Sorry BL1P, I think we should just abandon this thread because there is no cure for sheer ignorance and stupidity. Give them some time, it takes most players new to arma about a year or two before they really begin to understand what is involved. We are wasting our time here, because even if one has a revelation, and succeeds in understanding the very simple point we are trying to make, there will be 1000 others that come after repeating the same nonsense. Like I said, I know many guys that have come around to understand the fundamental effects that separate the different perspectives, and how they affect gameplay in a complex, macroscopic way. I just hope that Rocket, the one who's understanding actually counts for something around here, takes on board the idea that if he is to release a final, let alone a different product, that also uses permadeath and persistence, he will have to address these issues. Fortunately, none of these new players are in any kind of position of influence within the community. So although we have spent a long time trying to show them how these mechanics work beyond the most superficial surface level, which is all they currently comprehend, it is neither our responsibility nor worth any more of our time trying to do so. Intelligence and understanding are minority traits, so you should feel as comfortable as I do standing up against a majority, who are very clearly wrong. And not bad people, just highly mislead, and incapable of lateral or critical thought.

It isn't about me choosing for other people' date=' it is about universal fairness for a mod that will eventually become a final release MMORPG, where persistance matters, and because of player permadeath, that people might be able to kill you with equipment that they acquired by unfair means, and by using an exploit so in an unfair way, the game becomes broken, regardless of whether you use first or third person. ESPECIALLY if they decide to introduce a pay-monthly or pay-for-content system, which they may well do. Please watch your language, or I will report you to a moderator. Grow up, this is a suggestion thread, not a place for adolescents to redirect their sexual frustration. [hr'] And as usual, they realise their mistake, and slip away quietly. Anyway, it isn't my responsibility to explain this to every DayZ player one by one. I'll leave this story one last time, the rest is up to you guys, I have better things to do, like scratch my balls. Allow me to introduce Survivor A, an unassuming but determined fellow, currently running towards wall B, behind which bandit C is crouching. All are using 3rd person, apart from wall B, who is not sentient, but if he were would feel most uncomfortable about his entire predicament, and having spent so many years in Chernarus, would no doubt be an upright bastion of the moral unassailability of '1st-person-only'. Bandit C, holding the ALT key, is able to see around his socially-deprived person across an entire 360 degrees, including above and beyond the wall, without exposing a single part of his virginal, delicate and well kempt bandit body. Survivor A, also using this feature, just because he can, is also holding the ALT key to gain a 360 view of his surroundings whilst sprinting, just to make sure he isn't being followed by anyone, infected, healthy or wall. Alas, because of the tiresomely conservative laws of physics, that deny light the ability to curve around corners even in seemingly the most important of situations such as this, Survivor A is unable to see around and beyond these objects in the same way (please don't make me draw diagrams) as Bandit C. Wall B, were he able to comprehend within his grainy, weathered, yet well formed and resilient self would surely be most disapproving of the painful inevitability of the tragedy soon to unfold. Survivor A passes Wall B and, having been seen and tracked by Bandit C for minutes now, immediately takes 3 high-velocity rounds of 7.62mm full metal jacket in the leg, chest and head, ending his life before even having had time to take in the newly revealed surroundings. It seems likely that, had Wall B the capacity for consciousness inside his stalwart, Soviet-built, yet ultimately politically indifferent blocks of poured concrete, he would have thought it likely that Bandit C acquired the aforementioned firearm by equally unfair means, and in sheer, Chernarussian rage would have uprooted himself from his aged, moss encrusted base, and crushed Bandit C in a final expression of true, wall-based justice.

No, for the millionth damn time, that isn't the case. Even if EVERYONE is using 3rd person, it still isn't a level playing field. I have said this and explained this so many, many times now. Go back to page 4 or 5 I think and read my example story of why this is the case. It benefits some, who use it as an exploit, in many situations, but not others. The only way it would be fair, would be to give everyone xray vision. All of you, please read that example, which is just one of many, before repeating the same things again, and again, and again. *Bangs head against wall*

I'm all for it, I have seen it in several missions and Zombie mods before in ArmA and it looks and works great. It should definitely not be a permanent thing, but another weather feature, depending on season and time etc.

Not at all, if you have constructive criticism to offer, then I will listen to it and respond. I only ignore trolls who clearly have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to social dynamics. What is your constructive criticism when it comes to this suggestion? So far I have only disregarded the following criticisms, for reasons that you can read in my previous posts. 'Not realistic', 'I don't want to bugger a dude man', 'this isn't the sims'. And that is about it. None of those are insightful, or valid, yet I responded to them all in great detail and with a lot of patience anyway. Besides, you only need to look at my other suggestions to see the difference between an adult discussion, and me responding to incoherent and poorly-thought-through brain farts delivered by people who simply don't know what they are talking about. Specifically, I suggest looking at my Zombie infection suggestion thread, to see the difference between valid, and well-reasoned criticism, and my response to it, as opposed to the kind of - 'I dont want this f*ggy sh*t in mah game' or 'This adds nothing and is forced' (without being able to explain, over many, many posts, how). If you had been in my shoes, and had to respond to the same mindless nonsense time and time again, you would get impatient and start ignoring people too. And i'm still waiting for that constructive criticism from McSlaughter. I guess he saw my other threads, understood what I was talking about when it comes to these people, and decided to leave quietly. If you are out there McSlaughter, i'm waiting, and ready to respond.

I have a new favourite thing on this forum. The ignore function. I highly recommend it to anyone who responds to people who can't communicate basic ideas. Or who are just annoying trolls. I can see that someone has responded, but cannot see what he has said. Saves me time and my beautiful head of hair in one fell swoop. :-)

Sometimes they appear invisible in the inventory, so double check that you have dropped it. You wont be banned don't worry, but you will be if you start using it.

This is a hacked weapon. You need to report these players. Do you remember their names? The weapon list is on the DayZ Wiki and elsewhere. Find the forum section to report cheating and post details there including the server and time. Hackers are the single biggest problem in this mod.

I only play on expert servers. The story was just an example to make it clear to those people who think that it is an 'equal advantage' for all, that it isn't.
-
It would be nice, but until hackers are sorted out, this is of very minor importance. I unloaded an entire 30 rounds of 5.56 at point blank range into someone last night, and he was still able to turn around and kill me. Sort out the important issues like cheaters, then we can consider luxuries like this.
-
Would be a cool experiment, I honestly don't care either way. The hackers are the biggest problem right now. A good player should be able to adapt regardless of equipment, and likewise a good player will have no need for third person, crosshairs, and any of that nonsense. Give me something that shoots pointy things in the direction of my opponent, and I will overcome them.

Nope, that must be 'Callahan', the American, and not as good version lol. He used to be in my unit but left because we had a go at him for being racist.
-
If you had read the suggestion, as opposed to just come here to troll, you would see that I had clearly stated that there was no suggestion of baby NPCs, or intercourse. Read again, and use your brain to understand the mechanics that arise thereafter, I shouldn't have to spell everything out.
-
Still here I see. I have already made it clear that you are far too new to this to know what you are talking about, as is anyone that argues for 3rd person. I'm probably abandoning this thread, because it's depressing to see how low the average skill and intelligence level is of these new players. I leave you all with one suggestion, and I don't want to hear more of your uninformed nonsense until you try it. Play on a veteran/expert server for a day, with forced 1st person on. It is more immersive. It is more realistic. It requires greater skill and you will become a much better player very quickly, to the point where you will not need and NOT WANT 3rd person. It is fairer. It is more fun. Enough hot air, try it and learn kids.

I'm trying the x2 num - and it isn't toggled even though my controls have it set to be D: Doesn't work with snipers and maybe some vehicles. You can turn your head and look at your feet in the game too, it is called freelook, and in combination with 3rd person is an exploit, that is the primary reason we are calling to have it removed. A game will never give you the same perception as real life, but arma does it very well, just learn the controls, and the function of periphery dots. -

Petition to add the Mosin Nagant to Day Z
7-75 callaghan replied to Kophka's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Signed, so long as it remains appropriate to the lore. Lets get rid of all non-lore-friendly weapons, esp latest design US stuff, and replace it with Eastern European equipment.
