Safe zones/merchants/trading/money

Been a while since i've seen a "safezone / currency" thread. Or I'm a liar. -
There needs to be a LOT more vehicles (2x)
aversionfx replied to Powell (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This is not a good argument for increasing the number of vehicles. Vehicles should remain rare. -
I'd totally be in favor of this. It's a hell of a lot more consistent with the game than hitting your Escape key and hitting respawn.

I'm not really keen on essentially allowing a single player to serve as an anchor point for all of his buddies to drop in on. Although you may be real-life friends with the people you're playing with, that doesn't translate to the game - you're all just a bunch of random people. I don't think extending in-game advantages to having people on your friends list (for example) is the way to do this. Not to mention, it kind of spoils the immersion of the game if, instead of having to navigate your way inland, you can just teleport to a friend.

You couldn't "jack with me" if your life depended on it. But nice try.

No. The thing that makes vehicles "great" is that they're rare and relatively hard to fix. Making them more common would just denigrate the value of vehicles. -
Yeah. "Hey, give me a blood transfusion and I'll give you my Colt 1911" Not "Hey, give me a blood transfusion and I'll give you well wishes and otherwise absolutely nothing of value for you essentially saving my life."

Maybe if your reading comprehension is poor. Which seems to be the case. -
It wouldn't, period. Money only has value because your governing body tells you it has value. When society falls apart for whatever reason, the only things of value are the things that are going to keep you alive. Those things being food, weapons, and medicine. Everything else is secondary.

It sounded like someone who is tired of 99% of the threads in the suggestion forum being made by soft-headed children with an inability for critical thinking or to articulate their thoughts into a coherent manner. Instead, the same 6 topics get rehashed hourly, because those soft-headed children are too stupid or lazy to spend 30 seconds using the search function. So the occasional good idea gets drowned out of the first page, and almost nobody sees it. The vast majority of people who create threads in the Suggestion forum don't care about DayZ, or Rocket's vision for the game. Period. If they did, they wouldn't constantly post shit about things that Rocket has already said are not in his plan.

This idea ruined this idea.

Nobody's pissed. At least, I'm not.

No. I'm saying that having more animations for a wider range of actions has absolutely no drawback, and that it can only serve to improve the immersion of the game. Learn. To. Read. -

Would be nice for the immersion factor, but I'm going to assume it's not in the game because of an engine limitation. More animations only make the game more immersive which makes the game better. -
Someone with a reading level above a 5th grader! Yay! Where have you been all my life?
-
The same reason you like to ask stupid questions. Because I can.
-
Definitely not an excuse to use in a game that is aiming to be a highly authentic zombie survival sim. I guess I'm the only one on the forum who wants the game to remain difficult and consistent with the world it has already created.

And how many hydro dams do you see around Chernarus? And how many of them are still operating? And if they're still operating and these automated church bells are still powered, why is the rest of Chernarus completely without power? None of you bother to actually think about what you post.

That's neat. Thanks for your completely content-void post. It was really helpful. -
sigh. Then where is the electricity powering these "automated" bells coming from?

I just think this would be more of a trolling tool than an actual utility. Long range, deployable "F you". -
Is not ever going to happen. Ever. You will never find a safe place in DayZ ever.

Okay, so you've listed what effects tear gas would have. Now: Why should this be in game? -
Show who you where killed by.
aversionfx replied to ryan__mc__@hotmail.co.uk's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
No. Giving players an unrealistic knowledge in the game is always bad. How does this enhance the game in any way? It doesn't, How could you possibly know that gunshots led to a player's death (if you didn't see it)? How could you possibly know the name of the location that a player was killed (if you weren't there)? How could you possibly know what weapon a player was carrying to commit a murder with? You wouldn't. Therefore it shouldn't be in the game. Not to mention, if player deaths were shown with locations, you can bet your ass that players would swarm to that location looking for some action. That is not the point of DayZ.
