  1. As per the "fill this out" thread: Retail version of Arma2CO Beta patch 102285 Launching with DayZCommander Specs: OS: Windows7 CPU: Phenom II x4 95BE (OC'd from 3.2 to 3.6ghz) RAM: OCZ Reaper HPC (4GB) MOBO: M4A785TD-V EVO Vid Card: GTX 275 HD: Corsair F120 SSD (As well as a couple older 7200 RPM drives) OK, look, before you tell me I only have 4 gigs of ram, or an older CPU and vid card, note that this is a NEW problem that did NOT use to occur. I played Dayz just fine for many months without ever seeing this problem. After getting the SSD and installing my OS to it, as well as DayZ, I started noticing this problem that didn't occur all the time, just sometimes. The problem is my FPS that would usually be 30-60 and smooth and responsive, would suddenly hang around 18-20, and drop as low as 12, and it would be VERY choppy and very laggy to respond to mouse movement. What I think is key here is that I discovered that it wasn't so random. The FIRST time I launch dayz, it's fine, and I don't have this problem. But if I close the game and come back an hour later and lauch it, I will be laggy. If I reboot my PC and launch the game it's smooth for hours on end, but as soon as I close the game and relaunch it, it's baaaad. Some friends told me I should just use my SSD for my OS, and not games like DayZ. I don't know if that's true or not, but it was worth a shot, so I completely uninstalled Arma2 and DayZ, and reinstalled everything back on my old HD that never gave me this problem, yet I still have the problem. I figure this is a really specific condition that I have this problem under, and maybe someone can give me some advice. TL;DR FPS drop and mouse lag, only after launching the game a 2nd time since PC reboot

I can confirm that Wotane's server does use the battleye extended controls. He's my homie and his server is one of our clans (True Grit) official servers. He's the only one that has admin as far as I know, and he's not even in the server in that screenshot. And I have never seen his server passworded. He's also mentioned more than once how serious the rules are, and that you can't ban people at will/lock the server, or you get blacklisted. He's offered me admin before (though I don't have it, because I hate responsibility) for the single purpose or restarting the server if it's laggy, but again, he's stressed how important the rules are, and not to ever do anything even remotely shady, or you can get blacklisted. Yes, Wotane smells like old cheese, and does infact have very tiny man parts, but to his credit, he does have integrity when it comes to this server. On a related note, I can tell you that in True Grits 6+ year history as one of the most popular CSS servers in the US (#1 actually for a server with a rotation and stock CSS) we do not take affiliates lightly. We have turned down many many people, including clanmates in the past, who wanted to host a server and have it be affiliated with TG. If Wotane actually did stuff like that we wouldn't be associated with him at all. The tiny pen0r we can accept, but not something like locking a server for your own advantage, that would never be OK.
  4. I think one thing that really puts a damper on the amazingness that is Dayz, is surviving for 1 week, gathering loot, finding your first tent, your first NVG's, night raiding towns super careful, only to go into a building, clear it, then starting picking up loot, only to be shot in the back by some guy that just logged in. And just like that, a weeks worth of cautious play, down the drain because the room you cleared can NEVER actually be safe. I'm sure there's a dozen ways to improve protection against spawn ins, and I'd love to hear them all, but all I could think of was something like say, if you try to log in on me, you get a message saying you can't log in there, you're too close to another player (and likewise give the same warning to others, that someone tried to log in on them. Then maybe give the player the option to log in 200m back in the woods or something. So both players know that they're about to be in some action, and nobody gets spawned on. I'm sure there's many better options, but I know I'm not alone in feeling like this is the one major drawback to a fantastic game. A couple days ago my buddies and I raided the NW airfield, he was in the firehouse, noticed zombies despawn, called out "oh no, someones gonna spawn", and was promptly shot in the back, killed, and looted, then the guy logged out. Similar events claimed another buddy yesterday, and now me today. To play all that time, being so careful, so quiet, so sneaky, only to die to someone spawning 2 feet behind you is pretty depressing. So, I know this mod is in early alpha, I know it has a lot of changes coming, and maybe this is something that takes 6 months or longer, who cares, these things take time. I just really really hope that ANY kind of protection from this sort of thing will be implemented.
  5. I'd like to see 3 basic weapon slots. Primary, secondary, and melee. So it's the zombie apocalypse, and you have a AK, a pistol, and a hatchet, but you can't hold all 3 without putting one in your backpack? Nonsense! AK over my shoulder, Pistol in my holster, hatchet in my belt. How about belts being default, or extremely findable. I think it's quite reasonable to hold a primary, secondary, and tuck that hatchet in your belt. Having the hatchet take up your primary slot, or even secondary, is kinda crippling IMO, and doesn't make too much sense, especially if you wear a belt, like pretty much everyone IRL. Sooo, how about a belt slot that holds one small melee weapon in conjunction with your primary/secondary? I mean think about it, IRL, can you wear a rifle over your shoulder, a pistol in your holster, and a hatchet in your belt? Of course you can! it's kind of silly to go "oh, I found a hatchet, instead of putting it in my belt, I better drop this rifle so I can hold it". I know this is an alpha and subject to many many changes. I'm not complaining, because really, who can complain about an alpha? I'm just suggesting what I'd like to see in the future.
