That's part of the game. Not always being able to join up or find your friends is very realistic. It forces you into an even deeper level of survival. More often than not, if I'm trying to meet up with friends I end up grouping up with total strangers long before my friends and I can regroup. Keeps the player dynamics alive and uncertain. This game is, above all else, about YOUR personal survival.

The problem is is that it's not always about getting shot... This tactic/exploit has been used to avoid zombie hordes too.

Hey man, nothing wrong with that. Like I said, it is a clever concept and I've never seen that vid before (or anything quite like it) but in the end it's simply making a height field. There are several apps, a couple of them free, that will let you paint high/low with your mouse that achieves the same thing. You can actually do the same thing with Photoshop, GIMP or even MS Paint. Fine tuning of the terrain can be done in first person using the BIS tool called "buldozer" (yeah, with one "L"). When it comes to Arma the height field is actually probably one of the easier things to get done. Placement of buildings, roads, trees, fences, power lines, smoothing the terrain, applying textures to the terrain, etc. is where it gets time consuming.

Yeah, just imagine what would happen if Steam decided to put A2:CO on sale and all those players that have been sitting on the fence decided to jump in. We need like 100 more servers now!

Spending more time clicking on full servers with the hopes that a slot will open up than I actually get to play. Holy crap, imagine what would happen if Steam decided to put A2:CO on sale.

Heh, that's very clever. That's also basically just a nifty, expensive method of doing what all mappers do now (at least for Arma based games), generating a height field with a water level. Now realistic erosion would be helpful and a method of placing flora based on elevation and water, etc.

I'd like to see it too IF the back story keeps the mod placed in a post-soviet country! There is supposedly a back story that hasn't been released yet. If it puts the mod in south america or something then all bets are off.

You DO realize that rocket works for BIS, right? Seeing a DLC for Arma3, and maybe official support from the company (how cool would it be to get paid for doing exactly what you wanted to do in the first place?) would benefit both parties. Mind you, the engine is one thing. To generate all the game assets for an engine is huge investment of time and resources. That's why mods tend to work out better than most stand-alone indie endeavors. Lastly, not everyone was in love with Arma before they bought it for this mod... but some of them might be once they explore everything else that comes with it.
