DayZ Team - Show You Appreciate Your Players by Fixing New Server Setup!!
klanana replied to klanana's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Is that talked about anywhere? And until that system is ready is the correct course of action still to use the contact page? I believe I read that they dont even check that anymore because it was so overloaded. If there is already a solution in the works... thats really great! But it would be nice to hear the best way to go about getting things running until then... since the main post is full of various people to email and contact. Giving any sort of time frame for how long it takes to be contacted/setup would be really considerate too - I mean I have a machine that I bought JUST for this game sitting empty... and those things aint free =( -
DayZ Team - Show You Appreciate Your Players by Fixing New Server Setup!!

I want to start by saying I know the guys who work on getting new servers up work their asses off, and I don't want this to come off as a bash on them. I am sure when the team was set up there were very few inquiries so sending a message through contact us got the job done. Clearly, the game has grown a smidge. And I feel like I am constantly seeing players asking for new servers... as well as server owners basically begging to be added. People want to play this game... people want to spend their money hosting servers for this game. Yet I read through the 21 page Want to host a DayZ Server? thread and get more and more discouraged. Some people have been waiting a week... two weeks... three weeks! With not even as much as a response that their message was received. And I can say as well that I have not heard anything from my inquiry via the website contact or the 3 different email addresses strewn throughout that thread. I think the only way I can describe how I feel when I see all that is disappointed. As a potential server owner who would be tacking an additional $50 a month onto my already high tf2 server load, sitting here day after day with no contact... no update... no 'Hey guys we're putting a hold on new servers for a bit because we are overloaded' has really turned me off from the entire game. If there are really as many inquiries as the thread suggests then I cant even fathom why you are still having people use the contact form to get going. I would imagine (with such strict servers specifications especially) that there would be at least a ticket system in place by this point. Instead... I have sent contact messages and emails to random email addresses. So on behalf of the players who love the game and are willing to pay out of their own pockets to run a server - Please do something to make this easier for everyone!! And a huge thanks to those poor people who have been working so hard to get our new servers going! -
DayZ should allow servers to be created at home

While waiting to hear back about getting a server approved the past couple days I have been reading a lot of this particular forum... and it's a bit obnoxious. Theres obviously a lot going on with this game and constant updates... I can actually see why they wouldnt want home servers at this point. Everyone needs to calm down and enjoy this game like a breath of fresh air. On the topic of DayZ servers though - I would think you guys would be flattered so many people want to host them and at least implement a bit more structure to the procedure to help people get set up faster. Compared to some of the other posts I have read people haven't heard anything in weeks... which was so discouraging I actually cancelled the box i bought for this game. Of course if I actually hear from someone before it's shut down I will reverse that... but IMO you should really at least have enough respect for those people who are shelling out cash every month to bring the game to more people. I mean we can't even kick people off our own servers... thats some DayZ dedication. =)
