It is being removed in the next patch, if you really must die you will need someone or something to kill you.
-
Server reset will fix it, if you can contact the admin and request it. But you have to save the vehicle location or it will revert and there is a chance that the vehicle might not spawn on server restart (might need a few).
-
All of the data is saved on a main database, called "the Hive". You do no need to save the game. As long as you play on official servers (they follow the correct naming format) you should not have any problems.

Installing a third party program ("DayZ Commander" and "Six Updater") and then running it is as simple as it can get. Ultimately it is down to you to decide what method you want to use in getting the mod running, the one that you have linked should work.

What key do you bind your 3rd party chat (vent, TS3) to?

Using glue to remove something? Good luck with that ;) -
How high is the ping for the servers that you are trying to join?
-
You need to be more specific, what error message was given?

How many accessible servers are there really?
thisisbleep replied to Sula's topic in New Player Discussion
OP you are not making much sense. If you are asking for servers which are not password protected, you can filter it out and then check the number of servers shown. -
"DayZ Commander" can also update for you. I personally still do it manually, it really is not hard or time consuming.

Noob question for Wire Fencing Kit and Tents?
thisisbleep replied to Lawson's topic in New Player Discussion
The tent will disappear a few days after the character dies, once you have died you cannot pack-up the tent because the character ID has changed. -
Day z Flickering Scooped and within Forest's

Have you disabled the AA? -
If you want a new character just hit "respawn" or get deliberately killed. You only get one character per Operation Arrowhead serial key, unless you play on non-Hive servers (not recommended).
-
Rocket did confirm that it only counts as a life if you live for a few minutes (cannot remember the exact amount of time), so people who keep hitting respawn are not counted.

Items can fall through the floor of buildings and on slopes, avoid dropping items there where possible. I always carry an empty whiskey bottle, for distracting zombies or to get them to leave a building, I drop that first and then check if I can pick it back up. If I can, I just drop the items in the same loot pile.

how can you tell if the server is night or day?
thisisbleep replied to jmido8's topic in New Player Discussion
There is no way of knowing, using "DayZ Commander" will give you a good chance of finding a server with the desired timezone. Typically: Server with lots of people = daytime Server with no/few people = night time -
I never said that this thread was newer, but it gets asked daily and I had already just answered that one. As I said, in the future please try to search first.

If the freezing/lag is intermittent it could be a problem with your CPU or GPU overheating. Remove all dust and fluff from your PC and remove any overclocking that you have set, then try again.

There are 3 starter clothing colours for males (not sure about females) and what you see on your screen is not the same as other people see, it is controlled by each person what they see. (e.g. you could be wearing blue but someone else sees you wearing black)
-
There are 3 default colours of clothing for the male starting character, but it is not constant and is decided per player not by the server. So 3 people could see the same person in a different colour starter clothing. Ideally in the future we could get some customisation and have a rudimentary way of marking each person as part of the team. Some servers allow modification of the player skin (e.g. wear glasses or have camo on face), but it is not very obvious unless you get close to them and you cannot see if if they face away from you.

There are already a load of different videos which are designed to help new people, you should check them out instead of demanding that "some guy" do it. (I know who he is and used to watch some of his videos)
-
It also likes to go back to "auto" even though I keep telling it "semi" <_<. It seems to be tied to opening your bag and it resetting it sometimes/all the time, so keep an eye on what it says if you don't want to use auto.

Do zombies have different aggro range on diff servers?
thisisbleep replied to kragz's topic in New Player Discussion
In the latest patch zombies have a random chance of seeing you at a distance, so this is most likely why. Stay out of their line of sight as much as possible. Server difficulties are a guide, the admin can chose what to set as enabled/disabled. The difficulty only gives an indication of the defaults. I recommend that you use "DayZ Commander", it allows you to filter what you want and more easily find a server. -
1. Open Arma II: OA, DayZ Commander or Six Launcher. 2. Filter for "DayZ" (not required for DayZ Commander). 3. Load the servers to find ping. 4. Sort by ping. 5. Look at the top servers to find one with space and with the settings that you want enabled/disabled (easiest in DayZ Commander). 6. Double click on chosen server. 7. Play game. ? You could have 2 neighbours playing the game, both could give wildly different answers on their best server. Only you know what you want.

There are no objectives or constraints put on the player, so by definition it is an open game for the player to do what they want (sandbox). At the moment the number of things that you can do in the sandbox is quite limited, but there is still lots of time to add new things (e.g. Rocket has mentioned adding the ability for people to make bases etc.)
-
This is an alpha staged mod, you are here to help Rocket by testing and suggesting changes. Rule number 1 for DayZ is to not get attached to your gear, if it wasn't a hacker some other bug would have killed you eventually, just start over. Sadly there are a lot of people who enjoy ruining the experience of others, for now you just need to ignore them and go to a different server. If you can collect evidence and you can report them on the forum.
