outline. I'm sure many other ideas will present themselves and the current ones could be heavily modified, but what do you all think of the idea of very rare NPC followers in general? They would be persistent across servers. Some complain about the Arma group AI, but actually if you know what you are doing, they are incredibly effective. To be fair I have 10+ years experience controlling them, but anyone can learn so long as they have a few brain cells. It would be an advanced feature anyway to make the endgame more interesting. -

Actually, it only takes about 5-10 minutes to do this in the editor. But then again I don't know if there is anything already in place that would have to be changed to accommodate it. -
Considering the original post was moved without warning, although clearly an excellent thread for both BIS and DayZ players, I thought I would link it in a way that was 'forum legal'. Ladies and Gentlemens, the ultimate ArmA 2 mod list, hundreds of other things to do with arma 2 when Zombies alone wont suffice. (now that isn't off topic, is it) http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=21938 Any other suggestions that are relevant to the thread title are welcome for forum rule and bumping purposes. ;-)

Hmm some immature player seemed to have ruined the 5/5 rating with a 1 star vote, just being a dick for the hell of it, because they didn't even post feedback. What a community, sigh. -
Is the game basically over once you have piles of loot?
7-75 callaghan replied to HedonismBot's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Totally disagree with the notion of end-game being about PKing, maybe if you came from COD or whatever. Really, this mod, this game in general, is all about teamplay, that is exactly what it was designed for. Playing with a group of friends is many, many times more enjoyable, but you wont know it till you try it. Besides, there is no 'best weapon', if you have a team, each weapon type becomes a force-multiplier. Join a team or start one, find a vehicle, repair it, set up a camp somewhere to increase loot stash, organise roles within the team and increase your resources, add members, eventually restart society. Isn't that the whole point of surviving a zombie apocalypse? Unless you are a complete arse of course. I'm not saying Pvp isn't a part of it, sometimes it is entirely necessary. But if you get more out of PKing than teamplay, then honestly you are pretty immature, most likely quite young objectively. And as everyone says, you will die eventually, if you think you are that great, see just how long you can survive. This mod, this game, is all about making your own objectives. The inventiveness of your objectives stands testament to who you are as a person, so if PKing is the best you can come up with... Well i'll just let that speak for itself. Personally I only enjoy it if it involves stalking and bounty-hunting bandits. -

Unconventional Weapons: Non-Lethals, Homemade and more
7-75 callaghan replied to ElemenoP's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Copy pasted from another post I made seeing as this thread is more active- In terms of non-lethal defensive weapons, for camps and sniper/shooter positions. I'd like to see trip-flares with moveable trip-wires (see ACE mod), maybe player made using an m203 flare/roadflare and scrap metal, as well as bear-traps, maybe player made if using the toolbox in combination with 2x scrap metal or something. Trip wires could be cut with toolkit. And maybe a lethal version using a hand-grenade and 2 x scrap metal + toolbox item. But that might be too much. These would all have to be visible, so that only careless players are caught out.
