Seconds are a lot different from 12-18 hours like some are suggesting. DayZ isn't a "one life until end of mission" sort of game like CS, it's a constant respawn like all the rest. A minute or two even isn't a bad thing, gives me a chance to pee or go have a smoke. Half a day or more respawn punishment, for a game with an average player life expectancy of less than 30 minutes? Insane. -
First step should be in this direction...

Simply by shooting a gun you risk aggro. It's already in the game. Just need about 2000 more zombies on each server to bring it back to a zombie apocalypse. -

I can't believe people actually think some sort of many hour re-spawn timer would be beneficial. Apply that to any other game you play and ask your self if it would work. BF3? CoD? EVE? WoW? No one would play it, except for those that found a way to exploit it (sooner or later someone would). -

Did it ever occur to anyone that maybe, just maybe, when this mod finally gets out of Alpha that there might be a back story involved that explains things like American weapons? Maybe the Russian locale is just a place holder for something *else* down the road? I don't know any more than the rest of you except that I feel if the devs took the time to include custom models for American weapons there might be a damn good reason for it. (And yeah, melee weapons are very possible, just not implemented yet.)

Thanks! I would most DEFINITELY like to see what happens! Think about all the threads you've read (or try to imagine how many I've read) where whiners are going on an on and ON about tent that, M107 this, vehicle blah, bandit skin blech, "fuck! the guy I had alive for two weeks just died cause of ", etc. All of that, every bit of that, blows away like dust in the wind when a server has 2000+ zombies scattered *all over the map* and you are fucking lucky to even live a single hour, much less a single day or week. This isn't an MMO. Think arguments about sniping l33t tryhards at the NW airfield mean shit when they are the first to encounter wave after wave of zed wanting to eat their brains? The fact that so many players claim "fuck the coast, go north" says to me anyway that the rest of the map simply isn't tough enough. Even that asshole that you *know* has a reputation for slaughtering the newly spawned on the beaches might be your best friend if you are holed up in an apartment building in Cherno with the whole rest of the population (zombies) wanting to come in. Player attitudes, even what's "important" enough to post here, changes drastically when the PVP component of this game is shoved in the back seat of the station wagon because the zombies are *finally* THAT fucking bad. Might be difficult to implement, especially since it would require custom animations and all to "look right" but certainly no more difficult to code than melee weapons or zombies in the woods, I wouldn't think.

The deal is that DayZ didn't USED to have bandit skins, they were tried (it IS an Alpha) because many players felt that uncontrolled PVP was a problem. That's why they were there, as a possible solution to a perceived problem. They might have been an improvement but they weren't the perfect solution so now they are removed again. We are back at square one. Instead of bitching about what's wrong with the system (bandit skins and no bandit skins) why don't people try suggesting something that *hasn't* been tried before instead? -
Not a bad idea except that the lead dev himself has been quoted as saying "they are not dead".

Yup, weapons still need tweaks. The Ruger 10/22 ins't just what I would like to see in game, it's also my #1 pick for a survival weapon in any sort of real apocalypse/disaster scenario (especially if you can still find 30 round banana clips for it).

This isn't the place for this. Lots of people are having problems with the sex change. Hopefully it will be worked out in the next patch.

Yeah, I know. I keep hoping rocket will post something resembling a FAQ letting his players know where the hell this game is going but... He's said in other threads that "they are not dead". They are not the classic form of zombies, they aren't dead and back to life, and the players are more or less only existing because they are *immune* to the infection.

There wouldn't be any "carebears" or "elitist assholes" or anything... IF this were *truly* a zombie apocalypse instead of some kind of fucked up zoo tour with guns. All that secondary bullshit goes away like flipping on the windshield washers in a cloud of locusts... You can see again. Who gives a fuck if player A killed five guys in the last minute on the beach... when you have a hundred zombies on your ass. You either team up or die alone, it's YOUR choice. Fuck loads more zombies (rocket said 3000 should be possible) and NO where safe to go (that's zombies in the woods and on the roads for you guys that don't get it.) IS the answer. -
Wrong. The "myth" about coke and caffeine too complicated (and well financed) to say one way or the other. Caffeine is actually a diuretic (making you pee more) which unless replenished depletes the body of electrolytes needed to maintain proper hydration. Caffeine IS a diuretic but it takes a fair amount before dehydration becomes a concern. In a nutshell if you tried to live on coke alone you might survive, given you had enough of it, but your body would never be as properly hydrated as with water and a balanced diet. Lady Kyrah is right, the sugar in a can of non-diet soda is just empty carbs that might give you a short boost in energy but also requires your body to have more hydration to process it. The conclusion, if you had read the rest of that post, seems to be that the devs want to get everything *else* working first, before they think about tinkering with second party addons.

I like it! See if you can find the actual rate of blood regeneration vs. without the drug (since the human body already reproduces blood on it's own... well... in reality anyway.)
