    Requirements for new player

    There is a free version of Arma 2 but then you'd have low res textures. Buying Arma 2: Combined Operations will suffice. The player models will have a low res texture, but the rest will be fine. This is because the player model is from the PMC DLC. If you want everything high res you'd need the Arma 2 Anniversary Edition. To keep Arma and DayZ updated, download SixUpdater. There are several tutorials for installing DayZ. Good luck, it's not THAT hard ;)

    Good places to get backpacks are: 1. Supermarket (for example in Cherno, Elektro, Stary,...) 2. Flats (for example the 5 red flats with 2-3 stories next to the hospital in western Cherno) 3. Wooden toilets (but watch out, closing the door accidently while you're in it may get you injured or even killed) Edit: If you see a backpack on the ground and you don't have the menu option to pick it up, first pick up every other item around it. The option will only show when the backpack is the only thing at this loot spot. Edit 2: To be safe, first drop everything from your old backpack to the ground, before replacing it with the new one. Otherwise your old one might disappear with all items in it.

    When you are directly in front of a fence, press V (vault). Sometimes this works with barbed wire, too ;) About the server hopping to get gear - it's indeed a useful exploit (that needs fixing) but it can get you killed quite easily, as your character may spawn before you can move. If there is someone there, then you're screwed ;)

    Shoot on Sight

    I've always been very friendly. I may have had 3 murders after 2 weeks or something, from point-blank-surprises. Well, 2 days ago, my friend and I left NW airfield, after finding a M16A2 and a M4A3 CCO, but only 5 STANAGs total. So, plan was to hit Stary Sobor military tents to get more ammo. Checking the supermarket in Stary we got quite lucky with food/coke. When I left it I immediately got sniped and fell unconscious at the entrance. My friend used a epi pen on me and I was able to get back inside with 792 blood left. I ate and got back to about 4k blood. My friend had to leave and I crawled back to cherno to get blood bags, as we ran out. I entered one of the 3 red buildings with direct sight on the hospital and saw a corpse laying in front of it. I waited for like 10 minutes till someone came checking it out. As I needed to get inside of the hospital and didn't want to have anyone sneaking around it, I took a few pot shots. Seriously injuring but unfortunately not killing him. Then another guy approached from the back like 150 meters away. I shot him 3 times, he fell, but I didn't get a murder, so I guess he logged off, unconscious. These 2 didn't see me and thus posed no direct threat to me, but they were sneaking around a place that was crucial to reach for me. I didn't even go loot their bodies, all I wanted is to get blood bags. So yes, I shoot on sight if necessary. And usually it is necessary as most people would give it a try theirselves to get my stuff. M4A3 CCO, big backpack, camo clothing - all that seems to be just TOO tempting. In order to prevent being a target I shoot on sight now.

    Might be a bug: - after getting knocked unconscious and waking up again, my infection was cured (not that I'd complain, I hate being infected with such a low spawn rate of antibiotics :P)

    I know of no fixes for the colour-blind issue' date=' and agree that could be a problem for some users - could do with an update to the icons in that case. As for text size - I believe there's an option under "Advanced" settings in the video options section (on the right iirc) where you can change the size of the UI - might need a restart to set it properly. [/quote'] An easy fix should be displaying a percentage over the icons. Even for people who don't suffer from color blindness, it's sometimes hard to tell if the icon is orange or red, yet, due to the low opacity and the mostly green/brown background. No offense, but I wonder if color blind see a big difference from normal gameplay to when it all turns greyish when you're hurt?

    Awesome build! I've had a lot of fun! Things I noticed in 1.7.1.5: - morphine spawn rate seems too low (breaking bone = death).. I can't always head for the hospital first wherever I am - I once survived with 0.49672348 blood or something. Under .5 and some really long number - When you find a new backpack and take it, your old one is gone compeletely (along with everything in it :-() Other than that, great release!

    It is a bug with the Arma 2 engines buggy collision detection and has always persisted. Quick fix is' date=' dont crawl on stairs or through doorways also don't try to crawl through tight spaces e.g. between two walls or between a stone wall and a bush etc. I broke my legs and lost 6k blood immediately twice yesterday. One was when I tried to crawl between a bush and a stone wall the other was when I tried to crawl between 2 trees that were too close together even though there was plenty of space to crawl through. [/quote'] But as this bug can not be fixed and we often have to crawl into buildings I really think we should have at least 1 morphine from the beginning. That or broken bones healing after a few minutes as requested before. Otherwise you'll have to restart as soon as it happens.

    Or maybe even hearing gunshots! That'd be so fucked! I like it. +1 Great idea. Oh god please no! This mod is about having the freedom to do what you want and what you think is necessary to survive. I don't want to be forced to team up.
