Why Can't I Place My Tent Anywhere!?

Just gonna say... I wouldn't put my tent in the open like that. I'd find a forest I know how to find again and again and set up there.

    Broken Bones And No Morphine

Wow, you must be the most hardcore player of all time. EDIT: Also, the issue he mentioned is a real problem, so why don't you take a big sip of STFU and give some constructive feedback about things in the game that genuinely need addressing?
  3. Negative. Rocket has done a top-notch job of preventing admin abuse of that magnitude.

    Unlimited zombies, limited ammo.

A buddy and I scouted a grocery store, saw only about 10 zeds in the surrounding area and decided that we'd be able to take all of em on inside the store since we both had AK's with 4 mags each. ... 60 zeds, two blood transfusions, a morphine, and a still broken leg later we learned that zeds simply give no fucks about walls, doors, nor barbed wire since they just sauntered right through all of em. If realism is the goal of this game, the zeds need a serious amount of work to meet that goal. My complaint isn't that we got swarmed by zeds because we fired our guns, but rather that the zeds walk through walls and surfaces like fucking jesus.

    Broken Bones And No Morphine

there's a point where "realism" is just another word for "game mechanic". I submit to you good sir, that this is one of those times. If you want "realism", you shouldn't be able to carry an engine block in your backpack nor carry heli blades on your person and still be able to maneuver normally.
  6. while a good idea in concept, grouping would be a pain, and setting up a camp becomes downright impossible with that setting.
  7. As a Texan, it's really not much of a stretch at all to expect for everyone and their momma to own a firearm, nor is it a stretch in the slightest to expect any given person walking around to be carrying.
  8. Ok cool, I guess I'll just abuse exploits like many other people do to advance past the starting level of gear progression? That's so immersive and realistic! Also, I don't even necessarily want a gun, I want a way to get rid of zeds outside of abusing LOS tricks by hiding in a tree, making them fall off of a slope due to pathing, or DC'ing. I don't think it's asking for too much? It would be a tradeoff to fight hand to hand with a zed as they could break your leg or poke a hole in you, but that's much more preferable to running around and getting even MORE of his friends on me, only incentivising me to abuse exploits more. It wouldn't tarnish the oh-so-holy difficulty of the game, it would just give another dimension and tradeoff to the player that I would add another layer of realism to the game, without the need to constantly be fiddling with zed AI and putting so many production cycles into QA with em
  9. Any way you wanna cut it though, survival usually comes down to fight or flight instinct. We currently are offered only one option at spawn and until we manage to find a means of defense.
  10. Xamot, are you running up to date? The current build specifically spawns zeds near loot when a player approaches.
  11. What ancient knowledge do you seek' date=' child? [/quote'] you say we as survivors should be more concerned about a flashlight than a means of defense because the flashlight is more rare? A weapon, any weapon is magnitudes more important than a spotlight for zeds and snipers to come kill you, and now the easiest/best way to get one is through making a zed train and/or force DC'ing once you've found loot but have too many zeds on you to take it. Having trouble starting out because you don't have a means of defense doesn't make you a "baddie", it makes you on the same level that any other (real) human being would be on if they were put in the same situation. If realism is the point of this game, then being 100% helpless to deter attacks isn't really all that real, is it? You should at least have your dukes up, ready to fight it out, or be able to grab a rock and cave some heads in, not just run with your tail between your legs until you find a building or cliff and can exploit the AI rules.
  12. In 1.7.0, I don't think I'd have near the problems that I do now looting deer stands/barns, mainly because the zeds didn't have superhuman vision and hearing that would allow them to spot you standing up from prone in dense forest while cocking your arm back to throw a tin can. That said, if I had a means of defense I could take a higher risk/higher reward approach in killing the zeds outright and looting the stand without worry of visitors. Yes, there are problems with zed AI (in my opinion) but the lack of a means of any sort of defense on spawn makes anything more than sprinting around the map in search of a means of defense a waste of time.
  13. No, because if I came upon a barn or deerstand with goods in it that's in the woods I can actually do something about getting the goods from that location rather than run like an idiot around them to kite them off the loot, or hope they don't see me throwing a tin can (which they always do) in an attempt to distract them. Have a means of defense in the game is a HUGE deal. I don't care if it's a firearm or not, I'll take anything on spawn that I can defend myself with and/or kill a zed or two with if they aren't in a larger group.
  14. No starter wep = either a stealth crawl for hours to hope you find a matching wep and ammo, or creating a zed train while on your quest to find a firearm, and then just DC'ing once you have your wep as to avoid all the zeds. I get that stealth should be a part of gameplay, but several hours of playtime can be nullified by being spotted once and you have no defense against zeds other than kiting them around for ages or DC'ing. That isn't fun and that isn't realistic to just up and disappear from a zed train, rather than defend yourself for one last valiant stand. TLDR - no starting wep = game mechanics abuse to get a weapon easier, breaks game immersion
  15. Remix. Stop trolling, you aren't contributing to the thread other than L0L UR S0 DUM8! L2P N00B "Stealth" now is crawling for literal hours on end through a looting area *praying* that a bandit doesn't see you and kill you for your bandage, undoing hours of crawling, or that a zed doesn't spot/hear you from the moon and chase you down, prompting said zed train. His opinion isn't wrong, it's different from yours is all. If you really enjoy crawling for literal hours on end to find a few mags and no wep then I'm glad you're enjoying yourself ingame.

    [Feedback 1.7.1.4] About Stealth

obligatory statement about alpha, but yeah. The game plain isn't as fun as it was in 1.7.0 now that zeds are apparently jesus and can see your soul from miles away. I definitely don't agree with how running is as loud as firing a lee enfield, nor how crouch walking is as loud as firing a makarov. It plain doesn't make sense if the whole point of the game is "realism". Methinks some major balancing is required before the whole system is something that makes intuitive sense.
  18. TBH, no. I don't want to have some virtual pet that I have to take care of every waking moment of my day - that's not fun. I'd much rather have what the current system is.
  19. It's a little frustrating that zed's will run in zig-zag paths and teleport around while attacking you, and makes them even more of a challenge to deal with if you have the firepower to drop them. It almost seems as if they know that my crosshairs are pointed at them and they make an effort to get out of the way, which doesn't really seem like what a zombie would do in any definition of the term "zombie". Is there any ETA or any plans to make them do more of a straight run at your character once they agro rather than dance and blink around your character? Or rather, is it a limitation of the Arma II engine that enemy AI always avoids crosshairs? No discussion? Please? Even for a constructive post? *bump*
  20. well while you're running around like rambo, keep in mind that's not what the game is like 99.99% of the time as a new char. The feedback that starting is too punishing and provides little reward for a couple hours of work needs to be said.
