  1. This is probably one of the best posts I've ever seen on the Dayz forums. And the point is absolutely worth repeating; a great reason to buy it is to support Dayz via supporting BIS, and the Arma community that Dayz is a part of. If you get past the inherent clunkiness of Arma2 and start checking out some of the other things it has to offer, you might be even more excited.
  2. I really don't understand the way people like Aaron think in these discussions. How, in a rational mind, can what I've recently suggested, or have ever suggested be considered restricting anything? He can only deflect the real questions with jabs of pointing out you've made a typo, or other such trivialities. The simplest answer is that they just want to be exclusivity desiring, high-tower-peering motherfuckers, and they want to prevent Dayz from becoming a commercial or worse - casual, success, because that would require the game moving -maybe, potentially, theoretically- into a less PVP-oriented final product. They would much rather Dayz phase down to a small-scale playerbase of hardcore PVP purists with no future. I really want to be wrong in that assessment, but every time I log into the forums I am overwhelmed with the most vitriolic rancor directed towards anybody, anybody who dissents with PVP-centric tendancies, and it reinforces the assessment.
  3. Looks like the thread is still truckin' along, filled with words forming opinions of different varieties, dudebro.
  4. Sarcasm might not get through to you, so I'll go another route. Do you understand the fault in this retort, when I subsequently followed the TL;DR with several statements refuting your generalist position of "Everyone is out to get me and PVPers!" (To which, you never did show me where I ever said I wanted PVP removed from the game, or punished/penalized in any way, thus discrediting your entire counter-arguement) Yup, I assume it was un-stickied during the maintenance/transition, through oversight or with the intention of it being a standard thread again (and not because the moderators/Dev team desire to squash discussion on the discussion forum, as Aaron would desire)
  5. I actually had a similar idea earlier in the evening. I'd suggest a few refinements (of which I have no idea whether or not they're capable within the confines of Arma2's engine, but, just suggestions): Upon creation of a new character (every respawn) you have to choose between male/female, and then are required to choose between PVP or COOP setting, which would do the following; your character would be set invisible to the opposite choice, as well as create a new variable of friendly fire (if that's possible), which would make the opposite choices invulnerable to each other (to prevent exploitive/hacking griefer behavior between the two sides). This would be a good balance between the styles of gameplay, I believe. It's clear to some of us that a compromise must be made, and if dedicated coop servers are out of the question, this is the only thing I can think of. It would do several things to prevent unfair gameplay for one crowd or the other by way of a) All players would inhabit the same server, so the same loot would be available or otherwise unavailable due to other players habits or proximity, PVP/COOP would be tied directly to your character's life or death, which would prevent players from gearing up and then switching to PVP mode. Since that's a concern of some people. c) Players who desire that thrill of knowing they might run into hostiles, and enjoy being on their toes, can still be PVP toggled. So they lose nothing of their gameplay experience. PVP players will still have a vast array of opponents to face, while COOP oriented players will retain the unique playstyles that Dayz provides, to which they so much enjoy. To me, this seems like an everybody wins scenario, but I'm pretty sure Aaron will find a way to tell us we're removing his gameplay, followed by nihilistic swooping in with some 'roid rage message about peasants and people crying on his crusade. So cheers.
  6. If it goes away, it goes away. Keep on your anti-listening to other opinions crusade, you tool.
  7. Yeah, point out there are typos, and skip the entire point of the message. You win! Again, read what I've said with a little comprehension/critical thinking skills. I do not think PVP is going to be removed or gimped. (Nor have I ever advocated any action to revoke any PVP rights) and I do think side chat is less harmful than it's portrayed,. I want to see things added which encourage more cooperative play rather than enduce more PVP play. Were there any typos in this one, champ? PS - Found one! Induce, not enduce!
  8. Lol, because the capability to enjoy two different styles of FPS means my input isn't legitimate. I'm appreciative of your argumentative nature because, yes, as Septus says, I'm arguing just to argue. And you're returning each with more ammunition for me to enjoy myself. Where have I mentioned desiring to gimp PVP? Show me one quote I have ever made that has said 'I want PVP to be removed or a system of artifical punishment put in place'? Show me that statement I made. You're pretty quick with the insults, yourself. I've seen you do the exact same thing you railed me about previously (entering a thread to just make some half-assed insult). Hypocrisy is awesome when it's fueled by venomous bullshit, isn't it? And as for Septus: I don't make sense to you because I desire a polite discussion filled with compromise or at least agree-to-disagree statements. You, on the other hand, want to win and rub it in the internet noses of all the people who don't have the same argument as you. Also, I thought we went over this before? Stats without context are meaningless. Stats be damned because stats can be skewed to any viewpoint, when there isn't a foundational understanding of those statistics. But whatever floats your boat, my friend. I'm just here for the enjoyment of having the moral high ground, isn't that right, Aaron? PS - Here's a link, so I can prove to you I'm not lazy! http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/27160-the-yogcast-video-sure-did-ruin-the-community/page__st__40 Whoa there, did you just post an inflamatory comment mid-thread without a point, further unnecessarily cluttering the forums with the kind of bullshitery you despise? Isn't that why I'm bad?
  9. Tl;dr, you're still a douche. I'll deconstruct a few of your fallacies here though; A) The LGBT thread where I told people not to insult each other? I'm pretty sure I only made mention that a clearly religiously-based counter-troll came into it, and I thought maybe he was going to take it too far. My bad. B) I've been generally pretty reactionary in my dickishness. C) You're the one who wants to close the thread because you don't want to hear it anymore. D) Reading comprehension fail. Show me all those times people said they want PVP removed entirely, and I'll show you somebody who probably knows that is entirely unlikely. That's what I said, wasn't it? That they don't really expect it to be removed? E) You're still a douche.
  10. If it can figure out how to stop players from passing and shooting through walls' date=' I'm pretty sure it can handle the same logic for other in game entities. [/quote'] Players are supposed to be able to shoot through walls. What the wall is made of and the calibre of the bullet determines if the bullet will pass through. You can shoot through metal pipes and bricks with some guns, just as in real life. I'm sorry. I didn't realize this was Call of Duty. What point are you trying to make here? Call of Duty is much more realistic than most shooters in the area of penetration (it has it at all vs not having it at all, even if it's terribly inaccurately modeled) I apologize ahead of time that this is pretty off topic, but I figured nobody really says what I'm sure lots of people are actually feeling... What exactly IS IT with the Call of Duty bashing? Honestly, Rocket himself even said it, Call of Duty was/is a great game. Just because you guys want to be elitist dicks and use it as an insult/mockery, doesn't actually make it so. Has anyone here even actually played any of the recent Call of Duty games? Modern Warfare 3 is extraordinarily fun a game. It's also extremely arcadey and not intended to be a representation of real, factual life. The mission where you're a combat diver planting explosives on a submerged submarine to force it to surface? That is some fucking Grade A awesome cinematic gameplay. It's also entirely illogical a scenario if you consider it. But isn't a zombie apocalypse also? They aren't even the same genre of FPS as Arma2. The comparisons don't even work, lol. It's like comparing DayZ and Portal, because they both have "guns". Tl;dr, CoD and Arma2 have about as much in common as Nascar and golf. Stop parroting a dumb insult. At least be creative dicks.
  11. Why, exactly, do you care so much that this discussion be closed? Here's a novel idea... Go read another section of the forums. Let people who want to discuss amongst themselves whatever topics are important to them. I'm comfortable speaking for everyone in this thread that not a single person posting in this thread, in its entirety, expects that PVP is going to be removed. Most would probably even agree that a handicapping or otherwise system of punishment for PVP will never be implemented. The discussion more or less switches from "Let's bitch about how much we hate PVP" (which is fine. Bitching and moaning can be theraputic.) to "Let's try to come up with some sort of system that reduces PVP by way of introducing other valuable gameplay options." (which is cool, because a nugget of a good idea can stem from anywhere) to defense from dicks like yourself who only want to argue for the sake of being that awesomesauce internet tough guy. (which isn't all that cool, because it doesn't accomplish anything) If you don't want to read this shit and see how many carebears enjoy Dayz enough to want to come here and speak with other likeminded people, go read something else. Desiring this thread to close simply because it holds an opinion that you disagree with is beyond ridiculous. Good job.

Day Z is insulting to LGBT people

dafuq? Let me translate for you. A+B=C but C can't be A+B because there isn't an option for B to be an A if it identifies more with the curvature of A rather than B. But some people disagree with waffles.

Day Z is insulting to LGBT people

You know, the ponies and spiderman shit were pretty lolz inducing, but I think we should actually nip in the bud that obvious religious counter-troller gets a little out of control. I can see that getting cringe-worthy in a hurry.
