    It depends on the servers your playing on, sometimes it be like that haha. As for the not finding knifes remember you can find sledgehammer,meat tenderizer,crowbar,pickaxe to mine large rocks to collect stones. Using those same rocks you can turn your stones into knifes, now you can open your cans. As for the good loot I've come to realize you just gotta stick to the trees early game once you get your essentials and head to a spot on the map that has military tents, military barracks, police stations, etc. Good luck 👍
