I have not played in 6 months Is it time to start again?
tristanyockell replied to tristanyockell's topic in General Discussion
Welp, thanks for the responses. Apart from the much welcomed improvements on zombie AI and them no longer walking through walls and the additional firearms, it sounds like the same old overly clunky, broken mess. I guess I'll wait a while longer. I have no patience for playing a game where every action you do feels like someone with slow motion parkinsons. -

Hello everyone, I left this game in frustration many months back due to the constant crashes, glitching and fails to even load up randomly. That is what made me quit but what I'm concerned about is what state is the game in now? Is it more stable? Is it still very clunky and awkward to do everything? I noticed that the current build has persistence disabled but that they are brining it back soon. That is a major one for me as well. I like the gritty more realistic concept of dayz and I'm a gun nut as in I hate cheesy and unrealistic portrayal of firearms in games. How is the melee combat and injuries system now, still ultra lame or has it improved some what? Thanks. -
The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
tristanyockell replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
I have read that the devs have no interest in implementing the proper cartridge types for the firearms in game. Since this seems to be the case, they can take their "hardcore" game and shove it, I'm sorry I wasted my money on it. This attitude is only a symptom of worse to come. -
What do you think of fresh spawns being able to punch?
tristanyockell replied to Chungmugong's topic in General Discussion
Punching is too effective in relation to other weapons in dayz, if you disagree you are not thinking clearly. Someone with a shovel is much more lethal and has more reach then an average below competent striking person. Fists suck in real life, that's why we developed weapons. No really, fists suck in real life. By the way, they really suck in real life. You want effective punches in the game, make knuckle dusters available. The game should make fists terrible enough that you need to find a weapon to survive and deal with another armed individual even remotely successfully. As it is right now you can just zig zag your way at someone and mike tyson them and take their stuff. That's not realistic in the slightest. If I start as a fresh spawn and I feel totally helpless and useless, GOOD. Because if this was real life, you would be. That's the whole damn point is it not? -
I want to see a large variety of deadly, realistic and effective weapon systems along side "28 days later" style zombies.
-
I personally want to see hunting "hollow/soft point ammo" and FMJ/AP military ammunition.

Rolling Update Rev. 0.30.114008

My rubberbanding issues have been reduced by 90% I would say. Overall this build feels WAY more stable in every regard versus before but still needs to be improved upon obviously. Running an old I5 quad 750 series, 8GB 1333mhz ram, Geforce 670GTX 2gb video card. -

Log out timer should be 10-15 seconds at the very least in my opinion. -
Yeah I vote for 28 days style zombies, so long as they make the movement, combat and weapons realistic/effective and not stiff, buggy and unpredictable it will make for a great and adrenaline pumping game.

" does not expect that DayZ will reach beta status before the end of 2014."
tristanyockell replied to vrsick's topic in General Discussion
If it means that dayz will be an epic survival/combat game in the end, they can take as long as they need to. I'll be here every step of the way. If they continue to listen to the "mature, logical" community and it's needs, they have nothing but a positive future ahead of them. -
Speeds up hill are mostly accurate although possibly a little slow, the animations need to be better though.

More civilian guns- especially lever actions!
tristanyockell replied to Whyherro123's topic in General Discussion
A lever action firearm would be nice but bolt actions, break actions, pump actions and semi automatics would be much more common for hunting arms. Many nice hunting arms to choose from and some should be implimented in my opinion. As for military/police arms: AK's, SKS, RPK, PKM, RPD, DP, SVD's, SVT-40's, Rpg-2's and 7's, underslung GP-25 and 30 grenade launchers, PPS and PPSH sub machine guns, Tokarev and Makarov pistols all would fit into the game and deserve to in my opinion. Eastern bloc hardware should take priority over american arms because it just makes sense, having a large amount of us made firearms is foolish from a realism standpoint. -
I voted yes simply because the more firearms in game the better, I really do mean that. Just make them realistic damage, accuracy, handling and sound wise.
-
The option to disable it should be implimented, no reason not to. If someone likes it fine but to force it on the ones who do not like it is wrong. Twitch shooting is not going to be an issue in this game as its not a competition and the map is so vast as to never learn its inside and outs like a small counterstrike map can be after hundreds of hours ect. Again, the option needs to be enabled like on almost any other pc game.

Ultra realism Vs Balanced game design

Most important to me is ultra realistic firearm/combat and medical systems, injuries.
