    They definitely should not be allowed to run a server. I somewhat feel that server admins abusing their priveledges is worse then a player doing it, it's harder to accuse them of something since they stand above the players. I actually get mad reading about these lame admins.

  3. Yeah "Direct communication" range really need to be higher. It's 40 meters in the beta patch for Arma 2 which pretty much all servers use. Which leads me to believe that everything related to the chat is decided in the Arma 2 engine and cannot actually by changed in a mod which seems to be really crappy tbh. Would be so amazing if we could have a few different channels like talk, shout and radios etc in the actual mod. Rocket removes weapons (you just get a flashlight) when you spawn to see if people will team up with each other.. Well it's not easy to find someone to team up with when the chat just reach 40 meter anyway. I would definitely not want to have the global chat again though, it sucked. But still the chat system NEEDS an overhaul.

    I think the infected behavior has worked great since 1.7.1.5. I never got hit by them though but that's pretty much the point imo. Don't get hit! Before 1.7.1.5 it was very hard to sneak past them but it's not anymore. That was game breaking and made it less fun imo but if they hit hard when they actually catch up to you is not the same game breaking mechanic, they should potentially be very dangerous if you mess up.

    Increase Range of Direct Communication

    1) imo there should be three alternatives, instead of just "direct communication"; talk (more useful when you have a smaller group to play with), yell (when you need to find/talk to other players in the beginning) and a bunch of different radios (enhanced group communication and global chat). "direct communication" is 40 meters already. 2) Not a good suggestion. I cant sit and yell while sitting by my computer, not during the day and especially not during the night when I usually play.

I would think its more realistic to wake up with a gun than without... do you think you would of made it that far with a flashlight...? when there are hundreds of zombies and handful of survivors left. I don't even know if realism is even something we can talk about in this case though, we don't know the story behind the event in this mod (or do we?) but it looks like you've been washed up on the shore.. Who even said that you've made it far? This might as well be the start of the journey. Maybe guns are not that common (because of laws) from wherever you came from, maybe you were on a ship when this zombie outbreak happened etc. The focus should be on creating a challenge and make the game fun. I love that you don't start with any weapon and have to put some effort into getting better equipment.
  7. Starting without a gun is much better, maybe we could start with a melee weapon though, but it's not impossible to sneak into a town and find a melee weapon quite fast. At least not during the nights. If you're an inexperienced player and get this mod and don't feel like learning to play you've picked the wrong mod in my opinion. I hate when different servers have different settings, there are already more options then there should be with veteran/regular and 3rd person. One ruleset to rule them all plz! Or something like that..
  8. I don't know. I think painkillers are more important, pretty much never break my legs anyway. When you get hit and the screen shake is so annoying to look at! Making a splint sounds like an awesome addition though! It's not like morphine magically heals broken bones in real life. Morphine is the same thing as painkillers as far as I know just much stronger.
  9. This has been discussed a lot already but sure it would be nice. I don't see why text should be banned though, it would work just as well as voice, there is already a clear disadvantage with text and it's that you have to stop to type something.
  10. It's pretty much how i see it right now. There need to be some implemented trading system, else you just got their word that they wont shoot you and take all your loot instead, you cant trust anyone in Day Z. What I would like to see is some safe zones where you will get shot if you open fire at someone pretty much like in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. maybe these zones could be controlled by NPCs that will see to that the place does not turn into a total warzone. It would take away a little from the sandbox-feeling of the mod though.. Players could create zones like this too but it doesn't seem that likely to happen.
  11. I don't think it would add anything at all at this state if not everyone on the server agrees to go heavy role play mode. This is a sandbox game and any item could be currency, just collect enough of them and you're rich, everyone just has to agree that it's the official currency. Team Fortress 2 has metal as currency for example which you get from smelting two weapons.

    Realistic Chat Groups

    Which means you would sit by your computer and scream? Doesn't sound that nice although it's realistic in a sense. This has all been suggested before though, speak, shout and different radios etc. I hope it's implemented eventually but it seems like it's actually a limitation in the Arma 2 engine.

    Simply don't get hit! Means you will have to think more about your next move so you wont get hit. Makes the gameplay more exciting imo.

    Don't add to much features

    I don't know if I agree, more features is better but there should of course be some limits to what features get added.. So much more could be added at this stage imo without making the mod worse, it will just make it better. It should not be easy to survive, nothing is wrong with 30 minutes; play again and play better. There has been a lot of new players recently too because of recent articles about the mod which of course will lower the "average life expectancy".

    Ok, not exactly everything but realistic stuff that makes sense and that you have to do to survive like in a real zombie apocalypse. Personally I think pooping is taking it a little bit to far although it's necessary for survival because it would feel so humorous. It would be the #1 joke about this mod like "pooping simulator". Sex would feel a little bit to far outside of what this mod is about imo.

    Haha, awesome! I think everything that's realistic and you would do in real life should be added. Does it add anything to the gameplay though? If this mod had a realistic sickness system it would maybe add something to have shit and piss? Everything to make surviving in this game harder! I don't think I've ever seen pooping (except for a cutscene in Duke Nukem 3D) or pissing (except for Postal 2) in a game before and definitely not as a serious gameplay mechanic which would make Day Z stand out from its competitors (not that there is anything to really compete with Day Z atm?). The mod could be taken as non-serious (as in humorous) with pooping though, guess that's why it's not a gameplay mechanic in any game.

    Melee Weapon Petition

    I can't really see the point why so many are against melee weapons. Of course they should not be implemented as hack and slash weapons which can take down hordes of zombies. I would rather say that they should be very situational, make them so that just attacks from behind are 100% silent and kill in one hit. When the zombies or players are aware of you and see you the melee weapons should not be as effective you should most likely die or take a lot of damage yourself if you melee against more then one zombie or a player using guns. It's realistic in the sense that if you sneak up on someone from behind the target is not prepared and you can attack vulnerable areas on your target while if they're aware of you and look at you they can block your melee attacks with their arms which of course should damage them in some way but not as much as when they're unprepared. When you attack from the front it should mainly cause bleeding but maybe there could be some luck variable involved too where you could break bones when you use blunt weapons for example. Melee should simply just be used to take down single targets silently when you have sneaked up on them from behind and in situations where you have no ammo as a last resort.

    ACRE Support

    ACRE just feels like a quite hackish solution when you have to use a third party software (Teamspeak) to even get it to work. Stuff like this should be possible to add directly into Arma imo.. I definitely agree that an enhanced radio and speak system would add a lot to this mod though. Force players to find radios to be able to talk to people further away then normal talk/shout range (lets say max 100 meters). Then there can be more advanced radios which supports longer distances etc. It would make things interesting when you have to find people in the beginning when you start alone and afraid, you will have to run around and shout or find a radio to find the bigger groups of people or players further away. No global chat for you.. Text chat could still work very well with an enhanced radio system and speaking/shouting although it's obviously not possible with ACRE.

    Yeah I get that, the implementation in this case seemed to be more clunky then it needed to though. Double tapping CTRL should be useful, thanks.

    Yeah moving through doorways and other tight places is not smooth atm. Guess it's supposed to be realistic in the sense that your rifle is in the way to turn in those places but it could be handled much better although it would require some fancy animations and some fancy code to prevent you from shooting straight forward when the rifle is up against a wall. This mod looks better then the rigid behavior of Arma 2, this mod seem to make Arma 2 behave like any other FPS game out there.
