Yep, but there is a problem: Trains will be captured by large clans or simply left, because rebuilding several power stations and the train itself... Is it worth it? Only if you will collect payment from the passengers... but they will most likely pay you lead, and the fresh spawns have nothing to pay at all.

New vehicle idea [PLEASE CLOSE]
Gordon Axeman replied to Gordon Axeman's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Thats why I put a standalone tag into the topic. Bulldozer takes damage from breaking stuff. Now you can just dupe over9000 scrap metal and break everything, periodically getting out of the car to repair it. When the duping is fixed, you'll count it better to preserve the body hp for really tough situations. -
I think that such a wipe is only possible in the standalone when a working anti-cheat replaces this lazy Battlecrap.

Suggestion about having delusions.

Maybe there should be a meter that is about sociality? The less time you spend with others, the more psycho you are :) May decrease also from zombie attacks. I know thats a bit of sims but... -
STANDALONE SUGGESTION Edits will be done if new ideas occur. For now amount of time you' ve survived is just a stat. Nothing more. I thought about how to use this and now here is a solution. I suggest a training system. For example, the more you run, the higher becomes your endurance (you can run more without exhaustion). It is introduced in: 1) Running. The more you run, the longer you can run without exhaustion. 2) Shooting. The more you shoot a current weapon, the more skillful your char becomes in shooting it. It gives you an accuracy bonus and makes reloading quicker. Also lowers the recoil. IMHO, sniper rifles should not be buffed. (This is for you to decide) 3) Driving. The more you drive, the smoother is the steering (you don't lose agility along with this). 4) Repairing (optional, i dunno about its necessarity). If you do lots of repair, parts of car will be better installed and buff the car with: Hull - harder to break body (more body "hp") Wheels - speed bonus, harder to break down competely (tires do not become harder to pop) Engine - speed bonus Fueltank - less fuel consumed 5) Hunting - you get more steaks from gutting 6) Medic - it takes less time to perform medical operations. These features will be bound to your current char. If you die the skills are rolled back to default. This is not gonna give you PvP advantages, on the contary, it will boost roleplay. Also the skills are invisible - no levels, no "talent" points. This will fit DayZ perfectly - realistic, easy system, which helps you to survive, and not to deathmatch. The life will be even more valuable. What do you think? Edit: Got another idea. I read a topic about spawn variety (military, residential, hunter, etc.) So if it's implemented in-game, maybe various spawns should have different skill sets? P.S. This is a rough conception, your additions and ideas are welcome. Please give constructive feedback, comments like "You are a moron, your idea is shit" are not welcome.

Spectate Mode ~ Anti-Hackers
Gordon Axeman replied to CerebralZombie (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Ok, one stays spectating, and his buddies play. So that one can easily coordinate them via Skype/TS/any VOIP shit. -
I don't expect miracles anymore, I just wait for the standalone.

People? -
God damn wall of text. Give it some structure and maybe ill try to read it.
-
Maybe just instakill players if they become bandits automatically? Lol.

This mechanics was suggested many times, but this is not the best implementation. There were ideas about empowering gas stations to get access to the fuel pumps, along with making gas in the tanks non-infinite. Also a good idea about empowering the radio towers to communicate with people. Shortly, this idea should be implemented, but the building part is a bad idea. It needs to be more complicated, for example an entrance to a secret lab, and afterwards tons of stuff can be done...

Lol, this has no benefits, even is the loot is superb. Trolls can stock on food, get inside and wait for such teams. You will have to encounter many players and zeds (its a city) In 8 hours everything begins again. It is not worth it.

I say yes, but the knockout should be longer and darts should not vary. About 3 mins is okay.

Training over time (Character skilling)
Gordon Axeman replied to Gordon Axeman's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I thought about anti-grinding. And this is what I think: 1) Running. Your char should exhaust much faster and require more food. For now we can run for hours through heavy forests without even getting slower, only stopping to eat and drink. There should be a limit, for example after 15-20 mins you should begin slowing down and if you don't stop, you'll collapse in some time. After that to get up an extra portion of water and some rest is required. 2) Shooting. Ammo should be much more valuable. Shooting at nothing will give you REALLY SMALL xp. Shooting at animals - higher, at zeds - high and at players high too. About more grinding variants: players should scare animals and they should run away. Zeds must pose much more of a threat. Many players requested that and I agree with them completely. I dunno how it has to be done properly - maybe more damaging bites with consequenses (heavy pain, infection etc.), upping the zombie numbers in villages, etc. About players - spawns at the beach are fixed even now. They should be completely random. And people will learn how to avoid grinders-hunters: go into the forest, be more attentive etc. Camping in popular places has the solution already - ppl know the camping spots and watch out. Pvp whiners - gtfo, I'm not gonna punish bandit playstyle. About KoS - this won't give you much enough to cover the potential friendship bonuses. Even now. 3) Driving. There were tons of suggestions about fuel scarcity, capturing the fuel stations etc. The second I like, so gas will be really scarce. Want to refuel - pay, or engage the hosts. Both result in serious losses. Maybe you should tire from driving, so the car becomes less controllable. Some will say that you may just change seats with a friend, but this will anyhow lower the skilling speed + one more argument against KoS. 4) Repairing. Parts should be a little (a LITTLE) harder to find. Also repairing should take time (2-3 mins), all parts except glass should require a toolbox. Also after several rebuilds the effectivity should drop. And IMO, even running is more fun that repairing. 5) Hunting. Animals should be scared by man's presence and run away. Also they should give less steaks, they are overpowered besides (a cow can give you half health) 6) Medic. Here are two thoughts: 1. Using a medicine without having an injury is impossible. 2. A limit (4-5 bandages in a hour, even if looting a city with tons of zeds, it's hard to reach it IMO). After reaching the limit, the given xp is either hugely dropped or you get no xp at all. Bandages is just a variable. What about this? -
Motorbike self-repairs too :)

Training over time (Character skilling)
Gordon Axeman replied to Gordon Axeman's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You are overestimating the players. "Incubating" made me laugh. It's so boring that even the Chinese gamers will never do this. About grinding shooting/medicine/everything that needs consumables - there were numerous threads about making everything rarer. MUCH RARER. And I completely support them. And really, everyone will just survive. IMO, my goal was to make such system that will make grinding very boring. This system should let players easily upgrade the skills during usual gameplay. They just survrive and among with this the skill is getting higher. So grinding is just unnecessary. Also, the grinders will eventually end up at the beach (this is not WoW where lvl 1 has absolutely no chances against level 2), get butthurt and leave. The skill should not be the law of DayZ, it just assists you in survival, nothing more. And as the last word: if you still consider everything overpowered, I have nothing to do with you. I don't know how to explain. -
Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.

Training over time (Character skilling)
Gordon Axeman replied to Gordon Axeman's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Guys, some of you make me laugh, and some of you make me think about closing the theme. As Pandemia and some others said, becoming better at tasks that you perform is realistic and doesn't create "level whoring". The skills are invisible (you can't say who is that character - a medic, a driver, if he hadn't written it on his forehead). About the spawns - they just have to be balanced. For example, the soldier spawns with a weapon, but nothing more and in a dangerous area. Hunters have "hunting set", some food and water, but they are completely lost in forests. Medics get buffs, but they are not huge, and they also spawn in dangerous areas. I told several times - the skills are survival only, THEY GIVE YOU NO PVP ADVANTAGE. Just give me an example, what skill can help that sniper? If you are good enough, you will kill him. If you are a dumbass/carebear who wants everyone to be the same - sorry, this will never happen. Just because some players have more straight arms. -
Training over time (Character skilling)
Gordon Axeman replied to Gordon Axeman's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
So, we have the grind solution for now. But what do you mean by picking skills when you start? This is going to a class system now, and I am categorically AGAINST it. This may be combined (IMO) with the spawning idea: for example, as a soldier, you spawn at balota, with glock and 1 mag. You get higher accuracy and quicker reloading. You may start as a medic - to spawn on a hospital roof, with two bandages and morphine. Etc. What do you think? -

No one is going to make fresh-spawns shit that can't do a fire. But character skills should be reduced comparing to the current state. You both are right -
I like the idea. But I have an addition: hotwired car should go with alarm activated for several minutes.
