  1. Notice that we're not even playing anywhere remotely near the capital of Chernarus (Novigrad). Imagine how large Novigrad must be, if Chernogorsk is a minor city and Elektrozkadovsk isn't even shown. Now that would be one hell of a looting place.

  4. Doesn't really help because getting to ArmA2 is in its own completely different league from every other game on the planet.

I joined in us 133 than I got banned

The admin of US133 is a bro in every way. It's one of the hundreds of bugs and other issues that are arising due to all of this insanity with the multiple beta patches/RCs/other fuckery.

I joined in us 133 than I got banned

US133 is having a lot of issues right now due to all of this nonsense that's been going on. You're not actually banned for any real reason, it's just been screwing up. http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1192129&page=217 Follow the Facepunch thread (The server is hosted by Facepunch.) for more information, as all of us in the FP community are experiencing similar issues while all of this chaos is trying to get fixed.

    Mod Rules

Kill, loot, steal, survive. Do whatever it takes. Don't forget your humanity though: Some of the best experiences in this game are the random encounters with people you don't kill... But never be too trusting, or you might end up dead!
  8. As many others have already said, this has happened to me as well in the past few days. At first I didn't think much of it, but as the issue persisted I began to see the pattern. I'm glad there's already a report for this, as it definitely needs addressing. That could also depend on the server's refresh rate: If a server refreshes on a basis of five minutes, then you would only have five minutes instead of fifteen as the case may be on another server. This is something worth looking into.

    Hide body

Definitely not. Even if the (I've always assumed it's a bug) feature where flies persist after a dead survivor is hidden stays, I believe that hiding a body is a legitimate option and should remain open. From a survival standpoint, why leave all the gear you don't need for someone else to take to possibly use against you? From a standpoint of the dead person trying to run back to their loot, it's no longer YOURS, as someone else already said. This game is designed to not be forgiving. Why should this be any more forgiving than the rest of the game? I disagree with this suggestion.

    Friend's Alienware

Running the game on low will only put more stress on your friend's CPU rather than his graphics card. There's a great thread over on the Rock, Paper, Shotgun forums that has some information on how to improve performance in ArmA2 here. (It's very extensive and should be very useful in helping your friend calibrate his system so that it doesn't put too much stress on either his CPU or graphics card.) I'm not a fan of Alienwares, as I believe they are very gimmicky and really serve no purpose but to dissuade people that might want to become PC gamers but are too worried that PCs are far too expensive (Which as we all know is not the case, but everyone believes due to the overpricing of brand name companies such as Alienware or Apple, who don't even put out very good hardware to begin with!), but I hope your friend figures out a way to get his game running a bit more smoothly.

    Bounty System

Not very realistic, and I'm sure the billboard would just be camped. It's an interesting idea, but no player would actually use this because they would simply be relying on another player to kill someone they themselves could kill without losing the item they put up for grabs or waiting around for someone fool enough to go by and pick up this player-made "quest" and go through the strenuously long hassle of tracking down this player. (Which, I must remind you, is nigh impossible in a 225km^2 space across hundreds of servers without just a complete and utter stroke of luck -- which is not the kind of thing you base a feature on.) How could this system even work across hundreds of servers? Would the bounty be server-locked? In that case, couldn't a player who has a bounty on their head just play on another server, if they were even stupid enough to be worried that someone, somehow, might randomly run into them and just happen to be the hunter looking for them? The more I think about this, the less feasible and less interesting this idea becomes. Overall, I don't think this is a very good function for several reasons, including the ones I've already brought up.

How has this gem gone un-noticed

This was really good! The part at about 50s really struck me in particular: Though you never actually see that sort of thing in-game, it's still a very accurate representation of the overall atmosphere of hopelessness and doom that the game has.

    Is the DayZ going independant?

There has been a lot of chatter about DayZ going independent, especially coinciding with ArmA3's release next year, but nothing is confirmed and Rocket has said several times in interviews that it is still all very much up in the air at the moment. Hopefully whatever decision they make is a good one for the health of DayZ and the devteam, as I'm sure it will be.
  14. People so easily forget that when you buy ArmA2: Combined Operations you're not buying DayZ... You're buying ArmA2, and ArmA2 is a great game! Sure, it has its flaws, but overall the experiences I've gained from playing ArmA2 with friends has been so rewarding. I suggest buying the game now, as not only will you be getting ArmA2 and Operation Arrowhead, you'll also be a part of the DayZ movement in its most important phase: The part where we gamers have the most influence on what direction the game goes in. Even if the development team maintains its philosophy of always listening to player input, this is the most important part of DayZ's growth and the most change to the game will occur now -- and that change will be largely brought about by gamers who decided that being a part of this experience in the "puberty" (If you will.) phase of this game's life was worth the extra money. And trust me, it is definitely worth it!

Switch between Day Z and vanilla ARMA?

If you run DayZ through Six Launcher software then running ArmA2/Operation Arrowhead/Combined Operations through Steam will always open just that, not the DayZ expansion. I've never played DayZ without Six Launcher -- as I never saw any reason not to upon getting it -- so I've never had to deal with the alteration of parameters in the Steam library. I'm pretty sure you can make a shortcut that exclusively runs DayZ upon running it in the Steam library, but I'm not entirely sure how to do that. My suggestion is to simply use Six Launcher, as I see no reason not to in the first place: It provides you with exclusively DayZ servers, and runs separately from your Steam library. What's there to lose?
  16. Why are you being such a prick? The OP asked a simple question and you come in here calling him a "douche" and belittling him when he never even mentioned his progress in the game. The OP simply asked if he was going to lose what he had or not, and wanted to know what other changes were mad. People like you that have nothing but a negative attitude in every situation are what make this community look so bad. If you actually enjoy this game you'd try to support other players (Yes, even if you're a bandit.) on the forums so as to continue to allow the game to grow and accrue more players. If you treat people with respect, a good portion of them might just turn out to be really great additions to the community. If you're just abrasive without reason then you're only going to drive potential players and potential contributors to the game and the community away. And like I said, that applies even if you are a bandit when in regards to the overall DayZ community.

    Super Zombie on Survivor Death

What about when a survivor dies through respawn? There'd be countless "super-zombies" wandering the coastline that would completely demolish new players. (Especially in Kamenka, hahaha.) I like the idea, though some parts are impractical such as saving through server restarts, never despawning, etc. The notion is very The Walking Dead-esque, with the implication that every survivor is infected regardless of contact with the undead and will eventually become a zombie. There would have to be a lot of fine-tuning on all of the little nuances for this to be possible, especially considering the conditions under which a survivor's corpse will turn into a "super-zombie." (I'm glad that this idea makes the super-zombies NPC-controlled though. I get tired of seeing people ask to play as zombies in the game.)

    Rocket's overall plan.

I think you are the one with reading problems, friend.

    Telepathic groups of survivors

My example is applicable in any MMORPG, or any online game. Like I said, you can disable VOIP in ArmA2's settings while keeping your microphone active on your computer (ergo, on other third-party VOIP programs like Skype/Mumble/TeamSpeak/Ventrilo), thus totally bypassing this without any way of the game being able to determine that you're actually exploiting this function, because people who simply don't have a microphone are indistinguishable from people who do but simply have their in-game VOIP totally deactivated through ArmA2's settings, not DayZ's settings. Is this making any sense? There is a clear reason why this is totally impossible to implement because people can so easily avoid it.

    Non-Player Characters

I love how AI interacts with itself in survival games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., but I worry about how it would carry into an RPG that features 40+ players at a time, especially with DayZ's core design. It's an interesting idea, but I don't know how well it would work out and I worry that it would only serve as a gateway to other things that would cause DayZ to fall under the generic category of RPGs.

    Headshots Required To Kill Zeds

Try playing some of the OA User Missions that feature headshot-only gameplay, such as Chernarus Apocalypse or Dynamic Zombie Sandbox. While headshots-only certainly is more hardcore, it's difficult to headshot solely because of ArmA2's engine, not to mention the absolutely absurd animations that zombies in DayZ use. I'm all for a hardcore gaming environment, but if this were to be implemented at all it should only apply on the more hardcore-gaming servers.

    [Suggestion] Non-lethal weapons

Using some primitive weapons such as rocks and sticks would be useful for knocking people out and stealing gear while they're unconscious, but like you mentioned this could easily be used to grief. When you can just as easily kill someone with a gun and then loot their body, why would you bother knocking someone unconscious with a rock and then steal their stuff? This is an interesting mechanic but would require a lot of fine-tuning to make it useful without making it obnoxious.
