  1. I actually do agree with you, but I believe there should be greater rewards for helping other players. Maybe a changed skin for players who were really good or some other benefit. I like when skins are all the same so you never know who you can trust or not and I like the pvp. On the other hand there might be a little too much pvp. Occasionally I like to have fun interactions with other players where we can work together, but the only place you can really expect to find situations of comradeship are on private servers.

Considering what's not working on DayZ

I agree with you and think the real solution to your problem is just more zombies. Really if you have zombies wandering around the entire world so that you know there is no completely safe location would certainly hop up the intensity. I personally believe running into the woods should be just as scary, if not scarier than running into a city instead of it turning into a magical land of safety. Only time will tell though with the standalone release and Rocket certainly has hinted on improving these points.
  3. Will we be getting any news on game mechanics soon? Mostly I would just like to know if we'll still have to worry about opening a door and apparently breaking our faces, randomly forgetting how to climb a ladder halfway up, those finicky doorways, or breaking legs from falling an inch.
  4. I would be all for adding in more common civilian weapons. Maybe some pump action 12 gauges, a couple revolver variations, some different 9mm pistols, or even a muzzleloading rifle. Coming from a mostly rural area myself, I know a place like Chernarus would have an abundance of every kind of standard hunting weapon. Besides adding new weapons I feel that weapons in general should all have a boost to their power in the sense of realism. I may have heard though that this could be due to weapons accidentally being nerfed.
  5. Just out of curiosity will any short clips be put up before release showcasing some of the features added to the standalone?

    The "Zombie" Virus and You.

I really like the idea, but just in case it's too complicated too add into the game what if the already added system for getting sick could be used to show infection with a random chance of being infected added in the more you get hit, being around infected players, whatever. I'd say make this chance for infection very low and also have the chance of finding some kind of cure for it really low too. I'd say a rare chance of infection just so it doesn't get too annoying like breaking your legs all the time did.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

I'm cool with whenever this standalone goes down. Now that Rocket has the ability to basically put whatever he wants to into the game I'm much more excited for DayZ. It is always hard to wait for something you're looking forward to, but all this crying really isn't going to do anything except maybe annoy the team. Let's all just chill out and let the magic happen.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

Did nobody see that the game, similar to minecraft, will be heavily discounted if you buy it in alpha? Minecraft was 5 bucks if you got it at the start and honestly if you have a job that's less than an hour's pay. It's no big deal at all.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

I was just wondering how much you were going to keep models from the original mod in the standalone. Were you planning on using the same survivor skin which is just taken from the PMC expansion or were you planning on adjusting it a little for a more custom survivor? The same with other skins.
  10. Everything seems to be running good, but I've had a lot of problems with items being eaten. Packs eating items still when not enough room, animals eating their own meat upon being gutted, and also I've had some items showing up that aren't really there. It might just be a glitched item showing up on multiple floors though as in one of the firehouses I kept seeing an alice pack on the same spot on every floor, but when attempting to pick it up, it was never there. I've also seen guns with ammo in houses that aren't really there when you go to loot.
  11. Before DayZ I liked to play the Chernarus Apocalypse mod and some of the undead mod. It only occurred to me today that if DayZ could learn from some of the features and especially how the zombies react in these other mods it could really improve overall experience. Honestly the zombies aren't really that scary or that big of a deal anymore. You see them all the time, they're easy to avoid if you know what you're doing, and you only have to watch out for them if you are near buildings. Zombies are the main feature of DayZ and they should be terrifying. Like walking through the woods of Chernarus worried because you know the zombies can be anywhere. Another big thing that can be improved is the sounds. These other mods did a great job hearing the zombies moans echoing through the woods and buildings. One feature I really enjoyed from the undead mod was whenever being taken down by zombies, your character would let loose with a blood curdling scream. This makes more sense when you think about it. Someone being mauled by zombie isn't just going to silently fall down. They sure as hell are going to be screaming about it. That would be interesting roaming the map hearing the screams of dying players. It would greatly improve the atmosphere. Any thoughts on this? I forgot to mention in Chernarus Apocalypse it was neat that you could find random situations located around, like you could see a place where a car swerved into a tree and see the bodies of the people who died in the crash, or maybe more dead/eaten bodies found around buildings. Small little situations really add to the game.
  12. The flare gun should definitely be damaging too or if you could light people/zombies on fire. It would be hilarious to sneak up behind someone and shoot them with a flare. Then again maybe I'm just a sadist...

    Greater use of shock?

I'm a little confused. Are you saying you want a suppression effect or are you confusing physical with emotional shock? The kind of shock in the game is physical when your body has taken heavy physical trauma basically your body gets confused and starts shutting down which makes things worse. Heavy physical trauma as in getting shot a bunch of times or horribly mauled by zombies.

I like where you're going with this. I really wouldn't mind if the zombies were slowed down, but required a head shot or very heavy body damage to kill. I always wondered if he slowed them down maybe it would help him find and fix all the glitching around easier. Also it might decrease lag some to add in more zombies.

DayZ - ACE (No CoD Kiddie Comments)

This is exactly what I would like to see! Great idea! First though zombies really really need to be worked on.

Basically what flashhawk was saying. The game is called Day "Z" for crying out loud. I just feel a lot of work should be focused on the zombies to make it more about worrying how you're going to survive with these zombies everywhere 90% instead of finding the best loot to go kill every other player.

Why wouldn't you want zombies as a bigger threat? The more threat from zombies the less pvp there is. I understand there is a lot of issues with the engine' date=' but at this point the glitchy, physics defying zombies really give me much of a reason to worry about them. [/quote'] actually i think the pvp wont decrease.. Concur. So long as players are walking loot boxes, bandits will exist. So long as fear and uncertainty exist, jumpy, shooty-on-sighty noobs will exist. Perhaps in some situations, players will worry a bit from aggro in cities, but otherwise, PvP is a fact of life that I don't anything will get rid of short of making this a singleplayer game... I believe it will decrease pvp. My rationale is when you have to worry more about zombies. You actually have to think before you shoot. Not that players won't want to kill each other as much, but they'll have to weight between the chance for more loot, and alerting an entire city of zombies to their location. If there's more zombies and random spawn points you don't have the safety you had before. You can't just take shots from out in the woods and know you'll be perfectly fine. If there's that constant threat of zombies I feel it will decrease the incidents of shooting on sight and increase communication even if it is just to lure a player to another place to shoot.

    Scarier Zombies/Other Mods

This is some of the stuff I was looking for from people. In the other mods I mentioned there actually were ghillie zombies that would pop up in tall grass. It just makes sense from how they're playing things that when the military groups were sent into Chernarus that they obviously were overrun, but wouldn't some of them be zombified? I know there is a soldier skin already, but it would be cool to see maybe some British or American soldiers who got turned in the mix.
  20. Honestly the splint would be a much better fix than morphine

    Scarier Zombies/Other Mods

Exactly! More unpredictable zombie spawning, more sounds, and better zombie movement would really improve this game. Like I said before if any of you have played the Chernarus Apocalypse, it's a fun game to play on the side with friends and they really nailed the whole zombie apocalypse atmosphere. If you could somehow combine the two games you would have perfection.
  22. This is an idea I kept wondering why nobody else had thought of haha. I don't think the tranquilizer darts, tazers and stuff would be good. I was thinking have a button where when your within a certain distance of another player knocks them down first, like dazed, then you have to follow through to knock them out. So you'd have to hit them twice to make sure they're down good.

    Managing Ammo

I hadn't seen any threads on this, but if there are I apologize. I think it would really help the game if instead of just finding magazines you could actually find ammo cases or boxes of shells. Honestly the double barrel shotgun is useless when the only ammo you can find for it is 2 shots. Realistically when you buy shotgun ammunition you get a box full of about 25 shells or so. To balance this system it could be implemented where you don't always find full ammo cases just like water or jerry cans. There could be a random system to tell you how much ammunition is found inside the case and cases could also be used to store any ammunition found. Another suggestion could be to make clips and magazines a little more rare to find in comparison with the ammunition so the same clips can be reused with the ammo you find. This is just a suggestion I have to help add more realism and balance some of the weapons. If anyone has any suggestions or opinions towards this I would be glad to hear from you.
