when i finally get into a game there are no structures, trees, and grass. just rolling hills. please help

i have downloaded the beta patch but its still not working now i get a "error creating direct3D 9 graphical engine" the weird part is that i see "@dayz" line under "ArmA 2" on the right side of the menu screen. but it still wont work.

i just got the game and mod last night though

every time i pick a server i get a message that says "bad version, server rejected connection." what does this mean and/or how do i fix it?
