Devblog update: Where is the Standalone?
Gordon Axeman replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Very nice. Though the picture shows that the loot classes need working upon. Spawning a hatchet on a table is a bit stupid. -
I could agree with the map as beginner gear. But a weapon? Never. It gives you a real draft when you try to slide into a city/barn/dock to find something to defend yourself.
-
Nice, but the loot piles are a real mess. We need a chance fore loot piles to spawn primary ammo.

Sry for double post

That was a long time ago, when we were still given Mak's at start. I was running to Elektro. Going into another barn looting, I saw a survivor lying in front of me (I was at his back). I got frightened as hell and unloaded a whole clip into his body, while he saw me and got up, trying to do q/e with the last bullet hitting his body... It was so bitterful.

Spawn in a toilet. (unfixed!) -
Hello everyone. Today I was struck by an idea: why not to implement cats along with dogs? As animals seem not to be affected by the virus, and dogs are planned already, this seems legit IMO. Cats are tamed by fish or meat (my cat IRL loves raw meat a lot). They can sense someone's presense 60m around. When they sense someone, they make a hissing sound. When hungry/thirsty - they meow. As the cats have very good vision, they can spot people/animals/zeds in the distance. When they do so, they will begin sticking very closely to you and quietly hiss. They don't lose this ability at night. Also they can hunt small game like rabbits and chickens for you. The idea is still very rough. Thoughts?

Looks like all of u want cats to be A F$KING ZOMBIE ALARM. Nice to imagine a camper in Elektro, when suddenly a cat meows behind him.

is this gun legit (aks-74u UN Kobra) on namalsk
Gordon Axeman replied to shadey477's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes, it is. It spawns naturally on every Namalsk server. -
The purpose of cats in my suggestion is not to hurt, but being a support.

It seems like the wave of hacking is fading. I see less and less. In autumn 2012 you could maximum play an hour. For now I played for hours in public hives and haven't experienced any problems. The only use of private hives for me is to play custom maps like Namalsk/Taviana. I don't like private hives, especially whitelisted ones, because on most of these: -It's nearly impossile to be a bandit. Kill someone and the raged friendly ass cries in side chat that %username% is a bandit. 3/4 of the server begin humting you then. -Too many weapons, especially in Chernarus. Stupid additions like more military bases and wrecks. -Admin abuse and clan privileges.

In a week all the mice would be either dead or hiding in the fields. I don't think they will scavenge cities. And a cat will be glad to come to anyone who feeds it and gives some warmth/shelter. If I were in a survival situation I would definitely pick a cat. These animals can save you from insanity and give some heat. Also, a man may put a cat in his backpack for it to avoid being hit, or even tie some foliage to him to make a ghillie cat xD. The possibilities have no borders, except human creativity.

The dumbest/funniest things you've seen in DayZ?
Gordon Axeman replied to deceitfulburger's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Was playing in Chernarus today. I was running along the road to Elektro, when someone fires his Lee at me. I stand still (unarmed). Then I see a guy that is aiming at me from 41m (the tag said so). He shot and missed. I begin laughing. He shots again, and misses, while I'm standing still. Killed me from the 3rd shot. Lmao -
I can't understand how it's possible, someone explain me.

How soon is he getting there? ;)

A not-announcement announcement for the forums!

It happened. Thank you man. -
Should Heli Crash Sites be marked on the Map?
Gordon Axeman replied to klesh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Imagine playing minecraft and finding a chest full of diamonds a kilometer away from the spawn, with a tunnel leading to it. Now the only thing you shall do to get the best loot is run and maybe shoot some guys. Also the guys with cars will still have advantage then. The changes made to fix this are nullified by this. -
I haven't said that they MUST do something. You are right, I have paid nothing for the SA. But I said that if rocket doesn't want success, he may feel free to don't give a damn about us. He develops the game the right way, here I agree too. I'm talking about poorness of rocket's community interaction system. A message to everybody. Stop defending rocket. In Russia we have a good proverb: "If you called urself a mushroom - get into the basket." He is a human, right, but we are too. He knew what kind of shit he is coming into, so all this storm now is a logical ending of his announcements. He did some wrong steps, not in developing but in announcing things. Though he and the team deserves respect for their work. Not any kind of order but my IMHO.

What is your Character's D&D alignment?
Gordon Axeman replied to Robert-_-Frost's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Neutral evil. -
Not ethereal at all. I'm talking about rocket used to listen to people, answer their questions etc. That was nice to see, because the community was willing to help devs in making a great mod (it was time when the SA wasn't even thought of). They read bug reports, suggestions and answering some questions, sometimes even starting discussions with the players. I don't know you so maybe you thought of some kind of magic. We're not paparazzis, we're potential customers. It's still important for many people to know that devs think of them and make the game FOR THEM, not for their own pleasure. They have little obligations, but they still should do them. Of course, if rocket doesn't want his game to be successful - let him do what he wants and don't give a damn about people in here. He missed the deadline, while he had given so much promises... Nobody needs deep excuses and bowing - just a couple words like "We missed, but we don't surrender. While it was impossible, it helped us to advance further. We will keep you all updated". THAT IS ENOUGH. Chill out you rocket fanboy.
-
Looks like people need news just to prove that the dev team isn't dead. I myself would be glad to see it too. To see that the connection that we saw during the mod times isn't lost. It was one of the most pleasing things in DayZ - that you could post something and it could be seen. About the delay. It was clear from the very beginning as no game is made from scratch in such a short time. The deadline was used to keep the community, to give us a hope so we don't go away because nothing is known. But looks like rocket has even believed himself and hasn't got a plan what to do now. He is getting torn apart, because it's very hard to predict how ppl will react on any tweet now. It needs decent planning so I think that's what he is doing now.
