I agree with this. There is just a couple problems. There are no set servers for one. I would love to see someone forced to stay on a server of thier choice or at least make it a daily timer. Once you select a server you are stuck for 24 hrs. At least that way the next day you can play with your idiot friend that picked the wrong one. Another problem is the loot system. I would LOVE to fight bandits. My luck sucks though. Should I just give up and let you or another group arm me because I have bad luck? No, if the game is going to be PvP based then the loot should be a whole hell of alot less random. Food/water rare? Perfect. a 1 in 100 chance at a good weapon and thats after you die 10 times trying to get to rare spawn locations? Thats an issue imo. The only people that will argue this point are the ones that where lucky enough to get the rare spawn or stocked up well before the mod became so popular. Another rather large problem that has to cause any anti bandit groups problems. How the hell do you tell who is a bandit? YOU CANT. See someone prone with a sniper rifle looking into cherno? Doesnt mean he is a bandit. He may just be spotting his friends in the town who are trying to find food/ammo/water ect. Why Rocket took out the diffrent look for bandits I dont know. Something needs to change though. Its pretty much impossible for the community to really do anything about it since you can change your name and look the same as everyone else if you are a bandit. Another issue I have is how little skill sniper rifles really take to use well. Now I havent used or found a sniper rifle. But after watching PUDDN stream for several hours its clear that sniper rifles are just to easy to hit with. Bullet dropoff? Please it doesnt really exist. Not nearly enough. Wind does not effect anything. My solution? Simply remove sniper rifles untill Rocket can find a way within the engine to add some skill to them. I'm sorry but there is NO skill when at 1k meters you can put your crosshair on a targets nugget and put a bullet through his eye. Do not need to have found a sniper to know thats a problem in itself. Its a good mod. It has a ton going for it. It also has a ton going against it. Untill Rocket can give the community the tools to fight the douchebag PKers it will continue to have problems. Even though the game isnt realistic in any sense I'll awnser the people who will say its not realistic to be able to tell one bandit from the next surviver. Thats not true. Over time word would get around from the lucky few who survive what the person looks like. Right now all I can do is assume if you have a sniper rifle or a camo suit that you are a bandit. All I can do is assume that guy comming around the corner is a bandit. Oh and one last issue. The debug thing. Why does it track murders/bandit kills? Its a pointless thing to track since it doesnt work plain and simple. Yesterday I managed to get out of a building and into a field of hay rolls after taking a couple AK shots. Bandaged, ate, ect and noticed the douchebag was following me. So we played peekaboo around they hay rolls for a bit. I was tryin to play it safe since all I had was a revolver. Long story short, the guy had shot me at least 5 times before I managed to sneak around behind him and put a bullet in his head. So I killed a bandit right? He shot me first and I defended myself. Nope it was a murder. Pointless to track that kinda thing if its broken. Edit: I do really like the mod. Hell I dont even mind people murdering me for my supplies instead of for sport. But I can not see myself or many others playing it for long if Rocket doesnt give us a way to at least identify bandits. I dont want to hear about the realism thing either. Its a really lame excuse to be a douchebag. The game is far from having realism in it. Ok, as much complaining as I have done this is just amazing. Thats why you read threads. There is probably at least 1 person smarter than you :) -
I can honestly say I have foun 2 friendlies in about a weeks playtime now. One guy I gave my gun to. He didnt shoot me in the back as I left. Another we stood still waiting for the other to shoot. I simply said I left some food/pepsi/ammo/ and a windchester up the steps and backed away. He thanked me and we went our seperate ways. I had left that stuff btw. No room in my inventory at the time. On the other side of that, the funniest one I had was running directly up to some idiot with a shotgun next to a barn. Told him I was down to 4k blood and was going to drop what little food/ammo I had for him. He ran off. I mean really, if I was going to shoot him I had more than ample chance. Ran back up to him and he just shot me. I laughed so hard. Of course then I got sniped as soon as I respawned, litterly as soon as I could see what was going on. Thats where this mod fails imo.

I'm not worried about it really. I will play for a while longer. I'm getting my $30 for arma2 out of this mod. But like so many others I will move on eventually. Not because its not a good mod. It is. But because of people killing you for no reason. I dont mind being shot for my supplies. Do I have a gun? There is a good chance I have other supplies you may need. Dont have a gun? Probably dont have much more than a can of beans and a pepsi on me if that. My problem is the PKing for no reason with no real way to identify thoes people and/or fight back. The loot system doesnt support fairness in that way. I may actually make it into a military complex or downed chopper 1 out of every 10 lifes without being sniped. Then I have a really low chance of actually getting a top end weapon. If I'm lucky awesome. But more often than not you/I wont be lucky. I've seen claims from people with 50-100hrs + logged and still havent found one of the higher grade weapons. THAT is my issue with zday and THAT is why I and many others will stop playing leaving the game empty except for the few griefers. Then they will leave because they no longer have the advantage over others. In an interview with TB I believe Rocket said he expected the mod to peak at 12k players. Well Rocket you will be lucky to have 2k players in the next 6 months if nothing changes. Which is fine if thats what you want. The HC asshole griefers that got beat up one to many times in highschool need thier games to!

Gah I forgot about the hunting knife.
-
What? I don't get it. Why isn't that fair? If you want you can do that too. But as someone else said ... in most cases it's trolling. If you fortify your position i could ... not saying i would ... i could hop on another server get behind you and hop back onto the server. The game itself simply isnt fair. I wont argue if thats a good thing or bad. But this IS a game. When a game has random, rare loot its unfair. As unlikely as it is a person could put 100 hours into the game and never find a gun, or a toolbox, or a hunting knife, or a box of matches. How is that fair? Like I said, unlikely but it COULD happen and like I also said, I wont argue if thats good or bad. Being a HC zombie simulator it should be unfair imo within reason.

Bad argument. Is it realistic for everyone to be able to snipe from 1000+ meters? Nope. VERRY few people in the WORLD have that skill. I'm pretty sure the jackass sitting behind his computer thinkin he is cool for getting a lucky drop cant make that shot irl. Oh and PLEASE come back with "this isnt real life". That would be hilarious. I'm torn on the issue though. On one hand if you need supplies and you see an easy target then of course you are going to kill them. On the flip side of that to many people do it just to be fucking assholes and have no intention of looting thier kill. I wish there was a way to perma ban thoes douchebags. I'm not smart enough to figure it out though. And dont give me the "well there would be douchebags like that irl to". Yea, there would. But we dont respawn and the ammo doesnt respawn irl either. Fact is they ruin the experience. I say that because its a rampant problem right now. And without a deterent, not just against server hopping but against sport hunting the more popular it gets the worse it will get untill players that want to play the mod for what it was designed for will simply stop playing. If you want to call me a carebear fine. It really doesnt bother me. Its a game and I dont need to be an asshole to feel good about myself. But I think if everyone was honest with themself, unless you are one of the assholes, you will agree its a problem.

Depending on what your goals are the best things to come by are a water bottle, axe, box of matches and an axe. With thoes 3 things you can probably never, ever die again with a small amount of luck. Granted you will not really be playing the game at that point lol. As far as food goes if you have the ammo find a town in the middle of nowhere, hope people dont show up and kill some zombies. Either I'm lucky or people dont give zombies enough credit as a quickfix to food/pop at the cost of a few rounds of ammo. Again, its a quick fix since ammo does run out. But it may get you through till you find a box of matches.
-
No, the dumbass is the one trying to buy it. You are also a dumbass for saying it takes a long time to find. Its all random. I may never find it and the person who spawns loot right after me, being thier first time playing could find it.
-
I'm assuming hospitals are the buildings with a glass front with the med sign on them that you cant actually enter? Thats all I have been able to find and only once did I find a blood pack. I've been specifically spending time/lifes running through major cities looking for morphine so I know where to find it and in about 15hrs I have not found a single one. I refuse to look at a map other than the one you can find but it would be nice to know im looking in the right spots just having crappy luck.
-
Its not the same because not every dick with a sniper rifle would be camping people for sport. Not everyone would have access to a sniper rifle or be able to shoot it like a sharpshooter. At the most, most people would have handguns, shotguns, midranged scoped midpower rifles used for hunting. My point being is you cant only use "half realism" as an excuse to hunt people for sport. If you are killing people because you actually NEED there items then fine. If there was only a couple people per server who are "evil" enough to kill for sport, fine. That is real. Hunting people for sport by such a large amount of people is not what a zombie survival fps is really about. Its not "carebearish" to say thats ruining new players experiences either. Someone like me wants to experience the game how Rocket intended. Not looking up guides or useing a map on the internet that says "go here, here, and here for phat loot" like most of you supossed "hardcore" people did. No, for thoes of us that want the hardcore experience its wandering around for hours, days, even weeks struggling to survive. We should be worried more about avoiding Zeds than spending an hour in town trying to avoid other players just to get sniped running to a treeline when leaving town. I know it sounds like I am whining but I'm honestly not. There is plenty this mod needs fixed and bandits who think they are "hardcore" by killing unarmed or non threatening survivors from 1k meters out are a small problem overall. Randomly breaking your leg for no aparent reason is abigger issue imo. Barbwire instantly killing you when you try to get over it is another bigger issue. But I think most of us are having alot of fun regardless. I may rage at my screen when I fall over dead in the middle of a field while tryin to haul ass to a treeline. I may stop playing for a night when i get sniped and lay there for 30s unable to move and the guy never comes to finish me off and loot me. But I will come back. Because its fun and odds are that jackass with the sniper rifle will have moved on or even decided he needs to go back to a FPS where killing people randomly is intended and the game mechanics reward it.

It can also kill you instantly when trying to get over it as I found out last night. Was my best survival run yet, had okay guns, food, water, ect. Was night and I figured I would scavenge for better guns or a rare drop. Tried to "V" over barb wire and died instantly. Was actually really pissed. Then I remembered it was alpha and it made alittle more sense than breaking my leg walking up a small hill on my 3rd or 4th life lol.

I don't get people who think you have to be better than someone else to be able to criticize them. Like, I can say your shit tastes awful. Then you respond with "well lets see you shit some strawberry icecream!" Srsly. You don't have to be great cook to be able to taste when food tastes bad or good. I dont see why someone who may not like something has to try and insult them like a immature asshole. You didnt criticize him at all. What did you offer that he did poorly? Nothing at all. You just ran your mouth like a little bitch and offered no insight as to why it was bad.

I've been killed by people camping high loot areas. Been killed by people randomly running around. Even had someone try to axe me in the back while I was looting. Only once have I shot first and asked questions later. Luckily I had a markov so giving him a bandage fixed that mistake. I had been killed by a bandit and I wanted my revenge since I spawned close to where it happened. That guy was gone and almost smoked an innocent player lol. Anyway he was unarmed so I gave him my gun. Off I went expecting to get shot in the back. Nope he thanked me, said he understood, and we went our seperate ways. Good people are out there. There are only a couple reasons I will shoot someone instantly. If I see you before you see me in a window, roof, or tower and you have a scoped rifle or sniper. Your dead. I have no reason not to assume you are there to simply snipe people for fun. If I hear someone in the same building I will say something over voip and direct chat, if you dont reply I have no reason to trust you and I will hunt you down to protect myself. And lastly if you shoot at me or try to axe me even by mistake. It may have been a mistake, I accidently did it. But you die easy enough if I get the chance to fire back I'm going to. I dont have time to let you tell me it was a mistake.

[Guide] Pro Tips for Starting Out
xenogias replied to [email protected]'s topic in New Player Discussion
I found this usefull. I have a pretty good grasp on the game and though I refuse to use the maps online so I'm still struggling finding places a couple tips here definitly will help.
