Everyone is a bandit on Namalsk
scouski replied to Rick the Survivor's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Generally, people in groups aren't friendly because they're using a third party application for communication. Although, I have come across quite a few friendly survivors in Namalsk, most of them being unarmed.. quite a lot of the PVP is just out of fear of being shot themselves. Like Kay said, it's probably because of the abundance of military loot on Namalsk, not to mention food and other supplies such as match boxes being pretty rare. -
Yes.

If you're referring to what the QN crew do, they're not weekly events. Kai said the next event will most probably be on the stand alone sometime in december/january.

Fear not, this is not a rant. I would have posted this in the bug reports forum but it appears it's just on my end. Firstly, I remember a while back when the brightness and gamma were patched so you could no longer adjust them for an advantage during night play. My brightness and gamma are still adjustable post patch. Secondly, the recent 1.7.3 patch that disables the abort button during combat is not disabled for me. I do not use either of these as they ruin the experience. I'm curious as to why these things are not patched for me. Is anyone else having this problem and what could the problem be?

2 Problems: Brightness/Gamma & Combat/Abort
scouski replied to scouski's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That beta patch is being used by pretty much every server you look for, not to mention the brightness & gamma problem I'm having was fixed in a way earlier beta patch that the current one I'm using. -

I'm pretty sure it's not that. I'm using DayZ commander and it's worked fine so far. Here's a screenshot of Commander; up to date as you can see. As far as I know you can't actually play on a server without the same patch. -
I had this problem last night. DayZ commander says the server has the correct version but it does not. Best bet would be to filter search "1.7.3".

DayZ Namalsk: Why ER7 is too much
scouski replied to CookieKing's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's what that noise is?! I've heard it a couple times since playing on Namalsk, thought it was explosions. -
I felt the need to share this wealth :/

Lmao, the sound of heads bouncing off the interior is funny. -
This is getting out of hand...

I think maybe he/she is referring to the amount of servers that are locked? -
What kind of landscape would you like to see in a DayZ stand alone game?
scouski posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A Brief Intro... Hello, my name is Deda. This would be my first thread and one I hope can be discussed in a civil manner without too many people raging at each other. This is less of a suggestion of ideas thread on my part, but more so something I'd like to see discussed by everyone. I've been watching the many interviews that Rocket has participated in these past few weeks and one question that I've been wanting to hear answered and explored is one I have heard nothing of; What kind of landscape would you like to be the setting of a DayZ stand alone game? Feel absolutely free to criticize, suggest ideas and any improvements or mistakes I may have made in writing. Potential Settings & Possible Limitations Fiction or Non-Fictional setting? (by fictional I don't mean a WoW or Guild Wars design style) Fictional Setting Pros: Developers/Designers can be creative Viewer input... Cons: A less authentic feel Viewer input... Non-Fictional Setting Pros: Authentic experience Viewer input... Cons: Less room to be creative Viewer input... Landscapes? (Non-Fiction) Western European Eastern European North America South America A mixture of all settings? Viewer input... A Question Of Potential.. I know we'd all love huge cities with all enterable buildings, but I'm pretty sure there are some limitations. As far as how densely populated the setting should be with industrial and residential buildings, what is the potential capacity? Who knows. I guess only Rocket could answer that himself, but feel free to weigh in on this. -

I'd love a HUGE in-game map but to put into perspective.. London is approximately 1700 sq km; Chernarus is like 225 sq km. -
Poll re Telepathic/Psychic exploit. Please read the example before answering question!
scouski replied to JerFeelgood's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Obviously not an exploit but if Rocket says he wants authenticity he will have to restrict communications to in-game only.. IN MY OPINION. -

I hope the stand alone takes on an in-game voice chat only if he is aiming for authenticity.. But there is always 'that discussion' of user friendly? (If I'm not mistaken? I'm rather drunk..) -

In a way I hope Rocket uses the Arma 3 engine; it looks good thus far and like he said it is a very unique engine. Maybe he will modify it heavily, who knows? One can only hope. -
Or instead; How would the zombies become stronger? ;)
-
The ammo bug is still a problem though. Reloading a new magazine before the previous is empty will refill it when you log out and back in.
-
Maybe Rocket intended to do this and not added to patch notes. I recall him saying a while back he added a feature he didn't add to patch notes were infected could hear you eating and drinking. I'd actually like to see this more often if it is true. How many people would be able to log onto a forum in a zombie apocalypse and find out how many shots it takes to put them down.

scouski replied to scouski's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Actually, Rocket has been talking about a stand alone game, I'm sure if he was planning to use the same map as either Arma 2 or 3 it would then be classed as some sort of expansion of Arma and not a stand alone product (i.e the product stands alone.. from any other product..) Even if this was the case, this is merely a discussion and no suggestions where actually made in the OP. -

I was thinking this whilst starting the thread. The only problem with this is it may remove some of the immersion of going to and from different locations. A sense of travel makes reaching your destination seem like an achievement if you survive it. Although, I guess that is the only option to include so many big cities without slaughtering resources. -
I do recall rocket saying he wanted to expand the scale of DayZ from the current 225km(?) of Chernarus to something like 400km if I'm not wrong. The bigger the better.

I do quite like the eastern European setting myself, and as previously mentioned some sort of changing seasons feature would be brutally satisfying, especially them cold eastern European winters... *burrrrr* I also like the idea of an English countryside or something similar, like a couple of the scenes from 28 Days/Weeks Later. -
Oh look, ROLEPLAY. I must immediately refer to these people as fat, nerdy virgins. Bcuz my life rulz. :dodgy: Chill out people, seriously.

Go to >> http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php << Click the left link in the green bar to download latest patch. Extract the files using a program such as '7-zip'. Run the installer and you're done.

For those needing a password for the Arma 2 Beta patch, make sure you're clicking the correct link. The green bar at the top of the screen, left link (not right).
